They should be asking the school district, not the union. It’s not up to the union to get the employees they represent into trouble. The bigger question is whether the person who emailed the union went to police & of that person is a mandatory reporter of abuse & neglect under the statute.

Why are you talking to the Union? Baltimore’s Teachers Union contract does not give the union the power to fire or remove teachers from the classroom, they are just notified and kept in the loop. If police were called and no charges were filed, then the school had no just cause for dismissal until now.

⁠@@r.williamcomm7693 I agree, this definitely smells like a “let’s make the union look bad” attack disguised as journalism. If the district won’t comment and the union isn’t talking about it, then the police would have been the appropriate source to gather more information from.
