Awesome, glad to hear it helped! It's always nice to feel like your goods trains on the layout have a purpose rather than just empty wagons running around. Thanks for watching 😃
Thanks Marcus, my aim with these types of videos is to present it in a clear way so that people can have a go themselves if they want to. Thanks for watching 😃
A good explanation, excellent result. Why not super glue a steel washer to the underside of the card and use a magnet to remove the load without having to lift the wagon.
I used hard cardboard, and for the supports I cut a long strip and then bent it into a v shape to glue it to the base, ive found it helps with "unloading" the load
Hi there just a quick idea I glue a small magnet on the card and then pant and glue the load. Then I have a magnet on a lollipop stick to lift the the load off so I don't need to tip the wagon upside down
Shh, that was going to be my next video! 😉 But I agree, it's a great way to have more realistic running if you want freight trains to leave full and come back empty. Thanks for watching 👍
Living in Leighton Buzzard, it's always nice to see the Arnold Sands wagons. The loads look great. Have you tried doing a sand load for the Arnold Sands wagons as they would have carried sand originally.
Thanks! That's a great idea, you're right having a sand load would be much better. I imagine it would be a similar process to doing the coal but I'll have to give it a try some day. Thanks for watching 😃
i like it.... each load would look different and can be removed...... Another option is to use Pound Stop sponge cut to shape and the same watered down PVA mix. The sponge becomes stiff but can still be removed.
Yeah it does add another layer of detail to the layout. Ah I'd never thought of using sponge! Might have to try that next time I make some. Thanks for watching 😃
Borrowed a couple of pieces of coal from the Flying Scotsman in the 70's and smashed them into little pieces in the 80's. I used some packaging foam for the base.
True but they're not as convenient to remove if running empty stock. Plus you need to have both materials to hand instead of just card which most people already have. Thanks for watching 👍
Hey Jack, I have to admit I buy coal from the retailers that is already at the correct scale so I'm afraid I can't help you there. Thanks for watching 😃
Hi there, I don't see why not. Model railways are all about creativity so you're free to come up with your own techniques. I would say it probably won't look as realistic as using crushed coal like I did in the video but it's definitely worth a try and it won't cost you anything other than a bit of paint. Thanks for watching 😃
What about them? I'm sure you could adapt this technique to replace the plastic coal to those as well if that's what you're asking. Thanks for watching 😃
Now that is a great looking coal load, definitely getting a tub of that at some point,
It's definitely good stuff, really works well for creating nice coal loads. Thanks for watching 👍
I keep meaning to do my wagons. Great video. Thank you.
It's definitely worth it. I spent an afternoon doing all mine and it's made a big difference to my layout! Thanks for watching 😃
Thanks for the tutorial! My trucks always looked very bare but now they look far better!
Awesome, glad to hear it helped! It's always nice to feel like your goods trains on the layout have a purpose rather than just empty wagons running around. Thanks for watching 😃
Excellent video as always. Love your enthusiasm & great explanation. Many thanks👍
Thanks, I try to keep things as engaging as possible! Thanks for watching 😃
Excellent speed - no waffle. And good tips too.
Glad you enjoyed it, yeah I like to get straight to the point as much as I can. 😄Thanks for watching 👍
definitely going to do this as soon as I can
Great to hear! It's well worth it in my opinion. Thanks for watching 😃
I like the narration and the way how you showed how you made it
Thanks Marcus, my aim with these types of videos is to present it in a clear way so that people can have a go themselves if they want to. Thanks for watching 😃

I feel like you'll enjoy this follow up video I did shortly after this one: ruclips.net/video/DOfnVUoFK28/видео.html 😉 Thanks for watching 👍

Cool, yeah whatever way works for you. That's the beauty with this hobby, there's no wrong way to do it. Thanks for watching 👍
Great video , will have to do this for a few of my open wagons too .
Go for it, it's definitely made a big difference to my layout! Thanks for watching 😃
That's a great tip. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😃
Great tutorial! Very helpful, thank you so much!
Thanks Harry, really glad to hear you found this useful. Thanks for watching 😃
I did a similar load with decorative sand for a ballast load. I use some foam That I recycled from some packaging. Looking forward to tryout the coal.
Ah fantastic, great to hear it also works with foam too! Thanks for watching 😃
thanks I will use this tutorial when I can
Awesome, glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching 😃

This seems like a good way to make them
Yep, nice and simple. No need to overcomplicate it. Thanks for watching 😃
Loving the videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great to hear it! Thanks for watching 😃
Such good way to do that ! i'd always just put some ballast in them 😂
It definitely makes the loads look a bit more realistic and is really easy to do. Thanks for watching 😃

Looks like you are ballasting!!!!
It's certainly very similar! There's only so many ways you can stick down tiny little rocks after all 😂 Thanks for watching 👍
great stuff , i've been doing the same with mine too... better (play value)... cheers for another entertaining video... Neil
Definitely! It's amazing how small little things like this just add an little extra layer of realism to the layout. Thanks for watching 😃
hiya. very good idea that. i am going to do the same as you. cheers tom.
Thanks Tom, glad it's inspired you to do the same. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy cheers mate.
i burn a small piece of wood and crush it up , brilliant coal
Awesome, nice bit of budget modelling there! 👍 Thanks for watching 😃

Nice! That's definitely one way of getting a realistic coal load, and a great keepsake with a cool story too. Thanks for watching 😃

what's the best way to crush the coal everything i do i have bits fly everywhere
Hey Jack, I have to admit I buy coal from the retailers that is already at the correct scale so I'm afraid I can't help you there. Thanks for watching 😃
I've got an idea for doing this, could you just scramble up some paper and paint it?
