Sir your observation is not based on facts, i am telling you reality: In IIT JEE ADVANCE my son got 507th rank and he could not entered in CS (Computer Science) but his close friend who was from reserved category got 2298 rank and he entered in CS in same university, in UPSC my niece got 78th rank and could not get IAS but one from reserved category scored 438 rank and became a IAS, how can you justify such a big difference
See the video properly, if you have a small cake then sharing will be hard if you increase the size of the cake then every society will get it. So the problem is the limited number of seats and availablity of jobs.
That is what he mentioned out of 50000 people writing the exam , top 5000 is already the top 10% of the people wrote the exam . So all are qualified. It is not then like 2000 rank is a worst rank getting seat .
Bcz of the opportunities the sc and st lost from generations culturally and economically….when I a, child sc and st used to sit on floor and used to come for less daily wages …they used to live in huts outside the village and live by eating mice ….so let them get seat …if your son is really good and hard working ….he will start a company and becomes ceo …who knows ?

But take census in IIT... if reservation is not implemented their seats would have been plundered and no single marginalized people would have entered
The only problem I have with reservation is “until when?” Do 2nd generation need reservation after their 1st gen availed reservation? 3rd? There has to be an end right? No political party will take the risk of losing vote by even talking of gradually removing reservation.
Edit: I’m not against reservation. It is needed for a large section of the society. But my problem is with People who absolutely have no need of it but will still use it simply because it’s available. That is why I said about there has to be an end like 2nd gen or 3rd gen, while continuing reservation for 1st generation people who REALLY DESERVE RESERVATION.

Even I’m first generation graduate from my family, but I didn’t use reservation in my life, even though I’m eligible. And I know that I don’t need it anymore. But still I can choose to apply reservation benefits to my child. This needs to stop. Why does a 2nd or 3rd generation need reservation? After a point, it’s just milking benefits as long as it exists.

Bigger problem in India is corruption, violation of rules by most people. Singapore developed from almost nothing since its independence to a super developed country now. All people there follow rules be it citizen or politician or government office. In india, common man does not even wear a helmet when riding two-wheeler. Thillalangadi in most activities, frauds, scams etc..With such behaviour, nepotism, scams will never change in India..

Once I was not in favour of the reservation. Over the years I've seen that on the ground there is still rampant injustice and discrimination against lower castes even after 75 years of independence.

He is talking about specifically Anna University counselling cut off. (Backed with data you can check it yourself). Tamil Nadu has done an amazing job in upbringing the OBC but not so much the SC/ST. There is this book titled "Dravidian years" by S Narayanan. You can read it which emphasizes the changes this brought about in the administration. It is a fair judgement which does speak that SC/ST have been ignored and post 2005 the innovative speciality/ extra ordinary contribution (TN had 5% of population of the country contributing 20% of the GDP) wore off.

People want to end reservation but don't want end to casteism and discrimination, that's where the problem lies. People who have not faced any discrimination due to their religion or caste assumes that discrimination doesn't exist in the society today. And this issue is mainly prevalent in the rural areas of the country, so everyone must research on discrimination in the rural areas of the country and try to change their mindset about everything. They must think from others point of view/perspective.

The problem is already well off second generation people are exploiting this system. they should have additional parameters like net income to avoid just caste based reservation to support the needy ones.
This is a good idea. However it will not solve the reservation problem immediately because there are many waiting in the queue. it will take another century or more to be equal in income.
It should b applied for higher caste also... they should have voluntarily given all their stakes in every sphere since they had got well off years before...

I wish to bring those points to your attention, with examples.
Because of the reservation not properly restricted, the son of a cobbler has to compete with the son of an IAS officer. Do you think it is fair?
Solution is, there must be a cap either by way of sieging the reservation for one generation or by putting income limits, that is creamy layer.
Second example.
Some forward community families have remained Purohits for generations and stayed economically weaker.
Some SC ST families who took advantage of reservations, became financially very sound and have become ultra rich. But they still get reservations because they belong to SCST.
Don’t you think this is injustice?

We don't have a proper system to gauge the economical condition, most of the property is black, so it is difficult to give reservation on the basis of economy. Ex. To get EWS reservation people are gifting their property to relatives and after getting job they are taking back.

How much percentage of Pandits/prohits are being economically weak and how much percentage of SC/ST in wealthy state... We cannot compare one on one but comparison on percentage basis ... Contrarily how much percentage of top management both in govt and private sectors are from SC/ST ... The answer to your question lies there ...
It is not the question of percentage, examples are given for more clarity.
Regarding the percentage of SCST officials in government of Karnataka , one will be surprised to see that more than 80% of higher positions are occupied by SCST because they enjoy reservation in promotions too. This may be the case in other states too.
However in private sector, as there is no reservation, so things are different and only talent prevails.

North Indians look outwards whereas South Indians(and I mean in principle) look inwards. Thereby South Indians have more intellectual periscope to cognify Indias Problems. Period.

However My personal views in Singapore the point you mentioned about Chinese, Malay and Indians is rather race based allocation / representation and not reservation. If reservations are justified will you say the similar thing in sports as well!
Problem is with the population. Govt should bring a law to curb the exponential increase in population. It will not benefit this generation but surely will the next 100 generations.

Joke. Reservation for OBC for 3rd generation now is unwarranted. It is the most abused vote bank politics. Soon, I would see 100% reservation. Because 95% of Indians are in reservation category now. You will continue to see brain drain and migration to greener pastures. It is not your salary income that is considered like EWS but it is other income more than 8 Lakhs (like your investments etc.,). Even if your salary is 3 Lakhs per month you can still get OBC NCL certificate. It is not right, it should be salary income and they can even raise it to 10 L per annum as well but 99% OBC gets OBC NCL certificate, no use of this and it is easy to get certificate by bribing too without much verification Only STs deserve reservation, even SCs are better off now and those you availed should make way for others who have not availed at all. No fucking politicians have spine to do these changes, we will continue to be doomed in corruption. Only 3-5% of people pay tax to manage education, health, infra etc.,

Very rarely i saw a person from upper caste, supporting the reservation system. The whole thing is consumed by the upper caste ppl due to undue social advantage. They never saw that, only concerned about peanut. All unsuccessful ppl from this group feels their reason of failure is reservation system. Cause of very bridge collapse & every unexpected death of a patient is imposed on lower caste engineering/doctor. If reservation system or even low caste ppl r removed totally, than also India is not going to change.

I respect you a lot for your views on many things, especially finance. But this topic needs a wider discussion and debate. It shall not be a drawing room discussion. I support reservation, but with some rectifications. We all generally get biased depending on our socioeconomic status etc.

Beautiful and logical arguments
There have been a lot of debate on whether reservation is good for society or bad for society.
But no one talks about the casteism feeling still existing in the society.
I am an admirer of akshat shriwastava ji for the various issue he has raised, but I would love to see him speaking on the bad effects of casteist/religious mindset of society and how it is destroying our nation.
