I remember watching this brilliant documentary with Jools when it was first broadcast in 1987 on Channel 4 when i was 14 years old with my now late dear Dad. I thought then (and still think now) it's brilliant. I don't think it has ever been rebroadcast (i could be wrong) but it's never been released on Dvd/Bluray which is huge shame. My Dad who watched it with me was only really interested in seeing Lee Dorsey and more importantly for my Dad, one of his idol's from the 1950s the great, late Fats Domino. My Dad still loved Fats music right up until he passed away in January 2021 of the Covid virus. P.S. Thankyou "WornFender" for uploading this.
I worked on this music documentary for The Tube in about 1986 I later went on to form a company with Geoff Wonfor the director , it was great fun and some great artists
Just brilliant; I love Robbie Coltrain-I used to keep replaying that piece & Johnny Allen Promised land; now 30 years on my 2 teenage sons love it & we had to recreate the tunnel scene last year walking to Greenwich! Fats Domino and Jools H together is legendary for posting. P
I saw this in Norway decades ago and always looked for it once I got back home. It never showed up. Every 5 years or so I would search again never to find it. And now! Here it is!. Thank you.
I last since this more than 20 years ago but I always remember Jools' joy at playing the piano with Fats - at the end when Fats calls him "baby" he looks as though he is going to burst with pleasure. There's also some great footage at the beginning of the long-since demolished Lovell's Wharf in Greenwich. Thank you for putting it up.
R.I.P. Robbie Coltraine. I've tried to post this great film, and it's partner piece, many time but always taken down by the copyright spider - very sad because they are both classics.
This was the first thing I ever taped with my first ever video recorder. I've still got it. Does anyone know the name of the Allen Toussaint song about Professor Longhair near the end? Jools did another documentary shortly after this I remember about reggae, set in Jamaica. It was very good but not as good as this one
I have just found this on an old tape and was going to put it on, mine was 1992 cos all the euro football stuff is in the adverts. Is it complete? he also did a follow up in Memphis if it's not on I'll upload it.
A lot of things that are a cut above and treasured by dedicated fans don't come out commercially very often. in this case, it's like an indicator of how good it is.
Thank god I’ve found this gem on RUclips! I thought I’d never see it again!! Thankyou!!!

Hi, any idea if there is a link showing the Lost chord? Similar vain to Walking to New Orleans?
I haven't seen this in years, and only thought to look for it now after watching a clip of Fats Domino. Thanks so much for the upload.

BTW Gordon's Voice is perfectly suited for the tunnel environment? Oh yes!
