Very nicely done. Thank you Jen, for your insistence on accurate seaming and cutting. Sometimes we can make something "close enough" but with these piecing projects, accuracy will reward us with a beautiful project. Just thank you!
I have subscribed to a year in words for about a year now. I've really enjoyed the series and visitors to our home look for the new wall hanging . I have enjoyed Santa Claus Lane wall hanging kit , loads of magic pillow cases and a variety of fabrics for home sewing and gifting makes. My grandson has a playmat that was made from the small vehicles fabric . Thanks so much SF's x
We are very glad to hear that you enjoy these beautiful kits! It sounds like you're a wonderful, loving grandparent and we are glad that you've chosen to include Shabby Fabrics in this part of your journey. ❤️🎄 🎄 -Michelle
When nothing else will work (not even a starter square) to keep those tips from getting mangled I will use a 1 inch square of paper under the tip. Works like a charm! I don't recommend regular use but once in a while doesn't hurt and it does cut down on the frustration of re-cutting pieces because of chewed tips.
Love this little Christmas idea, would you be able to put the link to download the free pattern for the tree and present that you mentioned please, can’t see it there at the moment 😀 thank you
Thank you for catching that! We have fixed this, and you can find the Free Download for these blocks here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/free-downloads-and-video/446/a-year-in-words-wall-hanging-how-to-make-a-pieced-tree-and-a-pieced-gift-block 💖💖 -Michelle
I’m so glad you mentioned safety! I will add one other piece of info: Do not wear sandals while you’re cutting! Why? I am on my 4th of 6 week of no weight bearing following tendon repair surgery…..you guessed it! I was squaring a block and my hand slipped and I bobbled the rotary cutter and it dropped, hitting the top of my foot and cutting the tendon! Who knew quilting was a blood sport?
Does the raw edge fray if it goes through the wash or do you need to treat the edges with something like fray check or does the laser fuse and seal the edges so they never fray? Thanks so much if someone happens to know.
We do not typically seal our edges, but yes, over time and with multiple washings, the raw edges of laser cut shapes may tend to fray. We do blanket or topstitch our applique pieces which can help avoid some fray. You can treat the pieces with fray check, but that does tend to wash out eventually, so you would have to reapply if that's a choice you prefer. ❤️🎄 -Michelle
Hi, i am from Germany. I Love your "a year in words wall hanging"! Is there an online shop in germany where i can get the applique words? Or templates for the applique words, maybe as pdf file? Greetings from germany!
Greetings! We are glad you enjoy these delightful wall hangings. The "A Year in Words" series is a Shabby Fabrics exclusive, but we do have the PDFs available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/search?sortOrder=6&q=a+year+in+words+pdf 🎄 🎄 -Michelle
Hi dream-catcher. In an effort to better answer your query, we were wondering which part of the video you are referring to. Are you able to give us an approximate time stamp? 🌟 -Michelle
@@shannon7071 Okay, you are able to start at the other end of that piece, as long as you maintain the 1/4" seam allowance. We did not start on that side as it would have affected our camera view and our Bernina's foot did not have the 1/4" guide on both sides. Hope this makes sense! -Michelle
Such a cute Christmas sewing project! Thanks for posting!
It sure is! We're glad you enjoy it. Thank you for watching 🌟🌟🌟 -Michelle
