  • Trabectome is a new minimally invasive surgery to treat glaucoma. During the procedure, the ophthalmologist makes a tiny incision (1.6 mm) in the eye to access the eye's internal drainage system which is affected by glaucoma. Dr. Sushma Rai, who performs Trabectome at The Nebraska Medical Center says the surgery is quick; usually lasting less than 30 minutes.
Dr. Rai is the only ophthalmologist in the region offering Trabectome surgery.

I appreciated your presentation. I was diagnosed with pigmented glaucoma and I would like to know how long approximately the trabectome last. I am 37 and I would like to know how long this surgery would last before another surgery .
    thanks

Hi Bo... Unfortunately data on the long-term success of this procedure is not yet available since it is relatively new.

I began evangelizing Trabectome as a registered medical sales rep (2014) working diligently with all 100+ glaucoma specialists in the U.S. who wanted to learn. We made Trabectome available at every Ophthalmic conference in the U.S. for many years out of a passion for truth in medical practice and patient data. Problem was that Trabectome doesn't have it's own reimbursement code rendering it '"unattractive" to the economics of surgeons and their surgery centers, and God forbid hospitals' income statements. So they put hardware in your eye(s) instead. Idiots. Profiteers. Benjamins.... sick.

@@tedmortenson Yeah Ted, it's sick how doctors prefer not to literally lose money on a procedure. I suppose you'll be paying the difference?
