This concert was the first rock concert of my life, I was twelve and my dear (cool!) parents drove my sister and me down from Jackson Mississippi to New Orleans for this incredible event! I was racing across the football field toward the stage when I felt a strong hand on my right upper arm. . . the gig was up. A policeman led me back to the stands. What a magical night!
@93Jubilee: I did the same thing only - I wouldn’t let up. - a repeat offender. Finally got to the stage as they were leaving. I’ve only recently wondered what the heck did I think I was going to do had I actually been able to reach any one of them. 😂
Today is September 16, 2023. Hard to believe that it has been 59 years since I attended that concert. September 16, 1964 is emblazoned in my brain and will be until the day that I die. It was an almost magical day for me and everyone else that was there. The excitement and fun was palpable. A great memory from early youth.
Not as "The Beatles", but individually they did return to New Orleans (be it for playing or pleasure), except for Lennon, sadly. Though he was asked by McCartney to visit him there in the 70s when he was recording "Venus and Mars", other things came up and Lennon never made the trip.

This is NEVER going to happen again!!!
@beatlejim64: Never ever. So glad I lived through that experience. You really can’t explain it to anyone -- you had to be there and live it.
TOTAL chaos.....
They went to Kansas City the next day instead of taking a day off on September 17th, 1964
Good on ya, Eric
Far out. Paul Mccartney and Wings were there in 75
60 years ago today here on September 16, 2024.
And they never. Came. _BACK!_ 😕

Like to read this book.
Did David Ferrie and Clay Shaw attend?
