No matter what. She is singing live. And most artist of her caliper phone in performances and I appreciate that above anything else. She is trying and her voice has changed. Love her forever ❤
i saw her live late last year and she sounded good, she obviously doesn't have the voice she used to but it's really a miracle that she's still singing. and she toured almost all of last year and then went straight into vegas this year and then straight into festival season
I know that the Lyme Disease that about took her out in the early 2000’s was pretty devastating. She had surgery on the nerves by her vocal cords to give them some support and she has said she has no idea how long that will last. I think she sounds great-especially considering everything she’s been through. She’s the Queen! 💜
Yes she does. Shania is a beautiful soul and I’m so happy she has decided to continue singing and live her best life despite the Lyme disease attack. No one should expect her to lay down and give up when she’s such an amazing performer. God Bless Shania. Love you girl. ❤❤❤❤
There are some producers who analyze and explain how Mutt got the sounds he did on the records he produces. It's clear - to me - that she was never more than a mediocre singer with lots of background shenanigans by Mutt to make her sound good.
Shania contracted Lymes disease in 2003, and her voice was damaged by the effects of dysphonia - a term to describe disorders of the voice - as a result of the disease. Which also led to her having open throat surgery.
It's devastating what happened to Shania's voice. She contracted Lyme disease in 2004 at the end of her Up World Tour, the Lyme disease led to nerve damage on the vocal cords which is why she stopped performing for almost a decade. Her voice was really strong between 2012 and 2016 but in 2017, I remember watching performances and thinking something else was happening to her voice because it really sounded like she was in pain when singing. She had open throat surgery in early 2018 to have something (I can't remember what) added to her vocal cords to try and help them - her voice seems to be a bit hit and miss. One day she can sound amazing, others it can just not be there. I think Glastonbury was majorly in-ear issues - she was off beat a lot which I think was throwing her voice, because when she was in beat on songs, she sounded great! She lipsynched the entirety of the 2018 Now World Tour but has sang live since then, which I think is a brave move and really opens her up to criticism when people don't know why her voice is the way it is.
I love Shania! Have ever since I can remember. The Netflix documentary she put out Not Just A Girl was really good as it goes into an in-depth look about her life through the years and the personal/professional struggles she’s been through. From her early life, redefining country music, skyrocketing to fame, being a global mega superstar, getting Lyme disease, vocal surgery, being a mother, divorce, and basically learning to sing all over again. To who she is now and her journey forward. Definitely a must watch if you’re a Shania fan!
I was front row at the recording of her Up! live in Chicago concert in July 2003. Those were the days! She was on top of the world! Still love everything she does and always will 😊
I am so hoping that Alanis Morrisette keeps voice her voice. There was a time when the No. 1 Worldwide Pop Singer/Entertainer was Canadian. The No. 1 Worldwide Country/Pop/Dance Singer/Entertainer was Canadian. The No. 1 Rock/Alternative/Entertainer was Canadian. Those 3 particular women hit the stratosphere and reigned over the charts for years. They did this country proud. They still do this country proud. It breaks my heart to see Celine Dion struggling to sing. She no longer has control over voice. She is still pouring that spirit into a microphone when most would have just given up. How many times did Shania Twain have to prove that she could sing back in the day. She proved it. She did it over and over again. These honest Canadian women are fighters. Shania could have lip-sinked that entire performance. She didn't. Hell no she didn't. She earned that right. ruclips.net/video/US3oUdVxdPM/видео.html
I seen Shania live in Las Vegas at the end of May, and again in Dublin a few weeks ago. She was much better on them days. I do think she had inner ear issues from watching the Glastonbury set. She’s still a legend and I still think she’s great. Age comes to us all. And I’ve seen a reactor breakdown the vocal performance of Dua Lipa- she used boosted vocal harmonies as the main lead vocals and she sang in harmony underneath. Older artists tend to not do this. You should check out the Sugababes performances from Glastonbury. Seen them last week in Dublin and they were fantastic.
I’ve never found vocals at Glastonbury to be great for any artist. I honestly think that’s the setup. My friend saw her three times in the past two months and said she was outstanding
Yayy! I missed these videos! I agree, I noticed the change in her voice as well. I'm glad she is embracing it instead of lipsyncing to her old vocals as some have been doing latley cough cough Paula Abdul lol. As far as Dua Lipa, I don't think she has been lipping either.
It did look like she was singing over the top of recorded vocals at the chorus , however so many artists do that now , suppose it puts less strain on the vocal chords especially if the artist is a lot older than when they recorded the original track . Regardless the performance was fun & such a great crowd as usual at Glastonbury ❤️
The sound engineering at Glasto this year was terrible - Cyndi Lauper had the same issues - timing and volume - this is nothing to do with the artists and more to do with bad sound engineering. I feel sorry for artists when this happens because it’s their name and voice being criticised.
I have never been able to sing but i can totally relate to Shania. Lyme Disease has left me with dysarthria, a severe speech weakness. Horrible disease 😢
A lot of performers use backing tracks these days. Losing your vocal capabilities is so devastating. When singing brings you so much joy and then your voice changes it takes a your confidence and self esteem.
For a while now Shania was performing 'Man! I feel like a woman!' with playback in the high notes mostly in the chorus. But it only was taken from the old song. With all the changings in her voice it was too obviously. This is the first time i heard it with her current voice. It was unusual. Okay, but unusual.
The audio will be direct from the mixing board, I believe on the live broadcast the individual levels of instruments and mics will be mixed live. However when the performance ends up on IPlayer and RUclips etc the audio can be remixed and possibly massaged. Her guitarist is Lindsay Ell, she is an amazing solo artist in her own right, you should check her out. RE: Dua, she was singing live, however she will be singing over a number of other vocal tracks in the playback, so if she wanted to drop out and and let the backing track take over then she can just sing quieter, or not at all. This is pretty standard in 'pop' live performances.
Based on the comments I thought she'd sound horrible, but she sounded great. I've seen quite a few older acts and some really don't hold up well, especially when they don't change it to fit their newer range. She did a great job. I would've thought it was just because of aging if no one had mentioned her vocal problems. Desk: I think it's cool, but when the camera moves a lot I have to look away because I get motion sick 😭😭 I hate how easily I get motion sick. Steady tripod videos are my jam.😊
Shania is one of my favourite singers, I grew up with her music as my Grandmother was a huge fan of Shania so I got into her because of my Grandma. I have lots of amazing childhood memories that feature Shania’s music, so I’m always happy to see new performances from her! It’s such a shame Lyme’s Disease made her so ill and made her lose the ability to sing/perform for 15 years, but I’m so thankful that she managed to fight through and can still sing today, albeit in a deeper, lower register. I don’t think any of her Glastonbury performance was lip synced, but there were definitely timing and in-ear issues throughout her set, she kept touching her in-ears and looking annoyed as though it wasn’t working properly. Cyndi Lauper was similar, but she wasn’t very good in general if I’m honest 😅 However, Shania is still the one and I’d love to see more Shania Twain content on your channel ❤
You should watch the video where there was a technical issue with the audio and headsets. Despite not being able to hear the background music and the challenges of performing in such a vast venue, she continued her performance. People may judge, but true fans will always appreciate and love her!
She has had to have surgery to reconstruct her voice. She has talked about how her voice box is basically being held together with gauze tap. I think she sounds incredible given what she has been through. She still has the shania essence, we should be grateful she is still performing for us.
There were some sound issues .. her first song sounded distorted and out of time and they turned her microphone up after that. Some other artists had problems aswell. Shania's voice is different now as she had Lyme Disease a while ago and was really ill with it. She has had a few throat surgeries because of the illness. I saw her at The O2 last year she wss brilliant but just sings differenly now. Her voice is not what it was in 1997 due to her having been ill .. she didnt think she would sing again.🎉
lol what a shoddy performance. She, and many other 80/90s legends have fallen by the wayside vocally. Same as Paul Young, and even Stevie Nicks last weekend in London. As a festival/band photographer (now and then) you get to hear many artists, and some unfortunately, don't cut the mustard no more. Great channel by the way, love and hugs from Wales .x.
Im a fan of hers but when singers cant sing their own songs its time to give it a rest. Her comeback is clearly about the character/performance and not the actual singing.
Lol then don't watch. There's plenty of fans of hers who still want to see her perform. But you wanna take that away from them or her when you could just.. oh I don't know... not watch? Lol
She sings all her songs in different keys and octaves now, it doesn't sounds great if you really like what she used to sound like. I wouldn't say I'd pay much money to see her now. But she's undeniably was one of the best performers of the last few decades
The poor woman doesnt deserve all the hate, She had lymes disease and surgery on her vocal cords, she had to learn how to talk and sing again, her voice isn't going to be the same as it was 30 years ago, atleast she still gets up and sings live, Glasto sound was terrible, most artists had issues with sound and inner ears
As a long-time doctor, I don't know of a single case in which the voice was damaged by Lyme disease. Personally, I think it's an excuse. I think that her voice is damaged because she forcibly sang much higher than was good for her vocal cords for many years.
She had Lyme disease, it affected her vocal cords. So she had to have a surgery on her larynx to fix it. She also had Covid-19 during the pandemic, so that took a toll on her voice. She wrote a song about it. I attended one of Shania Twain’s concerts in Denver last year when she did her Queen of Me tour. She sounded good live! I had a great time!
I love Shania, regardless if her voice has deteriorated. As for your new setup, whilst you moving around is fine, because the camera follows you, it ended up making me feel somewhat motion sick.
I saw Shania in Stirling 2 days after Glastonbury. The first half of the show was absolutely shocking. 2nd half much better which made me wonder if some was lipped. Overall i know her voice has changed but she wasn't good.
This song; from this moment on and a part of you win my love were pre recorded. The rest was fully live, this day the sound was different. She was having problems with the sound and her voice was really weak. I think there was no effect as she used to do km Las Vegas in this usar.
I think she needs to take more time off and let her voice recuperate more till it’s completely healed. I know she will never sound the same as before, but let herself heal and do no more damage….. sad. I just love her….
Here’s „you’re still the one“ 😊 Yeah, her voice changed but still a great performance. The menopause also often makes the voice about 3 semitones lower… ruclips.net/video/9qFtoe9IzOs/видео.htmlsi=MZWZZNedJtw-X7NK
She was bit by a tick and contracted Lyme disease, her voice was damaged by the effects of dysphonia (nerve damage to her vocal cords). Tick bites can be lethal, my friend has needed two bouts of chemotherapy due to a bite, it turned giant patches of his skin black and affected his brain, he had the shakes like those with PD... awful.
She should stick to the melody for the chorus, at least the first one, singing harmonies in such a big uptempo track like this is not a good idea, maybe she felt like she wouldnt be able to...
Shania does not lip sync. That’s obvious. Let her be. She’s living her best life despite Lyme disease almost killing her and pretty well taking out her vocal chords. I think she’s still awesome too. ❤
Dear Georgina, if you're reading this...As someone who sings for more than 20 years, I saw most of her show on tv. i didnt get far to hear this song cause it was just bad. we tried to have it as background music during our lunch but the sound was so bad that we just turned the tv off. people blame technicians but its not always them, they do their best to make us sound good. same thing was with cindy lauper show. it was also off key most of the time that it was unbearable to listen. And these 2 ladies are my musical icons. my top shelf artists. but when it comes to this big events it doesnt matter too much. it all that matters is that people had fun and get to see them performing live
I barely recognized her. Her voice was different and she has an iconic voice. Her hair is different. I actually thought the person on the stage was an imposter. I’m an Ontarian, Canadian and have been listening to her since she first started singing almost. I miss the higher range too. Hopefully she can get it back.
Did you know she had Lyme disease? She's never going to get her range back, it's a miracle that she's even performing at this point after being told by multiple doctors for years that she wouldn't be able to sing ever again. Plus the woman is in her 50s. We really need to stop holding people to a standard that they set when they were in their prime.
She got limes disease which is how she lost her voice. Her surgery meant she had to have a kind of scaffolding around her vocal cords (?) To give structure. She has said she doesn't know how long it will last sadly. At Glasto she said she had a cold / infection.
She sounded dreadful at Glastonbury lol my non fans review there but im glad most people still seem to think she sounds good or great even. To be fair of the few songs i saw her do this was the best and maybe a 3.4/10 perfomance vs a 1.8 to 2.5/10 for the others
A lot of the videos show her fidgeting with her inner ears for most of the show. There's also a tik tok video from behind the stage where she's messing with her ears and gives a WTF look and throws her hands up
I don't really mind that she can't belt like she used to, nor can sing the main tune but rather sings the lower background harmony, but I hate the fact she faked it and lip-synched some songs.
I have a new found respect for her. Imagine being a worldwide renowned singer and due to illness you’re unable to execute the way you did, but still go out and try as best you can. She doesn’t need to prove herself. She’s an icon. Her legendary discography speaks for itself. For her now, it’s a celebration rather than showcase. We know who she is as an artist, so people should just be grateful she’s still trying to honour that legacy and empathise with how illness which is no fault of her own, has taken a toll on the instrument she gives us.
Same. I only really became a fan of hers recently.. but I love her energy. Everyone talking trash about that Glastonbury performance but I was so inspired watching her strut up and down that stage like she OWNS it even after everything she's been through. Women like that inspire me so much to keep going no matter how hard things get.
Shania got Lyme disease in 2003 and it destroyed her voice. She wasn't able to sing for many years and that's why she stopped performing and making records. It caused her to have vocal dystonia which has never completely gone away so she's never been able to sing quite like she did before. Her voice is actually pretty ragged from this illness
Shania has fought so hard against so many illnesses that robbed her of her voice and she is still there on stage doing her best. I think this should be the most important thing, as well as raising awareness about Lyme disease. I think it's reducing an artist too much when the analysis is only focused on her voice or on voice problems that maybe she really wants to leave behind and not highlight again. I'm not her fan but I have tremendous empathy for people who fight and she is a true warrior! Love Shania !!!
She's actually lip syncing in this performance. It's the exact same pre-recorded vocal track she has been using on tour, and she lip syncs 99% of her shows nowadays. It's kind of sad that she can't even really sing well in the studio anymore. I feel bad for her because she's been through so much but at the same time it seems a bit unfair to charge fans a lot of money for tickets to hear her lip sync to really poor vocals.
I've been watching quite a few RUclips videos from music producers who talk about how Mutt Lange got the sound he did on all his recordings. It seems as though he did some tricks with his vocals and blended them into Shania's voice to get that unique sound. In other words, it was all smoke and mirrors. Shania really never could sing particularly well, and now with Mutt no longer helping her, her lack of talent has become even more obvious. My humble two cents.
She's been lyp synching or over-dubbed her performances for a long time... I guess for that performance she had to be live... So it's even more obvious.
Singing harmonies rather than the melody spoils the song for me. After all it's the artist that sings the melody in the first place. If she can't hit the original notes take the key down a little or as you mentioned when singing live maybe get more backing singers. I was going to see her in concert but in all honesty after learning about her ordeal with her vocals it made me a bit dubious. I'd rather listen to a song the way it was originally recorded. I also wonder with her having lime disease if singing at your normal key wouldn't be ideal anyway and if that's the case then maybe re-arranging the songs would be a better option for her.
As many have said, she can attracted Lyme disease about 20 years ago. And it took away her ability to even speak for a period of time. She was told by many surgeons there was nothing they could do but she finally found one who was willing to try and he was able to get her the ability to speak and sing somewhat back. She's got an incredible spirit and I love her tenacity.
Okay lets talk. She's a badass lady who had lyme disease and fought back from being completely unable to sing.. she's back up there owning that stage and being extremely confident and inspiring. What else is there to say? I like her voice now anyway. It carries a bit of the struggle she's been through and brings even more to some of her songs.
I can enjoy her talent back in the day. However, this performance was bad. She cannot sing anything more demanding than her spoken voice. She also relied on pre recorded vocals in the chorus and ending. Also yes she was not singing the main leading vocals. I just think she does it purely for the money cause I don’t even think her fans wanna hear this. :(
'purely for the money'... why not because it's her passion that was taken from her and she doesn't want to let it go? Try looking at people in better ways.
I find it a bit sad you always go for reactions to the huge artists... Molly from ALVVAYS has a fantastic voice... Janaelle Monae was great... Gossip, London Grammar...etc... they were all there at Glastonbury. We need to support the lesser known artists more. It should not all be about views. This performance by Shania, bless her heart, was not very good.
Also, I'm so tired of the obsession with youthful perfect female vocals. Same garbage people did to Whitney Houston in 09 and 10. Yeah she had some bad days/nights but for the most part she still was a capable singer and showed so much talent on stage. And after going through the depths of drug addiction she seemed to be doing better at the time.. people should have seen it as a triumph. Instead they were cruel because she didn't look or sound as youthful and perfect as she once did. They do this to female performers all the time and it's so sick.
I love your channel but some videos are not necessary. What happened to her voice? She was 15 years out of the industry right after the peak of her career with the album Up!. Lyme disease almost took her life and 100% of her voice. Whether she can sing today (well or not) is a blessing!! 🙏
Shania was never a great singer to begin with, but thanks to her husband at the time, Mutt Lange, he made her a star with his genius in the studio. He made her sound way better than she naturally did and even then, it wasn’t a huge deal. But she was cute and sexy, dressed nice. Together with his magic, it was a hit in the 90’s. I watched her behind the music years ago, I’ve always admired that she kept her family together after losing her parents etc. Still, she lucked up with Mutt. Big time. Her music was that bombastic sound he made famous on Hysteria by Def Leppard. It’s just the country(ish) version.
People saying she never really had a great voice? WTF? Look at her performances from come on over and up! Tour! Also search for " amneris letter " with Elton john. And then tell me this Girl couldnt sing!
I agree with you 100%. Mutt Lange is a genius. Shania never would have made it without him. As far as her story about keeping her family together, I'll just say that she wasn't really an orphan, and her bio father, Clarence Edwards, did not disown her. In fact, he was a VIA Rail engineer who provided tickets for her to travel to the Tommy Hunter show, and made sure she was always well dressed for the event. If she was as poor as she claims, then who paid for all her vocal lessons? Lots of thinks that are sketchy about Shania's version of events.
I barely recognized her. Her voice was different and she has an iconic voice. Her hair is different. I actually thought the person on the stage was an imposter. I’m an Ontarian, Canadian and have been listening to her since she first started singing almost. I miss the higher range too. Hopefully she can get it back.

I doubt it was completely about Lyme disease.
She wears crotch on her vocal cords!

The NOW tour was openly lypsince
I suspect she injured her vocal chords from singing incorrectly over the years.

Yes, also to add there's mics out front which are blended in to give the ambience from the audience.

II read that is was nerve damage, not literal damage, because doctors could figure out what was happening.

Thank you for this! I’ve been wondering about her voice for some time now.
Google will tell you all about what happened.
A lot of people have been saying she is lip-singing at her show but I don't think she is.
Shania's award show medley performances have been almost 95% lipsynced pre-recorded vocals but this being an actual concert is a different story
I dont think she is miming...she sang at The O2 last year.
lol what a shoddy performance.
Her fashion choices worry me more than her voice. She is singing at her best given what she has been through.
Her guitarist is Lindsay Hell, a canadian country artist!
I saw her last year in NYC she was solid and actually did go for the notes this seems like just a bad night for her
She had two vocal surgeries. I was going to ask if you have heard of her new music
At this performance she was having sound trouble. I’ve been to 6 of her concerts since she has came back and she sounds great
i don't think most of her fans care how she sounds. They like her for her and her songs. I don't think the voice style matters
If you like music it does matter
Great Reaction
Georgina, untethered. Watch out world.
She will not shout out, "man, I feel like a woman." She has the audience sing it and has a very strong back up vocals covering her.
Shania was having sound issue
This song; from this moment on and a part of you win my love were pre recorded. The rest was fully live, this day the sound was different. She was having problems with the sound and her voice was really weak. I think there was no effect as she used to do km Las Vegas in this usar.
i love shania twain
That was bloody terrible 🥲
I think she needs to take more time off and let her voice recuperate more till it’s completely healed. I know she will never sound the same as before, but let herself heal and do no more damage….. sad. I just love her….
Here’s „you’re still the one“ 😊
Yeah, her voice changed but still a great performance. The menopause also often makes the voice about 3 semitones lower…

man, I feel its oooover!
Shania had Lyme disease back in the early 2000’s and as a result, it changed her voice unfortunately.
She had Lyme’s Disease, Covid, and Pneumonia... It´s hard for her to sing live.
I've subbed you.🏴
Shania does not lip sync. That’s obvious. Let her be. She’s living her best life despite Lyme disease almost killing her and pretty well taking out her vocal chords. I think she’s still awesome too. ❤
Apparently this is the dubbed version, reports were it was bad live so they dubbed it.
Shania is fantastic ❤
The cyndi lauper and Shania twain set was fugged up ! The in-ear monitors was off.
I think it was prerecorded vocals
It's not a live performance. Maybe you should choose another song from that show?
She definitely sounds different now. It’s a nice voice still. But it’s a different voice.
According to her, she can't project her voice
That’s why she lip syncs
@@daytonsouthall1137in this case she did live but different
What has happened to her face? Not easy to recognise her.
Before her vocal abilities, she should reconsider her appearance...the way she makeup, dress...I always looked up to her but lately, questionable
Poor lady Lyme disease wrecked her voice.
Well, most acts today are lip syncing sadly. Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, madonna etc etc
If you actually think this is lip synching, it makes me wonder if you can tell the difference between pre-recorded and a live performance.
This sounds different from watching it live, definitely sounds as if it’s been altered , was much worse
It was so sad, she gave the sound guys a thumbs down at the side of the stage and then sat down with her guitar to sing and her eyes were so sad
her illness happened
She's been lyp synching or over-dubbed her performances for a long time... I guess for that performance she had to be live... So it's even more obvious.
i still love her song brillian song even her voice different now....but still beautiful
Plus she’s aging - so it’s going to be different. We have to be realistic!
What happened to her face.😊
Well, she lip syncs most of the songs most of times. She was lip syncing every note in here. And that's because of Lyme.
She past her sell by date and needs to give up the singing career
She never had a very good voice 🤷🏼♀️
I find it a bit sad you always go for reactions to the huge artists... Molly from ALVVAYS has a fantastic voice... Janaelle Monae was great... Gossip, London Grammar...etc... they were all there at Glastonbury. We need to support the lesser known artists more. It should not all be about views. This performance by Shania, bless her heart, was not very good.
horrible ... she should retire now that's a disgrace
Naaah....you are being too nice. Shania sounds dreadful. She even sounds robotic.
My lord...its her face thats shocking...too much surgery!
She didn't almost die from Lyme's disease.
Wrong..deaf?
That’s a lie from Satan’s mouth if I ever heard it. She has an album as Eileen before Shania and her voice was phenomenal
What in the 'a man made her' heck is this garbage?? GROSS. This has to be a bot response.
The title of this video could be a little less tacky and tasteless, tbh.
I barely recognized her. Her voice was different and she has an iconic voice. Her hair is different. I actually thought the person on the stage was an imposter. I’m an Ontarian, Canadian and have been listening to her since she first started singing almost. I miss the higher range too. Hopefully she can get it back.
