I love making this. I make it two ways Greek-style (with garlic and oregano) and Indian-style (with turmeric, red chili powder, ginger garlic paste) Yum!!
I do the same thing I use this recipe for Greek and also I use yogurt for Indian marinade as well then bake it in the oven. There is nothing better than yogurt marinated chicken in my opinion lol I can’t get enough of it.
I don’t understand how anybody could dislike this recipe. I was a little scared at first because the marinade seemed like a lot but it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I added smoked paprika instead of regular paprika and I added a little bit of sazon. I cooked them in the air fryer at 390 to get some color and used extra marinade with a little chicken broth as a sauce. I cooked the chicken in the sauce for the remainder time and paired it with sautéed cabbage and turmeric rice. I will definitely be making this again.
I grilled boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Marinated the day before, left to room tem before grilling.- took 20 mins to cook through . So simple and amazingly delicious! - definitely a keeper!
This is my second time making this (in a week lol) and I merged it with your chicken meatballs in cream spinach sauce recipe. I marinated overnight and cooked all the chicken and sauce in a big pan, adding 1/2 cup cream and a load of baby spinach toward the end. Some fresh parsley too. It's delectable, thank you :)
I went camping on the beach last year and marinated the day before I left so they were good n the ice chest for another whole day. They came out wonderful. I did a Greek salad with only lemon as a dressing and tzatziki sauce that I prepared when marinating the chicken … it all came together… perfect
Girl! This is amazing! We do this on a regular basis. Everyone I serve this to non-stop says this is so good! Lots of yummy sounds. Anyone who reads this, either the bbq or a grill pan is a must. I use chicken thighs. Not as pretty but really good 👌 👍
This was amazing! I couldn’t believe something so simple could be so delicious and to be honest I was really afraid to use yogurt to marinade but now I see what I was missing. Thank you for this wonderful recipe
I made this chicken tonight thinking I would have lots leftover for meals throughout the week...it was delicious and I am going to have to make some more tomorrow! I will cut back a little on the salt but only because I am supposed to be on a low sodium diet. 😋
Yummy!!! Love this!!! Heard about ppl using mayo to do this, but yogurt is sooooo much healthier and more delicious!!! How amazing!!! Yayayayay!!!!♥️♥️♥️💕
Oh yes! Way healthier. I like mayo in my chicken salad and in some dressings but, I don’t know how I feel about it as a marinade... hope you enjoy this one! 😊
Oh dear. Mayonnaise as a marinade sounds terrible. I’ve been cooking for many years and multiple ethnic cuisines and I’ve never heard of such a thing. I can’t fathom why one would do that. It’s not acidic, has no tenderizing properties, and is not flavorful enough to contribute to the taste.
OMG, I found you after so many months--almost a year. . . You always have tasty recipes! I used to follow you 'til that last hurricane damaged your house. I'm hoping you've now recovered all! CELESTE, in the ATL 🌼
Dimitra your recipes are amazing ! I cooked tsatziki, vegetarian lasagna and aubergians with feta and spinach and it was absolutely one of the best dishes I have ever tried!! Thank you very much for sharing your recepies🙏❤️ would be very very nice if you could make more vegetarian options 🤗
Hi dear Dimitra we are cooking your delicious Greek Lasagna is on the oven right now! This chicken looks delicious too I’ll cook this on Friday for dinner! Thank you.❤️🙏
By accident, I had some ready to eat shrimp and spinach... I put both into the leftover batter and cooked it for one minute.. oh my.. it was quite restaurant ee
I made this tonight. Leg meat was on hand so it got used. The results were awesome. A great lively flavor with or without the sauce. Thank you for a superb recipe. It is a keeper in my cookbook.
Wow! This was an really good recipe and just so you know it was my first time making Greek chicken. It was so good I had it two nights in a row, the second time (tonight) I even had it with your homemade tzatziki sauce. This is so much better then at a restaurant (even though I'm sure yours is great)!
I’ve been watching your channel 3 or 4 years now, but somehow missed this one. This looks so easy and delicious, I have to try this soon, like this week! ❤
Thank you! Making this tonight! I recently found your page and I can't tell you how happy I was to find it.. I was in such a rut not knowing what to cook, being Italian and married to a Greek and I still had no idea what to cook anymore. I've already made a few of your recipes, one of them being the best Koulourakias I ever had.
TRIED THIS AND IT WAS SO GOOOOD!!!! I only get to eat this in restaurants, but this turned out so much better!! Recipe was super simple and easy! Thanks Dimitra! 🥰🥰🥰 Initially I din not want to use cumin, but it actually made a difference to the dish 😊
I thank you for this information.... I try to cook ethnic food but I hardly eat them (share them with neighbor) because it reminds me of home.. good video and beautiful lady..
I like it if about 2-3 tbs. honey added in the yogurt, and add chiles so it is spicy. Spicy garlics too. It's easier than grating, put it in the blender.
Love your recipes. Thank you for bringing Greece to our kitchen. Last week I made one pot lemon chicken and potatoes. Soooo tasty. Will try this chicken next week x x
I made this and it’s a great chicken breast recipe. I used a cast iron skillet - one tip I’ll add is the skillet doesn’t need much oil at all, there’s close to enough in the marinade. I used too much oil in the pan which made it a bit greasy, my mistake!
I can’t believe you said that about the vanilla yogurt because just when I was about to make it, I looked at it and it says Vanilla I’m so mad. I wanna make sure I have to wait till tomorrow yes
I love your teaching. But I find it hard to find the blog spot for this. Could you just share a link on your description. I find Chef John does this and it makes it easy to read the recipe.
Made this tonight and it was a hit!!!! So delicious. 😋😋😋Thanks for sharing. BTW, how many calories are there per tender? Just wondering because I log my calories.
So excited to give this a try! I’m regrettably unable to eat dairy and recently found that there are some plant based yogurts easily available, any thoughts on whether that might work or if there’s a work to make the recipe dairy free?
I love "marinating" chicken in yogurt simply because the yogurt that sticks to the meat actually carries the flavor to the meat. I grew up with my parents using oil based marinade for chicken and I never got the point, because it still had basically no flavor. The marinade smelled wonderful, but the meat never really had any of the taste of those spices. Yeah it made it tender, but it didn't do anything for flavor. Once I discovered yogurt marination I was hooked. All the spices stay stuck to the meat so when you cook it, the flavor is actually present.
I love this recipe on the grill for gyros...make sure to preheat and oil the grates to remove chance for sticking. if using tenders, make sure u remove the tendon or its a weird chewy sad experience.
Love the receipt, just one important thing, DO NOT LET THE CHICKEN COME TO ROOM TEMPERATURE!!! This is very important and is a gold rule in the culinary world, you want your chicken to always be cold because once it gets warmer, bacteria will spread and you definitely don’t want that
I love making this. I make it two ways Greek-style (with garlic and oregano) and Indian-style (with turmeric, red chili powder, ginger garlic paste) Yum!!
do you add the indian spices in the marinate, when you fry it, or after🤔
@@valiant9865 add the spices to the yogurt and place chicken in it, and and marinate several hours.
I do the same thing I use this recipe for Greek and also I use yogurt for Indian marinade as well then bake it in the oven. There is nothing better than yogurt marinated chicken in my opinion lol I can’t get enough of it.
Dear Dimitra. I have followed your recipes during my first year living alone. Thank you so much for bringing delicious meals to my home.
I'm a beginner cooker and appreciate when instructions are explained slower. I made this chicken and it was absolutely delicious.

pls tell me u separated the marinate from what touched the raw chicken😫
Just made this last night & made gyros out of them w/ tzatziki sauce, cucumbers, onions & tomatoes. Thank you. 😍
Also just made wraps with the left overs
Oh my God, I just made some authentic gyros today and they were absolutely fantastic. Love Greek food!
I grilled boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Marinated the day before, left to room tem before grilling.- took 20 mins to cook through . So simple and amazingly delicious! - definitely a keeper!

I love this recipe on the grill for gyros...make sure to preheat and oil the grates to remove chance for sticking. if using tenders, make sure u remove the tendon or its a weird chewy sad experience.
Do you have an idea what can I do with the leftover marinate?
Ooooohhhhhhh, vanilla! I'm going to have to try that. lol
Since I'm finding this recipe during the COVID-19 era and don't want to venture out to buy yogurt, do you think sour cream would work?
Yes. Use half the amount and thin it out with water :)
Dimitra's Dishes How about thinning it out with something like buttermilk? Would that work? I don’t think water would be ideal.
Delicious, thank you!
What can you do with the extra marinade?
You missed out ground cinnamon! :) But it sounds very good!
I can do this in the air fryer right ?
This looks so yummy. I'm planning on making this for dinner tonight. :)
Love this recipe i like to use boneless chicken thighs
IM MAKIN THIS TONITE😍😍😍😍😍
do you think i can use coconut yogurt instead if diary yogurt? 🤔
my little one needs to be DF
Delicious!😊
thanks...can I leave it in the fridge for more than 8 hours? let's say 15?
Yes, you can :)
👍looks delicious.
Love the receipt, just one important thing, DO NOT LET THE CHICKEN COME TO ROOM TEMPERATURE!!! This is very important and is a gold rule in the culinary world, you want your chicken to always be cold because once it gets warmer, bacteria will spread and you definitely don’t want that
Hi i am making it now but seems my marinate is a bit more can i keep it after or discard. Thanks
Divine !
I want to bake it. What temp and for how long please?
Fresh lemon! Yellow
Can this be used with other meats? Thank you in Advanced
Can do this for lamb too
