Amazing talk. As a ex-jw I have done research on charles taze russell and the cult he formed before and after leaving the cult and there were many things I didn't know! I also found out more interesting things about Rutherford the second president who actually coined the name "jehovah's witnesses" Thank you tim martin.

The history of all of these groups is fascinating to me as I believe so many of these individuals from that mid to late 1800’s time period were genuinely searching and trying to establish a modern day reformation effort- its amazing to see all of the various influences that they had on one another- I wish all of your research about this were in a book!

What gets me is that Jesus Himself said NO ONE knows when the end is coming, not even Himself. It follows then that no one can either guess or locate a date by a hidden mathematical formula. It’s a ridiculous idea to latch onto a religion that purports to know what Jesus Himself does not.

Jesus said the Father knows the time. What problems do you have with the Father? God can do as He pleases. God has a reason for everything.

Dana Smith again you are making no sense. I think you are totally misunderstanding me and that we are on the same page here. I am saying as a born again Christian, who believes that Jesus is fully God and fully man that no human being will ever be able to predict the “end of the world” or Jesus’s return. The Romans used it to send criminals to a violent, shameful death. But for Christians, it becomes a symbol of victory, not shame. Consider 1 Cor. 1:17: "For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel- not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power."

+Lee Bee WHYYY?Tim Martin abaout Basic Teachings of the Jehovah is Witnesses too much speaking so:WHY?
Bible Burning and other Allegations:There are some things in
them (Epistles of St. Paul) hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable
twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 2 Peter 3:16
Ever since the Protestant Revolt in the 16th century, the
Catholic Church has been accused of ignoring, opposing, hiding and even
destroying the Bible in order to keep it from the people. Allegedly, copies of
the Bible were chained to the walls of churches during the Middle Ages so that
people could not take them home to read. Supposedly the Church during the
Middle Ages also refused to translate the Bible into the various tongues of the
common people, the vernacular languages, in order to further hinder personal
Bible reading. Furthermore it is claimed that the Church even went as far as to
      burn vernacular Bibles.
When examining these charges against the Church, we must
consider several points. First if the Church truly wanted to destroy the Bible,
why did her monks work diligently through the centuries making copies of it?
Before the printing press (before 1450), copies of the Bible were hand written
with beauty and painstaking accuracy. One reason for Bibles being chained to
the walls of churches is because each copy was precious both spiritually and
materially. It took a monk about a year to hand copy the entire Bible, so
Bibles were scarce. The chain kept it safe from loss or theft, so all the
people of the church community (parish) could better benefit from it. Bible
      Burning and other Allegations WHY???????

If your question is sincere... The Roman Catholic Church murdered millions of Bible-believing Christians and destroyed every bit of the true Bible it could get its hands on. The textus receptus manuscripts (which means received text, as in received from Antioch) are comprised of the pieces that were left. The monks were diligently working on their tampered-with versions. The vaticanus and Sinaiticus codexes are what all Catholic approved bibles are made from. There are differences from the textus receptus manuscript versions (the Wycliffe Bible, Geneva Bible, and King James, etc... which are constantly maligned to deter people from reading them). The mysticism that has invaded the church, also comes from the Roman Catholic monks also known as the desert fathers. There were never monks in Christianity until Roman Catholicism. They learned their mysticism from the pagan monks in Alexandria, Egypt. This is where they learned contemplative prayer, breath prayers, praying with beads, the use of labyrinths, candles for the dead, meditation, and now trance-like worship and other New Age practices. These practices when bringing someone into an altered state of consciousness, open them to familiar spirits, which they will believe is God speaking to them. This is why there's so much false prophesying, lying wonders, etc.. Those who split from the Roman Catholic Church during the Reformation we're on the right track but actually didn't go quite far enough. They still kept many Roman Catholic practices. We must continue to work towards Jesus's command to "come out of her my people". She (the mother church) is the mystery Babylon religion of mother/child worship and the Protestant churches (including the many works-related cults) that were born from her are the daughters of the Harlot, unless they contend with their mother and walk away. Most of them will not however. We are approaching the time when many of the daughters are coming back under the headship of their mother for the one world religion. Many denominations and many other religions have made agreements with the Pope. The Antichrist, not only means against Christ but in place of. The Pope is called the Vicar of Christ and presumes to be his Earthly representation. This is blasphemy. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Everyone needs to be saved by believing and trusting that Jesus Christ died for their sins, was buried and Resurrected. This is an individual and personal decision and not something you can be born into or have pronounced because you are the member of any church Institution. You cannot do anything to earn your salvation. Not keeping the law, sacraments, indulgences, obeying cult leaders, etc.
Salvation is the gift of God and our righteousness is as filthy rags before the Lord. Read your Bible, rightly divided. Paul is the Apostle to the Gentiles and his writings are for the church age. Don't confuse yourself with Israel. Blessings as you seek truth, not just what your church tells you is history.

The mere fact that Dub Clubbers teach (contrary to the KJV) that 'Jesus was raised from the dead as a SPIRIT CREATURE', disqualifies those who place their faith in Dub Club dogma from any hope of salvation (1 Corinthians 15:17 - 19)

Except for tithing and marking the sabbath as Saturday, some of the teachings between the two religions seemed like they were reading each other's magazines. The sign of Circumcision and observance of the laws of Moses were an issue in the early church. A church council was convened in Jerusalem around 50 AD and the Apostles debated over which of the laws Moses had written applied to Christians. During that council the brethren settled upon four laws for Gentile converts:
*For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye [1] abstain from meats offered to idols, and [2] from blood, and [3] from things strangled, and [4] from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.* (Acts 15:28,29)
Notice that it was the "Holy Ghost" that made these requirements, and the Apostles were careful to say that "no greater burden" from the law of Moses was to be laid upon the Gentiles than these four requirements. In fact, in the same letter, the Church leaders make it clear that they never placed a burden of keeping the Mosaic law upon the Gentile converts:
*Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, [Ye must] be circumcised, **_and keep the law:_** to whom we gave no [such] commandment.* (Acts. 15:24)
This verse makes it abundantly clear that the Apostles never commanded their followers to "keep the law" of Moses. In this context, the law refers to all the ordinances and commands written by Moses in the Torah, including the passage where the Sabbath is described as a sign between God and Israel (Ex. 31:13,17). In fact, the Apostles considered that for Christians to attempt to observe the teachings of Moses in the Torah would be tantamount to "subverting your souls." There is no evidence that any of the three signs of Israel (Circumcision, Passover, Sabbath observance) were ever considered "signs" of Christianity.16 On the contrary, Paul fought vigorously against enforcing the sign of circumcision upon gentile converts (see Galatians). Paul said that Christ was the fulfillment of the Passover (1 Cor. 5:7).
Obviously, new converts were expected to follow the moral teachings of Christ which are based upon and expand upon the Ten Commandments and various moral laws in the Torah. However, if Sabbath was indeed the "sign" of Christianity, then we would expect to find some mention of it in the New Testament, but there is none. For the authors of the New Testament to leave out something as fundamental as the "sign" of Christianity would have been a major oversight!

You do not understand the doctrine that you are attacking. The verses that you are referring to are why I believe in the trinity. If we did not have verses like that, then the Bible would be teaching modalism. Modalism teaches that the father is the son, while the trinity explains that the father son and holy spirit are distinct centers of consciousness. Hence, the father is not the son, but they have the nature of the one God.

      Hi Danny,
The similarities of the LDS pre-existence and the SDA Great Controversy are very striking, but I don't know of any strong connection.
I don't think I referred directly to the Church of Christ in the video. John Thomas, founder of the Christadelphians came from the Cambellites. The Cambellites gave birth to the Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ.

Actually they do. There was a lot of religious fervor in the early to mid 1800s in New England. Much of the fervor was around the 2nd advent of Christ. Joseph Smith died in 1844, the same year that a ton of New Englanders were expecting Christ to return.
Ellen White the founder of th SDA church had a cousin who was LDS, she was known to have a Book of Mormon in her library. EGW was also a plagarist, and plagarized one of her "visions" from compare 1 Nephi 8 to Testimonies to the Church volume 2
Incidently, JWs and SDAs have a lot in common, Charles taze Russell studied with the early SDAs. He apparently took his belief in soul sleep and their avid use of the self-publishing from this group
Tim has presented at a Former Adventist conference. You can find out more about the SDA/LDS connection here

not one of the founding church fathers ever believed that Jesus was the Arch angel Michael. Also, JW's have falsely predicted the end times 8 times. Either Jesus lied when he said to Peter "upon this rock I will build my church " or he was mistaken. JW's theology is a recent false revelation. Also, it's always interesting when cults try and predict the end times or on Jesus's return when even Jesus himself said he didn't know when the time is but ONLY the father. Hmmm...

+joe stitch The original Hebrew and Greek texts show the use of Jehovah's Name about 7000 times more than Jesus 'name. Jesus ' name means Jehovah is Salvation. Jehovah's NAME means He Causes To Become. Many Bible translations distort the original meaning of Bible texts to support their religious bias. Christendom's scribes inputted what would support the Trinity and Hellfire doctrine which was used to convert PAGANS and they took Jehovah's Name out of His Own Word the Bible but kept the false gods names in it such as Satan, Molech, Baal and even the god of good luck.
Christendom's church members claim belief in Jesus but Satan and the demons believe in him too. Christendom's church members do not obey Jesus' Own Words even from their own copy of the Bible. For instance John 1:18; Luke 10:1-11. Do YOU obey Jesus when he commanded his true followers to share the Kingdom good news with YOUR Neighbors at their HOMES?! Jehovah God, Jesus Christ and the heavenly angels KNOW if You do or not and if YOU don't then you may be deemed bloodguilty before Jehovah God and Jesus Christ and hypocrites are condemned by Jesus -Matt 24:51.
Satan quoted from the Bible too and twisted Jehovah's Words to suit his means to lie-John 8:44;Matt 4:10. Non-worshippers of Jehovah God including Christendom's church members will receive JEHOVAH 's reply and at Armageddon they will be deemed "wicked" and destroyed forever -Prov 27:11; Psalms 37:10.
Jehovah God Knows who and what HE IS and wicked mortal sinful imperfect weak good for nothing senseless foolish stupid humans can't tell HIM about Himself!!!! In the end they won't be alive to continue to Dishonor His Name and Sovereignty and if you are one of them then so be it. Just as You are not sorry for dishonoring Jehovah God He won't feel sorry for You if You are destroyed and neither will Jesus nor the angels -Rev 4:11;Rom 1:20;Matt 6:9,10;Ezek 7:3,4;Matt 24:29,30;Matt 25:31-33.

I have a question .. do Arianism and conditional immortality go hand in hand ?
I do know sda are trinitarian but they have some arian influence due to their pioneers (George storrs, Joseph bates, James white)
But would you say Arianism and conditional immortality go together ? Or they’re separate

    • @TimMartin
      @TimMartin  6 лет назад

You question comes at an interesting time. I just spoke at a former adventist fellowship in California. I would so no, that conditional immortality and Arianism are not dependent on each other.
You are correct that the early Adventist were Arian. But you may be surprised that modern Adventism does not accept the Biblical trinity. They have redefined the words "God" and "Trinity." Their beliefs are mostly "Tri-theism." But, there is a movement by some to return to the Arian roots. My next video I will be positing will probably by on my talk at the conference on this very subject. If you subscribe, you will see how they have misrepresented their beliefs to make people think they believe the trinity.
For now, I will leave you with a quote from the book "The Trinity" written by 3 Adventist scholars:
“It is true that the Council of Nicaea and the Council of Constantinople did make declarations that we must now reject because they disagree with Scripture.” The Trinity, 2006, 150

Mis interpretation of NWT - Yesus = a creation.
The purpose of Colossians was to counter the false teaching of idolatry & demands of the Roman Emperors to be treated as "god" (same policy for all Roman colonial Empires). In Colossians 1:15-20 , which the emphasis was The Lord Yesus as "Eternal God" & had higher status than all creation / all creation in & by Him; if Yesus was a creation too so it was not in accordance with its original purpose.
NASB-Col 1:15 first born of all creation (not means Yesus was a creation)
Col 1: 16 - 17 to explain "first born of all creation" ( in & by Yesus all creation began/should be created in & by Yesus (Word); so if no word, no creation & if yesus(Word) just a creation and when word NOT YET exist so Yesus created in & by what & Which article in bible ? pls see Col1:16-17; john 1:1-3; Psalms 33:6 = creation in & by Word only).
Have same meaning =John 1:1-3; Col 1:15-17 and Rev 3:14 - Yesus = beginning of the creation of God ; not the first creation by God.
If a creation ; Yesus should be called "the 2nd exist" ; not "the1st exist" or not suitable with john 1:1-3; Col 1:15-17

The answer to the question is in the east, the Eastern Orthodox Church is the original church established by the Apostles on the Day of Pentecost. The Eastern Orthodox has an unbroken line of Apostolic succession since the age of the Apostles. The Latins broke away from the Apostolic church in 1054 and your Evangelical church started in 1617 as a result of the Reformation which resulted in thousands of denominations who all contradict each other. Evangelicalism results in the individual becoming the pope and you get to interpret the Scriptures in any way you want.

    • @TimMartin
      @TimMartin  6 лет назад +1

Your church is far from following clear Biblical teaching. It denies too much to be considered a body that is truly following the teaching of the apostles. You are far more on target than the Roman Catholic Church, but still enough away to be illegitimate.

      @@TimMartin
Your church is simply the result of a corrupt Roman Catholic church founded after the Reformation. You're very much a part of the cult system like the Watchtower. You even venerate the KJV, a poor translation of the Scriptures. The pagan word "Easter" is in your holy book whereas the Eastern Orthodox celebrate Pascha (Passover) which is what the Apostles celebrated. That makes your church an illigetimate child of the Reformation. The Apostles also recognised the Sacrament of the Eucharist which has been reduced to a "symbol" in your fake brand of Christianity. You don't have any sense of history or tradition in your church. All you've got is the KJV, so you end up venerating a poorly translated book and waiting for the "end of the world". You ought to get yourself baptised into Eastern Orthodoxy to experience the original church established by the Apostles in the book of Acts.

Russell thought he could sell the silly theology of Pyramidology , this where and when he started on about gentile times ending, Jesús retuned invisibly and Armageddon was most likely to occur in 1914. When Russell died the guy who took over reused 1914 to make that the year Jesus had retuned invisibly and that event also started the End Times . "This Generation "doctrine. False apostate teaching all over the place but were viably effective to lure people to literature and even make them into public sales representatives for this religious' publishing house. 😳

    1 Corinthians 15:22-28
.For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive. But each one in his own proper order: Christ the first fruits, afterward those who belong to the Christ during his presence.
Next, the end, when he hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power.
For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. For God "subjected all things under his feet."
But when he says that ‘all things have been subjected,’ it is evident that this does not include the One who subjected all things to him. But when all things will have been subjected to him,
then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone.

+James JAH Avey WHYYY?Tim Martin abaout Basic Teachings of the Jehovah is Witnesses too much speaking so:WHY?

    Matthew 22:1-6
.Jesus spoke to them with illustrations, saying: 2 “The Kingdom of the heavens may be likened to a king who made a marriage feast for his son. And he sent his slaves to call those invited to the marriage feast, but they were unwilling to come. Again he sent other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Look! I have prepared my dinner, my bulls and fattened animals are slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the marriage feast.”’ But unconcerned they went off, one to his own field, another to his business; but the rest, seizing his slaves, treated them insolently and killed them.
    Matthew 22:7-10
The king grew wrathful and sent his armies and killed those murderers and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his slaves, ‘The marriage feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Therefore, go to the roads leading out of the city, and invite anyone you find to the marriage feast.’ Accordingly, those slaves went out to the roads and gathered all they found, both wicked and good; and the room for the wedding ceremonies was filled with those dining.
    Matthew 22:11-14
.When the king came in to inspect the guests, he caught sight of a man not wearing a marriage garment. So he said to him, ‘Fellow, how did you get in here without a marriage garment?’ He was speechless. Then the king said to his servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and throw him into the darkness outside. There is where his weeping and the gnashing of his teeth will be.’
“For there are many invited, but few chosen.”

+Tim Spangler It is nuts how they presume Jesus was never resurrected, but only in spirit, and there is no evidence to support that yet they hold to that presumption as hard truth despite all the Biblical accounts he was resurrected, not a fake resurrection, but for real. Yet it is not so incredible that god intends to resurrect all dead JW's and anyone worthy of a second chance to follow JW doctrine if they missed out on it. So Jesus's resurrection is too incredible to fathom -yet it's not too incredible when Jehovah wants to resurrect everyone else in creation deemed worthy. Sorry Jesus you can't get the full upgrade you just get the trial version.. Um.... Yeah I don't get that.

The Bible very clearly shows that only Jehovah, the Almighty God and heavenly Father of Jesus is the source of all creation. Psalm 36: 9 says, referring to the Creator Jehovah (YHWH):
"Because you are the source of life"
Most versions of the Bible removes the name of God and replaces it with the title "Lord", including this passage. Many, when they read this verse, believe and preach that this "Lord" refers to Jesus.
The first creation of Jehovah (their only direct creation), his only Son Jesus is referred to as the channel through which it caused that all creation came into being. Yes, "Your son, whom he appointed heir of all things" is mentioned as a Firstborn Son.
"Through [only Son] that God made the world." - Heb. 1: 2.
"All things came into being through him .... The world came into existence through the Son of God" - John 1: 3,10. New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
In many versions of the Bible can not understand it correctly. This is because they fail to apply exactly the Greek preposition. The best-known evangelical version in Brazil, Almeida, not to apply precisely. So this promotes a misunderstanding.
We read in John 1: 3 and 10 in the King James Version: "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made of what came to be" --- John 1: 3
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation, for through him all other things were created in heaven and on earth." - Colossians 1: 14-16
So what is meant when God said, "I alone stretched out the heavens, when I made the earth" --- Isaiah 44:24 (Good News Translation)
There is no contradiction with Isaiah to say that Jehovah alone was the Creator, and also with the text of Colossians 1: 13-23 saying that Jesus was the agent used for the purpose of the Creator. In the text of Isaiah 44:24, Jehovah is mentioned in an active sense, the Creator. But in Colossians 1: 13-23, and in some other places, Jesus Christ is only the passive agent of the one Creator, Jehovah. The Supreme God is the one who creates, but actively uses his only Son as a "collaborator master." Isaiah's context does not address the question of whether Jehovah God used someone in the creation or not. The biblical context is a contrasting comparison between the Creator and the false gods. BDB Lexicon on the page 94 gives a definition of the Hebrew word used in Isaiah 44:24, (alone) as meaning "acting independently". In that sense, Jehovah did not need the help of false gods, in the context of creation. But the activity of Christ in creation is never described as being independent but collaborative. Jehovah often says it does something "alone" BDB lexicon lists the use of ADB in Isaiah 63: 3, where Jehovah indicates that "he alone" acted when he demanded vengeance upon Edom. But it was not Jehovah who personally punished these people, but the Most High used men as agents who were active instruments of divine purpose. then we can ask: Is there a contradiction here? Or just means that Jehovah was the source of retribution? Deuteronomy 32:12 says: "Jehovah alone led them"
Jehovah was the "one", guiding Israel? Exodus 32: 32-34 says that Jehovah used Moses and an angel to lead Israel! (1 Samuel 9: 16; 13: 13-14 & 2 Samuel 5: 1-2). Again, there is no contradiction here. Jehovah used his agents representatives who have been appointed to lead his people, but "only" He "was the source of direction!" In Ezekiel 36:33, 36, Jehovah says: "I myself will build" the cities of Israel after the exile. How it was rebuilt by Jehovah? It would have been people who did the work under his direction? All these acts were done with permission and authority of Jehovah alone, but there were other people who then participated. Therefore, Jesus Christ actually only made the divine purpose of salvation happen in practice because the purpose architected the salvation of people who have repented on earth proceeded before the Almighty, Jehovah! the Supreme God said, Sovereign Lord Jehovah of Hosts in Isaiah 43:11 "I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior." This indeed always deserves to be heard with great attention and respect!

Homero Signorini Revelation 1:8: ""I am the Alpha and the Omega" says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty " " NRSV. The NWT adds in the word 'Jehovah' here, though not in the Greek.
Revelation 1:1 says Jesus is the one speaking to John.
Revelation 1:12-16 describes Jesus is the one with the sword in his mouth, in agreement with Watchtower teaching I recall.
Rev 1:17 says "I am the first and the last". Alpha and Omega of verse 8 means first and last. Therefore according to NWT Jesus is Jehovah. All other bibles just say he is Almighty God.
      Voilà!

A lot of bibles have a trinitarian leaning. Bibles, in general, are somewhat biased to whomever puts it together. Jesus was the creation of YHVH. Jehovah is the english version. 1 God, 1 Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit. Separate. Jesus is the son, the creation of God almighty YHVH, the creator of all living things.

For she keeps saying in her heart: ‘I sit as queen, and I am not a widow, and I will never see mourning.’+ 8 That is why in one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine, and she will be completely burned with fire,+ because Jehovah* God, who judged her, is strong.+

The work made by faithful slave is splendid. Please, see: Really, in fact, we do not know now for sure the correct pronunciation it was pronounced before, but that is more accepting of God's name to the English language is Jehovah, and is part of all official dictionary of the English language available to all literate people. There is also the pronunciation of the divine name in thousands of other languages, only this pronunciation of the divine name change accord, as well as change the name of Jesus, which is also written with the letter J.
Although the discussion about its origin and meaning, many scholars claim that the original vowel sounds in Hebrew Tetragrammaton YHWH will never be known, and are thus lost the original pronunciation. But this is not an excuse not to pronounce the name of God, for there is the fact that even the name of Jesus in the original pronunciation in Hebrew possibly be pronounced that way: Yeshua or Yehoshua, but no one knows for sure. However, people around the world use different forms of the name Jesus, pronouncing it in the usual way in your language. They do not leave never to use the Son of God's name just because they do not know how it was pronounced there first century. And we have to comply with Acts 15: 14-17 beyond what Joel 2:32 and Romans 10:13 must be fulfilled.
This controversy has been going on for hundreds of years. Currently, there are many scholars seem to favor the name "Yahweh," two syllables. Still, we know that in Hebrew or Aramaic, it did not use vowels, was composed only of consonants.
However, considering some examples of names found in the Holy Bible, including an abbreviated form of God's name in Jehovah translation, learned by George Wesley Buchanan, professor emeritus at the Theological Seminary of Wesley, Washington DC, USA, that these names themselves can give us an indication of how to pronounce the name of God in ancient times.
George Wesley Buchanan explains: "In ancient times, parents often give their children the names of their deities This means that pronounced the children's names as well as to pronounce the name of the deity The Tetragrammaton was included in the names of people, and they.. always wore the middle vowel." For example, Jonathan appears as (Yoh.na.thán or Yehoh.na.thán) in the Hebrew Bible, means "Yahoo or Yahowah gave." The prophet's name is Elias 'E.li.yáh or' E.li.yá.hu. According to Prof. Buchanan, Elijah means "My God is Yahoo or Yahoo-wah." Similarly, the Hebrew name for Jehoshaphat (Yehoh-sha.phát), means "Yahoo judged".
The pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton with two syllables, as Yahweh (or Yahweh), would not allow the existence of the vowel sound as part of God's name. But in dozens of biblical names that incorporate the divine name, the sound of this middle vowel appears in both the original forms and in abbreviated as Jeonatan and Jonathan.
Professor Buchanan tells us about the Divine Name: "In no case omit the vowel oo or oh The word was sometimes abbreviated as 'yah' but never as 'Ya-veh' ... When the Tetragrammaton was pronounced.. with one syllable it was' Yah 'or' Yoh. "When it was pronounced with three syllables, was' YaHoo.VaH 'or' YaHooVaH '. So if it was ever abbreviated to two syllables, would have been like' YaHoo'" - '' Biblical Archaeology Review ''
It is also follows another statement made by scholar Hebraist Wilhelm Gesenius, the work Dictionary Hebrew and Chaldean of the Old Testament Scriptures (in German): "Those who think that הוהי [Ye-Ho-Vah] was the real pronunciation [Name God] are not entirely without basis to defend their opinion. Thus can be explained more satisfactorily the abbreviated syllables והי [Ye-Ho] and וי [Yo], with starting many names. " On the issue of translation of the Five Books of Moses, Everett Fox said: "Both the old attempts as new, to retrieve the correct pronunciation of the Hebrew name [of God] were not successful, you can not prove Jehovah conclusively we hear sometimes not the learned pattern Yahweh (Iahveh) "the YAHVEH name was used in Catholic Bibles approved by the pope at the time.
The original pronunciation of יהוה (YHWH) is unknown, but for centuries the use of Jehovah translation, became widely known and established among many Christians, and also by the Jews of the Diaspora, becoming a familiar and popular pronunciation in many languages, so many religious groups, most notably Jehovah's Witnesses continue to use it, although many other religious groups favor the pronunciation Yahweh or Yahweh, or even the title Lord. Although the latter, being only a title, it will distort the original meaning of some biblical texts in the name of God appears.
Some writers and translators define Yahweh (read: Yahweh) which means "I am who I am" or "I Am That I Am" or "I will become What I decide Me Become" (I am), 5th century BC and Jehovah (read: Jehovah). which means "This is my Name Forever" or "This is my name Forever" (Eternal), 13th century CE
The origin comes from Exodus 3: 14-15 "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM And he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel. I AM has sent me to you: And God said to Moses: Thus shalt thou say to children of Israel: the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and also this is my memorial generation to generation. "
Here's how some versions of the Holy Scriptures transcribe the Tetragrammaton (YHWH) as pronounced Jehovah:
The King James Version (authorized), in English the year 1611 transcribes four times as the personal name of God as Jehovah (all texts consider relevant), for example, Exodus 6: 3; Psalm 83:18; Isaiah 12: 2; Isaiah 26: 4; and even three times along certain place names: Genesis 22:14; Exodus 17:15; and Judges 6:24.
The Emphatic Diaglott, Benjamin Wilson, 1864, also in English translated the tetragrammaton YHWH in his New Testament as Jehovah in Luke 20:42, Acts 2:34 and other verses.
The Standard Version American edition 1901 in English language consistently translates the Tetragrammaton as Je-ho'vah in all 6,823 places where it occurs in the Hebrew Scriptures.
    The New English Bible that was printed in the English language and published by the University Press Oxford, 1970, translated as Jehovah for example in Genesis 22:14; Exodus 3: 15,16; 6: 3; 17:15; Judges 6:24;
    The Bible printed and published by Viva Publishers Tyndale House, Illinois 1971 translates as Jehovah in Genesis 22:14, Exodus 4: 1-27; 17:15; Leviticus 19: 1-36; Deuteronomy 4:29, 39; 5: 5, 6; Judges 6:16, 24; Psalms 83:18; 110: 1; Isaiah 45: 1, 18; Amos 5: 8; 6: 8; 9: 6;
The Holy Bible King James in Portuguese language published first Original Edition, 1693:
Employed thousands of times in the Jehovah form, as can be seen in the reprint, 1693, 1750, 1812, 1860 and 1870. The Revised Edition and Fixed (1948) retains the name in its modernized form (Jehovah) in places such as Psalm 83:18; Isaiah 12: 2 among others, and extensively in the book of Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
La Santa Bible - Version Reina-Valera Spanish Language (1909): Reportedly the divine name Jehova translated from YHWH.
The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures which is the version used by Jehovah's Witnesses who restored the Tetragrammaton YHWH in all the parties that were in the original to the name "Jehovah":
Below we can see a list of pronunciation of the divine name:
    Afrikaans Jehova Romanian Iehova

Therefore, the enemies of Supreme name Jehovah, the true God, could not cover the sun with a sieve and are wiping ice when they try to gossip that the name was invented by a Catholic monk of the 13th century CE. The information that is correct is available to the sincere heart seeking love the heavenly Father of Jesus Christ and pray to him in Matthew 6: 9,10. "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." What was the name that had been presented by the own Creator? Jehovah! --- Psalm 83:18

aalborg vandet, who is Jesus Christ? It is written, "Without father, without mother, without descend, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God: abideth a priest continually."(Hebrews 7:3) This sounds like Jesus Christ was from eternity/everlasting.(Micah 5:2) It is written again, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and for ever."(Hebrews 13:8) It is written, "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last: and beside me there is no God."(Isaiah 44:6) Now, let's break down this scripture and analyze it. There are two Divine Entities here: ("the LORD the King of Israel") and his redeemer ("the LORD of hosts"): I am the first, and I am the last: beside me there is no God. The word "Elohim" is a plural word in Hebrew that means "God," depending on the context. For those who have ears, The LORD the King of Israel is Jesus Christ (Revelation 1-17-18) and the LORD of host is Yahweh. It is written, "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not: I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."(Revelation 1:17-18) Jesus Christ is God! He's the first and the last.

I am not an expert on JWs. I am, however, something of an expert on SDAs. There are two glaring inaccuracies in this presentation.
First, the Investigative judgement is different from 'the judgement' of other more mainstream churches only in when it happens. The investigative judgement happens before the second coming. The mainstream judgement usually is said to happen
when you die. The investigative judgement nor getting to heaven is based on Sabbath keeping. Adventists acknowledge that there will be people from every kindred, tribe and faith in heaven. They also teach that heaven is based on your relationship to Christ.
Second, while there are definitely Adventists who put EGW ahead of the Bible, her own writings says that they should be used as secondary sources. Adventists follow the Protestant position of sola scriptora.

    • @TimMartin
      @TimMartin  10 лет назад +4

I disagree that the investigative judgement (IJ) is the same as mainstream churches except for timing. The IJ is a judgement about works, not faith. Only true believers will be judged (hence, atheists, Muslims, etc, are not part of it). But only those true believes who keep all of the commandments will pass Jesus' review and allowed full salvation. Keeping the Sabbath is one very important commandment, but all others must be kept. So yes, paulaegraham, one must have a relationship with Christ, but that only qualifies you for the IJ. I will provide quotes if you need. The other mainstream evangelical churches would say that judgement has been suspended based on the work of Christ due to faith alone (John 5:24).
Secondly, true, some SDAs put EGW ahead of the Bible, and others might follow the protestant position. But the organization itself places EGW above the Bible. Consider this quote from the "SDA Believe" book:
"Her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which
provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction.
She has been given inspired instruction for God’s people living
during the time of the end,”(255).
Hence, it is not merely important commentary on the Bible, but her instruction in inspired and an "authoritative source for truth." She claimed to be the Lord's messenger, which term (according to her) carries more than what "prophet" signifies.
      Tim

Paul said that if he died, he would be with Christ (Phil 2:23). It sounds clear to me that he is saying that this happens immediately. For those who will not be saved, their judgment is future. Hence, they would not be in hell, but waiting for the judgement. Believers have escaped judgement (John 5:24). This does not mean that the person not saved stops existing until the judgment. If so, then the person who is resurrected would not be the same person who died...they would only be a duplicate that thinks they are the original person. I don't believe God will be punishing duplicates, but the very people who have denied him.

If you go by strictly what the Bible teaches you will see the organization honors Jehovah with their lips but their hearts is far from Him
    3 reasons why
    1st reason is
    2nd timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
That means scriptures are not supposed to be changed words added or changed to fit a narrative and reason 2 and three if you look at
The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures that the organization used to make the NWT Bible you can see they added "a" to John 1:1 while the original Greek says "and God was the Word" And in John 8:58 the organization put "before Abraham was I have been" the original Greek says "before Abraham was I AM"
I'd you choose to deny that your definitely blinded and have a problem
Luke 12:8-9 (KJV) Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
John 3:18 (KJV) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God

One reason I doubt I said it is that, is you are right, that is faulty reasoning. I would say that that the problem was that the movement began in error with false predictions and misuse of the Bible. Therefore, the streams that it produced that maintained the faulty use of the Bible are in error for not rejecting the obviously faulty foundation.

The Bible repeatedly reveals the devil as a created being who is a fallen angel. Using the word "personification" is just a way of justifying how twisted scripture doesn't fit with revealed truth. "The personification of human sin" can't cause a war in HEAVEN which convinces a third of the angels to fight against God's loyal angels. "The personification of human sin" can't have actual conversations with Jesus. Nor can it fight over Moses' bones or come before God to accuse Job.

For the record, the people that you refer to as Mormons don’t want to be evangelical. They question and dismiss the evangelical movement as being just as splintered and man made as you do to the denominations that you mention in this video.
Besides that it was very interesting to hear this information and how it all ties back to the Millerite movement.

Have you read Insider's View of Mormon Origins? Have you read the scholar Dan Vogel?

Christians still believe the same rule of faith outlined by Ireanus in the 2nd century. They still believe what clement and igantius taught about God and the way of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Reformation Christians still worship the same God and have the same way of salvation that Luther, Calvin, and all the Reformers taught.

@@truthisbeautiful7492 I don’t need to read a book full of debunked claims, eg DNA evidence, and witnesses only seeing with “spiritual eyes”
Anti Mormon arguments are the same dribble regurgitated over and over again
