Great video Jake, thanks for posting. When I mount my DJI wireless mic receiver where the screen points forward, same direction as the camera is pointing, it interferes with the video recording. Happens even in dewarp. Not a big deal, I just have to turn the receiver backwards. Do you notice the same?
Yeah because the camera field of view is so wide the DJI mic has to be facing the rear or it will be in the shot

a great survey in real outdoor conditions, which proves a great and innovative camera, especially when you compare it with the gopro 12 which just comes out now and is just a minor update to the gopro 11, and so , a great deception.. DJI definitely steals the show. I had 5 or 6 gopros before, but now I am switching to DJI

Couple questions
1.. what sharpness & noise levels are you using as the quality looks great
2.. when shooting in 4K 60fps the front screen goes blank and says doesn’t support this.
Is this correct or do I to adjust something.

I turn the sharpness down to -2 (and then sharpen a little bit in post) and noise reduction down to -1. in 4k60 the front and rear screens will go dark due to the processing requirements. It cannot show a live display and record higher than 4k30 at the same time. it would cause too much heat build up

Hi Jake. At 6:30 were you shooting with the ND filter on the Action 4? I notice some stabilization jittering even in daylight.
yes and ND filters do negatively affect stabilization

Dear Jake thank you for the very informative review. I own a great mirrorless camera in my Nikon Z6. I want to add a action camera, biggest purpose will be underwater photography for travelling. What you think of the photo quality of this action camera? Especially the burst mode.
The Action produces decent photos, I have a GOPro 12 arriving today to test and compare so if you wait a few days I'll have an answer out for you on that!

Hi! I'm your new subsciber here. Pls advice me whats the best settings to capture video that's easy to edit. I shoot 4K 50pfs in my Action4 and its lagging when I edit. Os 4K 24pfs good enough?
I would shoot at 4k 30 or even 2.7k 30 and it should be easier to edit

Osmo Action 4 is really great, and is as good as ONE RS with 1 inch sensor in low light.

Does Dji Action 4 Support Orthers Mic (Type C) ?
it supports many mics that have usb c out but I have only been able to test a few
I am really confused, I have OA1 and would like to upgrade to OA4 or GP12. Both have cons and pros.

I wish they increase some sensor resolution.
I do too but even without the resolution increase the quality is almost on par with the 5.3k of the gopro 11

Around 06:43 the focus seems to go off with every step Jake makes. It continues till 07:00. You can see it clearly on the top left mountain range. Is this normal ?
That’s the stabilization dealing with my very heavy foot falls.
Is there any gimbal compatible with DJI Action 4?
I think probably but I haven't looked just yet, The stabilization is very good overall without a gimbal

Been using Action 2 as dashcam, but it often overheats and shuts down. Would like to know would Action 4 work better in the same job. Great video Jake!
This will do much better. I haven’t done any direct tests but @davidmanning has and it will give you a really good idea about how much better the overheating is handled with the action 4
Terrible use case for an action 2. If u want a dash Cam, buy a dash Cam... not an action camera
This title is true maybe until after Sept. 15 when the Hero 12 is announced???
If gopro will unleash a 1in sensor camera and fix the issues gopro is being criticized for then it might be a great cam. Too bad Sony missed out on that opportunity when they had the Sony RX0 II with 1in sensor but terrible stabilization and they didn't want to market it as an 'action cam'.
I have hero 8 for a long time and now added the Action 3 i love them both, though. DJI could have added significant changes to blow out gopro but just did incremental ones.
I can't wait to see what Gopro releases

Yep. Not trying to hold it steady at all so foot falls are sharp and hard to stabilize

Unless GoPro can address the battery life and overheating issues, they will remain behind DJI in reliability. So far my action 3’s have never overheated when in use in my plane, exposed in harsh direct sunlight. My GoPro 10’s overheat and shut down in the cabin usually within the first 30 minutes.
@@GrummanCheetahPilot DJI osmo Action 4 has worse overheating problems than GoPro Hero 11 and this is proven, inform yourself.
Besides that, DJIs exposure is wrong, clipping in highlights and lack of detail in footage. Yes it is better in the dark but in the light the parts are reversed. Anyway DJI has anticipated the release but the GoPro is supposed to have the one inch sensor, so I for one will wait and see.
one thing missing: how can you review this camera while using external mic? the majority of users don't use extra mic - you would help them all if your entire video is done on DJI with built in mic. Just saying

If you watch the video only about 50% of the audio in the video was the DJI mic. The rest was the built in audio. You can hear a clear difference…

I can tell A4 is a good camera. But GoPro is a good Action camera. What's why DJI can't wait GP12.

have you ever shot any action camera at 12,800 iso? of course there is noise but it cleans up well and you really should never be shooting on action cameras at that high of ISO

I’ve been enjoying the Action 4, has replaced my GoPro for now. It’s not perfect and the low light performance Vs GoPro is inconsistent but might be firmware related but I love the user experience, the more natural wide angle and the colour profile.

DJI really needs to do something about the micro jitters already. Also, the app should have the denoise functionality.
The micro jitters are because I had ND filters on. In my video comparing the hero 12 I’ll explain why
