Waaah pickups seem to be in between Fender's and Wilkinson's ones. Wilkinson being the ones with a little less volume. But the 3 of them sound really nice.
For sure mate! Biggest part of the tone is on the Amp! I tried to use the Katana Clean Channel as it is pretty "flat", but this thing of "flat" simply doesn't exist! Cheers mate!
I bought those pickups . They don't sound exactly like Fender Texas Specials-I have Texas Specials in a different guitar. They do sound very good in the guitar I put them in-more on the vintage side than Texas Specials. They're very high quality-gray fiber bobbins, alnico v staggered poles, cloth wires. The price I paid off Ali Express was unbeatable. I'm very happy with them.

O Hot Rails casa legal sim! Link: bit.ly/4cSBJ8O
Sure they are! This is why I mentioned on the beginning of the video that the Texas Special are much more brighter. In comparison the Wilkinson looks muffled, because the Texas Special voicing is ultra bright! But I agree with you that they are amazing for their price stands. I have a pair of zebra humbuckers in Alnico 5 at my PRS CLONE kit and they are awesome!
Kinda' and apples to oranges to pairs comparison, though. The WAAAH set are a bit higher inductance than the Fender set. The DCR readings would be a bit low if the coils are cold. DCR readings should be taken at ~68 F for consistency. They should be CNC machine wound, which makes them accurate to the individual wind and pattern. That and the Rengas body the WAAH's are in might account for slightly less highs, (assuming they are both have HF 42AWG wire). I assume the guitar with the Fenders is Alder or Poplar? People think body wood doesn't matter, but woods like Mahogany tend to damp upper-mids more than Alder or Poplar and may damp lower-mids less. It's complicated. Necks can also damp audibly differently depending on wood density and stiffness. The AV pole Gauss might be different as well. The AV in some pickups is weaker than others, possibly being "unoriented" AV in either set. Finally, there's no reason the Wilk's should sound that dull by comparison. They might be wound with PE wire by the look of the wires coming out of the coil in some images, which tends to lose highs. It also looks like an Aluminum pickguard, which reduces the high end specifically above ~1kHz by 2dB.
For sure even if all pickups were installed into exactly the same guitar specs guaranteeing 100% of equivalence, there is also the fact that I am not a pro player... so of course the inconsistency on the playing also affects the sound. My main point on this video is to show that you can get a close and decent result for half a price of the Fender Vintera, which today is the most budget original Fender Pickups. Regarding the Waaah, from what I saw online, people claim that they have huge variations of DCR, so of course you will not have the same quality control as a Fender one! But the message is: "Don't suffer if the Fender ones will not fit to your pocket. Nowadays there are budget options that deliver also a good sound! Go make music!" All your comment is amazing! I will try a different shootout with the Wilks, this time in a plastic pickguard! 🔥🎛️
