Netherlands really wants to win Eurovision song contest this year
Belgium loves Joost Klein ❤ and Dj Paul Elstak. It’s a real flashback to the 90’s a brilliant mix of Eurodance and Happy Hardcore or like the Dutch say Gabber house. Joost did lost both of his parents at young age. Love the tribute Joost , thank you Joost. His music unit people and me and my oldest daughter enjoy his music and lyrics so much that we go together to see Joost and listen to his art . Thank you Joost deeply all respect to you. Belgium loves you very much because you are so pure. Big 12 points from us to you my friend.
The song is a letter to his parents who died when Joost was still young. His father told him that since humans invented the borders, he could invent the world, his own world. And so he did! The end with the burning picture and house means that it's time to stop grieving about his parents and step into a new phase in his life.
The Netherlands is a powerhouse country of Eurovision Song Contest
Little bit of background on Joost. He was creative from a very young age and also a bit different. His father (papa) said that there are no boundaries and he should follow his dreams. They always watched the Eurovision (Euro) Songfestival together so as a kid he replied that his dream would be to go to the Eurovision Songfestival. Then his dad passed away when he was 12 and his mother when he was 13. For inspiration and acceptance of the loss of his parents he travelled trough Europe. Therefore he sings that the pain and emptiness stayed with him no matter where he went. He paid for mental help but it did not work for him. Still he managed to be a very positive and joyful person as reflected in this song. He sings about the song Papaoutai from Stromae that is also about missing his father. In all of this he managed to combine lot's of cultural aspects of different European countries and the Netherlands. There is even a reference to Max Verstappen. Without the layer of his personal life you will notice that a lot of elements can directly be related to the European countries. The young boy and the old man training with weights represent him and his father struggling trough life and his father being an example for him. The windmill is near where he spend his youth so also a trip trough memory lane to him. The final emotional scene represents him as a kid and his father when it all ended, the burning of the family photo and the building represents that you need to move on in life and not be stuck in the past. In the end he tells that he listened to his father (there are no borders for your dreams) and refers to him going to the Eurovision Songfestival. So winning would be optional, his goal was participation. And "Europapa" is short for Eurovision Song contest and papa (dad). There are layers all trough the song and the video clip.

The song is an ode to Joost's father. In the song Joost tells the listener that there are no limits if you want to make your dreams come true and tell your story. He also says this about it.
Europapa is about an orphan who travels across Europe (and beyond) to find himself and tell his story. At first people don't recognize him, but he takes every chance he gets to show himself. Europapa is a tribute to my father. When he raised me, he passed on to me an expansive view of the world.
He also wants to say something about his act.

Thanks for taking this emotional rollercoaster. Recap You can travel freely in a Europe w/o borders but the pain of the loss of loved ones travels with you. Follow your dreams and make the ones you love proud. Carry the memories with you but also their lessons. Joost is no joke he is a survivor right through the pain to party on the eurovision stage.
Very Dutch and very awesome. For the first time in a lifetime, I'm proud of our entry. Maybe Duncan Laurent won and i was happy, but his song wasn't really Dutch. This is. If this gets past the jury, it has a chance to win, because the public loves it.

The EU-house burning is the best summary of this song. Probably not intended but very revealing!
Its not an eu house. It represents his childhood. Burning the past and the pain. Moving Forward to a better future
Like the artist said once it’s in the open everyone can see what he wants. But I think you missed the main point of the song.
The video is a work of art. You see what you see but i'm with the people that say it's more reflective of his youth as throughout you see his younger self and dad in the house.
