If there is space, and if you have the time or interest, it is worth investing in a bigger and better dual-ganged pot for Gain, to replace what the kit came with. The Volume and Treble pots can remain as is. A lot of folks don't realize this, but the Gain pot did 3 or 4 (and maybe even more) things at the same time, as you adjusted it. On the ones he sent me, I could set the Gain controls to the same position on both boards, and they would sound identical; not just level, but tonally, as well. The *balance* and mix between the two versions of the signal being adjusted by that control is crucial to the design. Many inexpensive dual-ganged pots may feel nice, and last long enough, but are not well-matched between sections. When I say "build quality", I also mean consistency across units. When a major player buys 6 of them, for the various pedalboards and rigs in storage around the world (storage of duplicates can be cheaper and more dependable than shipping) for the South America Tour, the Europe Tour, the West or East Coast tour, and East Asian tour (plus a spare), they expect the settings to be VERY repeatable, with no playing around with the knobs to get "that" sound at the gig. That very specific blending/mix of two versions of the signal is also the basis for the mystique behind the diodes. Remember that the diodes also set a ceiling on the level of the clipped version of the signal. There are probably ways to compensate for using different diodes, but the simplest approach for Bill was to just always get/use diodes with the same properties, such that nothing else had to be changed to get the intended (and expected) result. I don't know what their properties are (the boards were returned to Bill), but even if I did, I wouldn't reveal them. I was honoured by the faith Bill placed in me, and nothing will break that.

It could be!! Maybe it stacks a second clipping diode, and this is the reason why the sound is super warm!

Unfortunately it doesn't have the battery clip mate. It is a super small pedal. Cheers!

If you will use the IR, I recommend using the XLR out straight to the audio interface, Stage Monitoring speakers or an FRFR Speaker. If you would like to use it as a preamp only (Which works super cool also), you can plug it into the RETURN of the FX Loop of an amp! Just do not forget to turn of the IR slot! I saved lots of bad amps with this method already! You should try it! Cheers mate!

Actually I didn't know that the amp selections of the Playwell were different! Those are news to me! The new Green ones already come with the protection from factory! M-VAVE already solved. Of course, sometimes you can buy a piece that was long time stucked in Stock, so it is always important to check.

Actually I do! But my main point was actually the famous comparison of Chinese Octaves with the original POG, which we know is a never ending discussion at internet. I am planning on doing a side by side blind test of this pedal and the Whammy which I recently bought to try. Maybe it will make the point a little bit more clear! Cheers mate!

Majority of the issues were solved by M-VAVE on the latest versions. Nowadays if you will buy a new piece (hoping it is not one which stayed long in stock) you will have zero issues with battery or function interruption. The Software and firmware update is also more stable now. The only attention point is: if you battery will be running low, it can stop working the sound, instead of completely shuting down. Some people got concerned with that, but after recharging it, it went back perfectly to function. It is not intuitive, but has a simple solution! Cheers mate!

Definetivelly no! The Noise Gate works just as a volume ramp in on off, which means it does not affect the noise inside the distortion or crunchy tone while you are playing... Honestly, I do not like it at all! I would add a qualited Noise Gate before the Tank G! Cheers mate!
