@AikiTom76 I must have been thinking of the 8 directional sword cut, which is linked to shiho nage movement, just with an extra 4 intermediate directions added. But you are absolutely right, thanks for correcting me. I'll amend the description. Cheers!

To just think o the science of the human body that has gone into Aikido. As I teach “ JUST SAY HI. It’s amazing just how powerful the Hand is.

Your right about Happo Giri 8 directions & it's connection to Shihonage. However Shihonage means 4 directions. Your both right in a sense!

Why no one mentions Daitoryuaikijutjisu where aikido comes from because it was more brutal and a truly self defense martial art over 800 years old please check it out

I regard 4 direction throw as meaning "all directions throw", because the body movement comes around in a circle. It is an exercise in circular motion - I move my centre and the circular movement takes uke's arm with its ki back over itself in a corresponding circle or spiral. The drill known as "4 direction or 8 direction cutting" is an exercise on a different aikido principle. It is an exercise or a drill rather than a technique.

If you have for. Then you have 8. If 8 then you have 16 using both left hand and right hand position.

@buzz magister it actually counts out to 16. Octagon. Left side the right side.

@buzz magister I guess we are saying the same thing. But from a different perspective.
