this comment ^ was in relation to 2020 online school and how id listen to a wide plethora of music.... including this piece! and play it on my 1934 student model bari!! nostalgia is even crazier today.
I listened to the origional so many times that I drained all the dopamine out of it. This brought back most of the happiness I got from the origional. Nice Work!
the percussion on the chorus should've had a different feel, not half time (bass on beat 1, snare on beat 3, opposed to 1 and 3 for bass, and 2 and 4 for snare aka regular time), should've had less of it, or even just the standard feel on the verses
Your Lil Brudder I personally prefer it with the d natural. The dissonance between the c and d flat just doesn’t sound good to me. Keep in mind, this is an arrangement, not a transcription, so the stranger can change stuff too
Ryan Piggott Totally agree. It’s 2020 which means people can do whatever they think is best. I believe that expressing your opinions on the arrangement is what makes the music unique and more enjoyable for everyone.
Cole Seagroves I think we all are overthinking on how to deal with this music. The music is fairly basic and it’s meant for beginner middle school jazz bands. ngl there are many other things we could be doing like PRACTICING while we listen and criticize this music I believe the song is good the way it is in the video
Your Lil Brudder Quite. There was no musical reason to change the tune (the instruments can play the correct pitches in the correct tempo). So it was a *needless* change, and that makes the arrangement all the worse. There were a couple more needless changes in the following bars, too. There are various reasons why a tune would have to be changed in order to be played by particular instruments in an arrangement -- yes, I do get that -- but there was no excuse to make those changes here.
Sounds great, but some notes and rhythms should be different in the verse and chorus. Also, the drums should sound completely different in the part where they sing “Mr. blue sky, please tell us why, you had to hide away for so long. Where did we go wrong?”. Other than that it’s awesome! Love ELO
I’m sad because the guitar solo wasn’t there, at least give the solo to the clarinet if there is one because the guitar part in the original was suppose to sound like a clarinet. Edit: I’m probably transpose of improvise to make a guitar solo, that’s jazz right.
@@sylaswebb-brook3990 what im doing in my band is we are adding that solo at 43, then when it finishes jumping back to 41 to the repeating notes to do the trumpet and tenor solo
@@kendrickvallee3146 you can play it I wouldn't care, but if you play it for a jazz tune, it honestly says a lot about your knowledge and taste in jazz
to anyone looking to compost a jazz score like this, dont you DARE make your aux percussion part play 1 bar out of every 16. this song is sooo boring to play. you can do better than that.
Roger Holmes, you brilliant bastard, nailed it!
dude.. listening to this gives me goosebumps literally everywhere on my body! the nostalgia is crazy!!

Sounds like a reprise from the end of a musical
Wow, your right
I have my concert for this song tonight and I’m playing tenor sax and I have the solo in it and it’s such a fun song!
How did the concert go?

Playing this song with my jazz band! I play piano and I made a pretty good improvised solo!
Unironically, this is a bop

Ikr they should make one for Evil Woman and Living thing. Those songs I think are their best ones
Someone made this agreement in 2018 my band. But this is awesome

We are preforming it pretty soon in my jazz band!!
so good!

i will never understand why the repeating melody of dark red is played at the beginning but its cool
Very delectable
The c-d-c-d-c-a-d should have the first 2 d flat

Sure, that might be accurate, but does it sound good? No.

The solo fits at measure 43 I think

i play trap set and my high school jazz band is doing this but im having trouble with the drum solo :(
Me too bro
Excellent
Nice 👌
Damm was that cool song. Sadly the vid cutters messed it up a little
People that want to play this are also the same people who will never play jazz past highschool and thank god for that.
Or it’s just a good song to play and learn for fun?
yeah honestly, its not a good piece, the original song was good but this is just terrible.

Could you further elaborate on that? Im pretty curious tbh
how have you managed to make high school jazz bands snobby don’t be such a square man
very epic
