      Hi Jim🖐The nail gun has been excellent, and my only gripe with it, is I wanted it to sink the nails in a bit further🤔. In my opinion, the nose piece is too long, so I cut it in half with a 4mm cutting disc in my grinder, welded it back together, and now the nails sink nicely below the surface and there is still plenty of adjustment if I want the nails to be set put a bit👍I have also just bought the Hilti version of this guns nose tip, as it looked much shorter in pictures, and have fitted that as it looks more pro and is more than just a pressed steel tip like the Fisher one. Hi Ed🖐The trusses were originally to be sat on built in hangers, but that just didn't suit the building program, so long leg joist hangers were used instead. There was a satisfactory number of nails through the hanger into the beam to support the roof, but I decided to put a few extra into the blockwork for good measure and to keep them looking tidy. Tidy job Del, you must be satisfied to have it wrapped up.
    I imagine the roofers will have to rake out the mortar joints for the stepped flashing when tiling?
    Not your dept Del, but do you know how effective that method is with stepped cavity trays and weep hole, not sure either has been installed by the looks of it

    • @thetallcarpenter
      @thetallcarpenter  Год назад

      Hi TT🖐 I wasn't asked to provide a mock up rafter for the brickies as they were building the wall that the roof butted to so they could build in any stepped trays that were required, so I can't comment on what's on there🤔 My personal opinion on water penetrating sound, 4" face brickwork is that it doesn't, and I've never seen any evidence on any job I've worked on of so much water entering the cavity through the brickwork for it to run out of the weep holes, but that's not to say it can't happen, and can be easily rectified with waterproof coatings👍

      Hi there🖐 No, I'm not with the brickies when they level the plates on but they know I'll give them grief if they are not level and flat😵 I do check the plate for square and straight though, and pin it to the blockwork with a few nails to keep it in place👊Thanks for watching and your comment 😎 Cheers Del

      @@thetallcarpenter ok mate. I know other chippies that insist on being there but obviously the guys you know, know what you expect. I live in London and some of the idiots here would make you cringe. I just had to do one where it was 50mm out of parallel over 1.7m, small roof I know but the one coming into it I had to plane the rafters at an angle just to get it to meet up. It's hard to explain fully, I'm still in a head spin thinking about it. I was glad when the roofers went in just to cover it up. Not my work, I had to take it over from someone else who jacked up.
