- I think Starflight can have some angst,,,as a treat
I came up with this 'cause I had Rät stuck in my head and started thinking of characters who fit the song, and wow does Starflight fit well. I based the NightWings' design off Elon Musk's robot things heh. The most prominent NightWing is Morrowseer (I hope that was clear :']). Their robotic disguise represents their pretense of prophecy and mindreading, specifically the star and teardrop "hologram" markings. Um idk feel free to ask questions :]

I really love how Starflight has that little teardrop at the corner of his eyes that show that he could have had the 3-way power thing if only he hadn’t hatched underground.
I think those symbolize how he thinks he’s supposed to have those powers but doesn’t, but it turns out all the other NightWings (except Fatespeaker of course) also don’t have the powers in the moments when they are not wearing proto masks.
Wait Fatespeaker has powers? I thought it was Moon

Fatespeaker has the teardrop scales, but they're not as big as Moon's, so she has a watered down version of mind-reading where she can only sense vague emotions from others. Not sure about this but she may have an incredibly weak/faulty foresight.

This is a true masterpiece that the whole fandom needs to see. Starflight is one of the most well-written character in the WOF franchise and so many fans seem to forget how much hell he went through during the events of Arc 1.
0:11 He admires his tribe’s known greatness so much and wants to meet them 0:14 but is ashamed in himself for about not having powers.
0:17 Right at the start of the story, he is expected by his tribe to turn against his own friends. 0:25 And when he refuses to support their plan, he gets kidnapped and taken to their secret base while his friends assume he abandoned them… and the more he finds out about the NightWings, the tribe he once admired and a awaited to meet so much, the more he hates being one of them. 0:29 Witnessing them burn down a SkyWing watchtower after he JUST promised to save them, and finding out that they torture and plan to genocide the RainWings makes him feel sick. 0:32 And he has to experience this whole traumatic nightmare all alone away from those who care about him.
0:43 Starflight never wanted to be a hero. 0:47 He would’ve happily lived a life in peace with his scrolls and those he loved. That’s what makes it so spectacular that he courageously goes out of his way to save the day like the true hero he is, 1:00 preventing two entire tribes from tearing each other apart and saving them both from destruction.
But in the end, incredibly, 1:14 he got the happy ending he always wanted. No more adventure. No more danger. Just a nice happy life playing a role in shaping the future of Pyrrhia as his dream job of being a librarian.
This video conveys ALL of these points about Starflight perfectly and I am so blown away by how incredible it demonstrated his character. And that’s not even accounting for how flipping amazing the animation is! And the choice of colors and song is phenomenal! I have waited such a long time for a proper Starflight PMV that expressed his character so well, and just when I believed it would never happen, this animator brought it from the stars themselves. Thank you so much for creating this work of art :)

I like how Starflight’s star and teardrop scales are dark, while Fatespeaker’s are lit up, showing her partial powers, while the other nightwings needed to be robotic looking to have them glowing, since they were lying. I wonder if Moon would be even brighter! (absolutely gorgeous art btw)

I loved the computer symbolism in here !!! The kind of protogen-looking designs for the other NightWings really fits Starflight’s adoration and view of the other NightWings as these sort of mystical/superhuman beings, and I loved how that all glitched out at the end when he realizes at last that they aren’t as powerful or majestic as he thought they’d be.
All in all, amazing work. I got literal chills watching

Yes, Starflight is my favorite character he's super relatable to me! Minus the hating a group he once looked up to, everything else is super relatable. I would totally love to just chill out with my friends and books and be free and safe and not doing anything dangerous. I sometimes need to learn to be brave when I'm usually not and ontop of that I'm an introverted history/science nerd

I interpreted this as the nightwings being like cold unfeeling machines up until the moment they become humanized in their fear and desperation because fear is something everyone universally has felt and therefore connects us.
The Dark Secret is the most underrated book of Wings of Fire. It had the biggest drop I could imagine: The prophecy was fake. Countless dragons believing, hoping for it, and it was all stage set for the back to get their real play going. It had Starflight, an also extremely underrated character, finally seen into his eyes. The eyes of a wonderer, someone who wanted to figure out things from a safe point. So many interesting leaks of the daily life of a NightWing.
It's true, I like its atmosphere and it dramatically opened my eyes to the fact that my beloved Nightwings are not so powerful...
Love how the scroll says "Tales of the NightWings - Hey you little piss baby you think you're so cool huh?"
I love how the nightwings are potrayed as 'robots' as they are so sucked into thinking they are so much better than the other tribes wile also having the intelligence, like what mastermind had done.
The fact that they flicker at the end kinda shows how their confidence was broken as well as their secret.
There are so many easter eggs in this its amazing.

Honestly trust the WoF fandom to consistently make me appreciate character’s who’s POV I never really cared for, because this does an incredible job at highlighting Starflight’s arc. The art direction and overall quality is so nice too, just a really well made video all around, awesome work. The ending scene is a wonderful touch too. The Nightwings aren’t the wisened and helpful tribe he hoped they’d be, so Starflight takes it into his hands to be that kind of dragon in his own way.
This is exactly why I think Starflight is the best character in Arc 1

I love the depiction of Fatespeaker having the glowing markings, symbolizing that she actually has the powers. Very subtle, but excellent
I am shaking and screaming and so so excited that someone _finally_ acknowledged Starflight and everything he went through. His character is such an interesting take on the dangers of idealism and the need to be the person you’re expected to be rather than who you are. His adoration for his tribe as well as his frustration that he isn’t living up to their expectations is captured so well here; and yeah these lyrics fit so, so well?? I love so much how the Nightwings look so different from everyone else, Starflight included. It gives that feeling that they’re untouchable, and that maybe there’s something wrong with him that he isn’t that way. Until of course he meets Fatespeaker, another Nightwing who can’t quite fit in with their tribe but loves them, just like he does. And then the Nightwings glitching at the end when the illusion is shattered and Starflight learns there really isn’t anything special about the Nightwings. Everything he spent his whole life believing in, working towards, was never real to begin with. And it almost cost him his life
The fact no one is talking about the Tales of the Nightwings scroll-
But God, this video is SO insanely freaking creative?? I can’t believe I never realized how much one of my favorite songs connects to my all-time comfort character, I’m almost mad at myself because it fits so well. I adore the way you designed the Nightwings, not to mention the DOD and Starflight himself. And the magenta on Fatespeaker is really pretty! The fact the lava is binary and the way it changes as the volcano explodes is really interesting and a super cool effect. I also particularly love the ending, just showing a bit of Starflight’s scars, and showing him getting closure on the way his tribe lied by making sure everyone else would know the truth. I can’t lie, I wish the second arc hadn’t been all “Oh yeah, so they do have powers after all, actually.”. As much as I love the Nightwings, especially from their pre-Darkstalker culture, it really decreased the oomph in finding out the Nightwings had been lying to know that it all would’ve been true if not for some smoke blocking out the moonlight :\

Just realized that after he spent his whole life looking up to his tribe because of the lies in their scrolls, like their guide to the dragons of Pyrrhia, he gets to write the new version without any lies. that is so cool
I love the holographic symbolism, and the fact that FateSpeaker has a half teardrop scale, under the hologram, due to her false basically "malfunctioned" powers and actual empath powers, it fits in line with her character well. As it makes alot of sense for her to have half or "malfunctioned" holograms and be the only one aside from Starflight to not be under the facade. As the other Nightwings saw her as delusional and stange, meaning that would've cracked the "perfect" facade straight away. It's a nice PMV and I like the AMV aspects.

The Nightwings and their islands being pixilated is such a cool style, and the volcano scene made me rewatch it 40 times.

Everything about this is so well done!! I especially love how starflight has blacked out teardrop scales eluding to how he could’ve had the power of a mind reader but doesn’t, WAIT AND THE BLACKED OUT STAR ON HIS FOREHEAD ALSO ALLUDING TO FUTURE SIGHT AND REFERENCING HIS NAME THAT IS SO COOL

This is absolutely gorgeous! The designs for the nightwings are really unique, I don’t think I’ve ever seen nightwings being portrayed as “robotic” before. Along with that, the pacing, and bits of frame by frame animation in there make it even better. I love it! :]

Okay, the part that single-handedly shows just how well-made this is, is when (especially in 0:51 and 0:53) you can see the faint lines that show that the masks of the NightWings have slightly sharp angles.

The NightWings were supposedly a tribe of honor and regality, but they were actually just angry, slimy conquerors. I LOVE HOW YOU CAPTURE THIS IN THIS WAY??? It's one thing to have an AMV that perfectly embodies the lousy morals of the NightWings, it's another ENTIRELY to find an AMV that does so, while also following an in-depth character arc of one of the first characters in the series!!!! OBSESSED WITH THIS!! SO INSPIRED!!

I love how most of the older nightwing politicians like morrowseer and mastermind have a computer generated face, with the mind reader or prophecy power designs on them. Which expresses how the nightwings are faking their powers, and when the volcano explodes and all the nightwings evacuate, the masks dissapear, and their secrets are exposed. And the younger nightwings that don't know about these secrets don't have a mask on

I love this, not because I just love wings of fire, because the care, and effort and designs out into this makes it feel truly..alive.
The designs for the nightwings, the lava, and everything else. This is beautiful.
One of my favorite parts of this AMV is the black star and teardrops on Starflight’s face that symbolize his lack of powers. The more I think about it, the more powerful it is as a representation of his transition from thinking he is wrong to realizing he was wronged.
Starflight is obviously insecure in the beginning, because NightWings are supposed to have these awesome powers of foresight and mindreading, but he can’t do either. When he looks at other NightWings, who do have that power, he grows even more ashamed of himself. The black star and teardrops represent that flaw of his; that emptiness where talent and power should be. They represent his failure as a NightWing.
Only it’s not a flaw. It’s not emptiness. It’s not failure. The other NightWings have only been putting up a screen (cleverly shown in this video as them being protogen-esque creatures, their faces literally being screens that project whatever they want others to see). Behind that screen, behind that mask of false greatness, lies nothing. Not even black stars or black teardrops. Just nothing. They were never as powerful as they portended to be; as they made Starflight feel he had to be. It was all a sham.
All of a sudden the black star and black teardrops aren’t symbols of Starflight’s wrongness or emptiness. If anything, based on what we later learn of how these powers are acquired, his dark star and teardrops are actually marks of what was STOLEN from him, since he hatched under three moons - which should have given him the strongest of both powers - but did so underground, denying him everything the moons could have given him. So all along, not only was he made to feel small and ashamed for a power no one else had, but also it was a power that he SHOULD have had that they TOOK from him.
All at once, the black star and teardrops went from a mark of his failure to a mark of his victimhood at the talons of those hypocrites who called him so. Goodness gracious that is powerful. Everything about this AMV is hard hitting, but I seriously can’t get over that detail.

DUDE you’re making wof fans dreams come true with these sick animations. I appreciate people giving the first arc attention so much personally. I LOVE this song for the wof universe and I made an entire character based on it. Seeing it applied to starflight makes SOOOO much sense and makes me jealous I didn’t connect the dots first! The designs you made for not only the nightwings (which are feel are SOOOOOO INSPIRED i absolutely love the imagery of the nightwings as holographic projections or something similar? I’d love to know your thought process!) but the LOCATION design too! The binary lava, as if their “simulation” of a secret base of operations falling apart, the pixelated static on the characters’ stars and wings, the way the characters switch between as the illusion falls apart. And don’t even get me started on the AMAZING lip sync on top of it with amazing expressions. Erm. All that to say. I’m eating this video thank u. NONMNO,nomnomnomnomnom
SCREAMING AND CRYING AND EXPLODING THIS IS INCREDIBLE????? The art and animation is incredible already, but combined with your creative adaptation of Starflight’s arc with the technological aesthetic with the robotic NightWings and the volcano’s lava being ones and zeroes, absolutely PHENOMENAL. I get chills every time I see the part where the RainWings mark is taken off the map and Blister takes her seat, and when Fatespeaker appears and smiles, and when the escaping NightWings are all reverting back into their dragon selves because their false identity is finally shattering. AND THE “TAKE ME TO THE MOON” PART WHERE STARDFLIGHT FLIES. BEAUTIFUL. Oh my god this is just perfect in every way.

Everything about this is absolutely AMAZING! I love the way you made the art fit with the songs theme by making the nightwings designs robotic. The animation is so smooth and expressive, Starflight flying up to the moons and them disappearing behind him was not only beautifully animated but also showed him losing faith in the nightwings and their powers. This song fits so well with Starflight. He’s such an underrated character and I’m glad someone made a pmv about him.
YOU'RE SO UNDERRATED IT'S KILLING ME. everything about this is perfect, the designs, the animation, your style is just SOOO GOOD. And the song choice??? I never realised how fitting it was for Starflight but now I definitely see it. God this is amazing, I absolutely love this.
This all works too well, and it's all so brilliant. I love every aspect about this. And for once, I've analyzed a video to just sink it in. When it cuts from the starving NightWings to them being robotic, it just. Works. They see themselves as so superior and they have to hide the many imperfections they have, representing the whole robot part. Because how could you tell their imperfect if they see no flaws. But even yet they are a flawed tribe and this shows it, it does. StarFlight wanting to be like the NightWings fits with this song as his dreams are crushed by realizing both he could never be one, and how they are flawed. StarFlight is one of the only NightWings shown to be organic, showing he knows he's flawed and hasn't gotten into the grasp of being a snobby NightWing. FateSpeaker having the hologram is just brilliant! This whole thing, gah I fell in love with this!
I have found an awesome little detail, all of the hologram nightwings have the star on their foreheads (indicating future sight) and the teardrop by their eye (mind reading). Now Starflight and Fatespeaker both have the same markings but Fatespeaker’s glow because she actually has a weakened version of the powers and Starflight’s are dim since he does not. Now what really nails this home is in the flickering scene between the true nightwings and their holograms you’ll notice their true form completely lacks the markings, something that I think is really dang neat

Starflight's relationship with the nightwings is so interesting and under explored in fandom, especially when you compare his story with Glory's and how they're two sides of the same coin and yet only one gets any attention (though tbf Glory is the only arc 1 character that get consistent attention nowadays).
Also thanks so much on your night-wing-powers focused map that you made a sign for future sight. I love how these symbols are constantly on on the other nightwings when their facade is up, but on starflight they’re not missing, they’re just faded.

this is one of my favourites ever!! i love the fake silver teardrop and I adore starflights story ,, he is underrated! and rät is such a good choice like I will forever think of starflight when I hear this song now thank you.
oh god, this is my favorite thing ever. im not even that huge a fan of wings of fire, but i really haven't seen a pmv with such fitting lyrics, visuals, and symbolism in a while. here are some moments that gave me chills (and it's nearly the whole pmv, by the way):
- starflight getting kidnapped at *just* the right lyrics
- the quick instances we get of his captors being awful right in front of him
- starflight being happy and cheerful and it's always followed and preceded by his hope being shattered
- when he lip syncs!! they're so smooth and full and cool!! you put so much expression in all of them, which is super hard to do!!
- the whole theme of code. morrowseer tried so hard to convince starflight that all nightwings were these calculated evil things because he was the only example there and he's Like That. the binary code eruption shook me so hard, it's so poisonous and robotic.
- and then that part where the feeling starwings flicker from robots to dragons...that was such a smart design choice. they are a suffering clan of dragons who were trapped in there for far too long and something in starflight has to see the humanity (or dragonity?) in them
of course, the frame-by-frame and timing was masterful. man, i never really felt attached to any dragonet, but this pmv might have just made starflight my favorite.

I love the small detail of Starflight’s teardrop markings being black while others are a lighter color showing he has none of the powers, really adore that detail, and the song Rät honestly fits him
I ABSOLUTLY LOVE THIS. It's amazing especially the part when they're all running from the volcano and suddendly instead of this god like dragons they're like everyone else, not more powerful and better. This whole video is truly stunning omg, I never knew there was a whole fandom for Wings of fire

Damn, I’ve watched this dozens of times over the last 4 months, it’s so good! Each time I watch it I pick up on little small details I missed. It’s videos like this that make me wish I could like videos more then once. The frame by frame animation was so smooth and the lipsink was absolutely great! The whole video is gorgeous and I can’t wait to see what else you do in the future! ❤

This is so so good I love everything you did with the lyrics! Every single lyric is used and made meaningful. I think my favorite use starts at see the stars-see them alone. Where marowseer takes starflight. Then the absolute perfection of the ‘stars turning into one more peice of land,’ as morrowseer stomps the green star under his foot, literally the star turning to land yet at the same time establishing how worthless the rainwings and the other tribes are as a whole to morrowseer. That got me. That’s so good. And also “for us to turn to sand. Just perfect just perfect!
