  • Nick and I (Matt) head back down to Lawrence Kansas on this night in early June 2023 for some early summer catfishing. As we started the night off, we spotted gar swimming openly in the water and that was the only fish biting our live and cut baits this night until about 2 a.m.
    Nick had left and at right before 2 a.m. this big flathead catfish smashed my rod and I had to try and film and bring it in... (Which didn't work so well.) The camera tripod fell to the ground and captured just me reeling in the massive fish!!
    This was a fun catch and we appreciate the support from our fishing community here in Kansas City!! We hope you are all having a great year fishing and thanks for watching and also interacting with us out there!!

      I will try to stay as safe as possible. I wouldn't suggest learning as you go on the fly like I did sometimes on the river, but it really does teach you what to do and not do 😂.. Even though the best teacher is time on the river, stay safe as well. I appreciate you commenting and watching man!!

    What’s the best place for parking to fish this dam? Thanks

    • @CatfishKC
      @CatfishKC  4 месяца назад +1

      If you're going for this side of the dam, I park next to the hotel in the back, you can look at Google maps and look at the parking lot just past the railroad tracks.
      I'm not sure if it's considered a legal place to park but, I've never had any problems and never seen any signs saying not to park there. There are the whole bunch of homeless people that are right there which are cool people, but just letting you know that you might see some things but, I never had my vehicle messed with while I've had it parked there.
      you can then take a trail down to a gravel path that will get you to the dam or you can walk down the boardwalk next to the hotel and there are ways to get down to this spot through a couple openings there as well

    Anyone knows if the walnut river produces good size fish? By el dorado to be more exact.

      I've heard of it but, I'm not 100% sure how the fishing is.

      Right now we decide where we go kinda on the fly. This was Sunday night/early Monday morning. Hopefully we can start planning better and more consistent

    How do you avoid the rock snags on the bottom?! Every cast was a snag for us

    • @CatfishKC
      @CatfishKC  Год назад +1

      Bowersock Dam has claimed many snag victims over the years 😂... What I started doing was when I reel in, I just barely get the line tight and then I lift up and reel in as fast as I can. I barely get snags anymore...

    what rods are those you guys got

    • @CatfishKC
      @CatfishKC  Год назад +1

      The red ones are Tangling With Catfish rods monster edition. And the white pole I believe is just a Bass Pro Combo that was fairly cheap. You always gotta have a cheap rod in the water next to the expensive ones bc you always get bites on the cheap pole 😂
