Just for fun.. I was in class 8 when city centre pillars of east west metro was already constructed.. When the salt lake stretch was opened i was 28 years old.. And even now the line is still incomplete 😂😂

IT Sector station progress is way too slow compared to Nicco Park station which later but made great progress. RVNL should start laying viaduct from Chingrighata station to Beleghata station as they're literally wasting time on the completion of portal piers.
It will be the busiest line in my opinion.

One of the main things is chingrighata.. Chingrighata had no progress in Last 4 years..
Can someone tell me why some bridges or some parts of bridges have metal structure designs like the one at 11:58? What is the purpose of them and why do they have different designs at various places?
Places where span length (distance between two piers) is more, they build metal trusses or steel girders for better strength. Also depends on the location
I think the location is not suitable for the use of launching gantry to connect the concrete box girders. Thats why they are going for steel girders.

মেট্রো কর্মী দিয়ে চলবে না, আস্তে আস্তে মেট্রো self driving হয়ে যাবে যত দিন যাবে। তখন দিনে ২৪ ঘন্টাও চলবে কোনো ড্রাইভার ছাড়াই।

MRB is more informative as it once was, the best metro blog by far. No information, no voice over even. Is there an interest to sustain the channel or is it dying a slow death as the old city itself. Metro rail is one project which had kept the lifeline active and MRB was the bright spot highlighting it. Sad to see it running out of stream :(
For easy understanding, mention, where are you starting from, in which direction are you moving, and each station names.

It will take at least 5 to 6 years for the entire route to open going by the rate of progress of work.
I think they should target to open till Sector 5 next year.

Recently kolkata metro posted 90 percent of the civil works complted from sec 5 to IT centre. Can anyone explain what 90 percent construction completed. Technopolis statiin construction did not get started, carshed contsruction not started, jatragachi is in progress, connection of nabadiganta to new town still pending. Looks like 50 percent job done and then doing so many hypes by metro railway 😂

There has been no update, it's lying in the same condition for years
I have been seeing this city for more than 35 years and this city is still under construction. Construction works will never be ended in this city. Metro construction still in progress and this thing will be continued till next 50 more years and still if you alive at that time then also you will witness this city is still under construction. Nothing good will happen with this city the former capital of India because of Mamata Banerjee and her so called notorious political party. Dont know when Bengalis will understand her drawbacks and cons. She did nothing good for this city and the state of West Bengal. Still Bengalis cast their votes to that old lady in every election. She wins every time surprisingly. Bengalis are blind despite they have eyes.
It will take atleast another 1 and half years till sec v. and then another 1 year atleast till Airport. So full run not expected before 2026 end.
Before New Town Depot is made Sector V to Airport, there won't be commercial services. At least 5 years to New Town Depot construction completion.

মমিনপুর মেট্রো স্টেশনের প্রায় কমপ্লিট এর পথে, মানে পার্পেল লাইনেও জোর কদমে কাজ চলছে, ওখানকার ভিডিও ব্লগ তুমি কবে আনবে? যদিও এখন তোমার মত মেট্রো আপডেট দেয়া অনেক ইউটিউবার গজিয়ে গেছে, তারাও মেট্রো কনস্ট্রাকশন আপডেট দিচ্ছে, সেই জন্যই কি তুমি কম ভিডিও দাও?

Also the names of these stations of Orange line must be changed, you cannot keep the names of personalities ike such to demarcate a station, unrealistically. It looks and sound very unrealistic, we Kolkatans may know, also majority doesn't know, so it may create a huge problem for us and any person coming from outside Kolkata and travelling by this metro. Just for meeting someone's unrealistic political ambitions, one cannot name metro stations solely by the name of great personalities, yes I agree it can be form of tribute, but there must be some sensibility atleast, from the end of the metro railway authorities.

The kolkata metro is under Indian Railways, who are overburdened with so many other projects and hence they cannot put enough funds towards our metro. This is why construction is dead slow. So, bringing in the NDA will NOT change anything. This metro is NOT under the state government.
