something inside the pump caused excessive vibrations and created all of those issues. it has nothing to do with the engine but whoever installed the engine on the machine.
Hi Ricky, thanks for sharing this. Can I ask what would you recommend instead. I'm looking to upgrade from a gx390. Want a larger machine. Was looking at these but now after watching your video im in 2 minds. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Nathan
@Bournemouthjetwashing have also been looking at the honda 690 the yanks seem to love them. Going to do some research on the yanmars thanks mate really appreciate it. 👍
The reason those threads have shit themselves, is due to the damage on the shaft. Its thrown the harmonics completely out, since they are the closest bolts to the shaft, you'll find that you will either have to replace the shaft, or scrap it for parts. I had the same thing happen to a Honda 390, donkeys years ago, except it was the exhaust that fell off. Tried the heli coils, drilled the holes bigger, etc. The work was done by the Honda dealer, with decades of experience. When I finally gave up on it, pulled the pump off, & the shaft was the same as yours. Popped down to the shop, & he took 1 look, Said, "There's the cause of it all". Then he explained about the harmonics. It just throws everything out of wack, when it gets damages to that extent. I had a 23 HP, [still have, actually] belt driven, 6,600 hrs. Would not run smoothly in cold air! back fire, miss, pop, bang. Sounded like a gun club having an open day. Above 30 deg C, it ran better. [I'm in Western Australia]But not perfect, Brought another one. Did about 14 hrs with it. Same thing. Took it back & got a Honda GX630, running 30lpm @ 3000. Sweet as a nut. Thing is, the American's swear by them, & rubbish Honda's. Go figure.
I brought two of these efi engines on ebay for a low price of 700 each as they where new but from a private seller that was going to use them in go carts, but dint in the end, i did have another briggs engine that broke and that went back for a replacement but took nearly 4 months, cant be bothered to go through all that hassle again
Does the RS500 leak through a gasket mine loves to throw all its oil out through the breather in the dipstick. have you had this engine problem before, for the engine casing to crack like that it could be a vibration problem caused by miss alignment. Please keep us all posted on what you find and your remedies. it might be worth contacting Briggs if its within the 3 year warranty.
Been though all that hassle of warrenty before took me nearly 4 months to sort out and a replacement , not going though all that hassle again. You can get a upgraded dipstick for the rs gear box , think rutland pumps sell them
Thanks for the heads up on the dipstick I will get one, the keyway on the crankshaft I would call that damage not wear the square woodruff key they can get a bit of wear but I've never seen a shaft go like that before I really don't think its your engine that's caused this. I quite fancy a 3 cylinder Kubota diesel engine next I see Damien from Q services has built one
I've literally just ordered one. I have heard nothing about them really.. Can you shed any light on whether these are reliable? I really would love to veer towards diesel for economy purposes at least..
@@Bournemouthjetwashing Have to be honest, we run 4 different 420 Loncin engines powering RS500 and WS202's and we've NEVER had a real problem in 9 years, plus they're cheap so we've always got one on the shelf and can swap them out when it's time for a service. I thought they'd be poor back in the day, but I cannot fault them

I had the same issue on my Honda GX690
lots of vibration going on but is all mounted on rubber vibration mounts etc
for external vibrations nothing to do with internal failure

Ricky is there a reason you don’t use a Honda engine if briggs are bad? I always thought vanguard were great engines. You’ve cleared that up 😂😂
Honda are not as powerful as the briggs, but im going to buy a diesel engine now
We're has mr Banjo gone. Not seen any jetwashing videos for a while
Still about but don't do as many videos these days as the youtube money has really gone down filming and editing is not really worth it these days
They do have a 3 year commercial warranty Rick, send it back for a replacement

How long have you had it for? And seconding someone elses question, why not use a honda?
Beeen using this engine for the past year, havent had honda as i dont think they are as powerful as the briggs
Lots of fixing to do eh buddy sorry this motors are not what they used to be
Indeed Chester finding that with a lots of things, they just dont last
