this is the only tutorial that has made the composite side of Hitfilm Express easy enough to understand ... I have just used the same functions to make a couple of titles for a video I'm currently editing... thanks for this.

The one thing I really don't like in HitFilm is the stroking of text. The stroke only happens inside the character, instead of inside and outside or just outside. Every time I want to make text with a stroke I have to make it in Photoshop, save it as a PNG and load that in.
Question: I have footage of a man firing a gun, but you can't see the blast. I also have a blast .png. If I want to add the blast so it travels off the screen from his gun, How do I do that with key frames? I've been stuck on this problem for months. I get it so it travels off the screen, but I can't figure out how to add a second keyframe. HELP PLEASE.
HitFilm is awesome! Off topic but I have a question for HitFilm's programmers. Posted it on the HitFilm subreddit. I think it's possible to write a script to convert a .srt subtitle file to a composite shot.
How to lengthen that animation from 5 sec to for example 20 sec? I am try to edit it but it does not work for me. The text block is longer but text disappear after 5 sec.
Why do you need it, if you don't mind me asking? Of course it isn't a lot of work for them to do, but it's certainly not a splitting issue. But yes. I see your point.

Hi Oli, I have tried to type my Arabic text in Ms Word and then paste it into My Text layer ...it shows me only Arabic characters but not the words or the sentence I typed in MS word and I have tried to change the font under Text--->Character but still not successful...thanks for your prompt reply ...please if you find a way let me know..much appreciated
FYI When you import the title image you may find the image needs to be 32 bit depth. ... Was scratching my head on a 24 bit image which just became a gold rectangle
Very well done video! Question though: Is there a way to save composite Titles, Clips or ? to use in a different project. In Premier you can name them and save them for future use. Here you name them how about saving them for the future?
Yes, right-click your composite shot in the Media panel (it will appear in there after it has been created) and select Save As... This will save a copy of the composite shot which can then be imported into future projects :) - Oli (HitFilm Staff)

Hi Salina, HitFilm Pro does come with all the features. If you're unable to select a Bold version of the font it may not be installed on your computer. Make sure you have all versions of the font installed and try again. You are correct, if you want to use Quicktime movies, you need to install Quicktime. Or, if you don't want to install Quicktime, you can convert the videos to another format that you prefer.

Hey, this is definitely possible. If I'm understanding correctly you'll need to track the object you're hoping to add the glow to, using the HitFilm tracking system. How do you add text really fast after another? Let's say, I wanted to add a word everytime i said something in a sentence. Like if i were reading the title of the video I was making and everytime I said a word, I wanted it to pop up on screen? With hitfilm it makes it really confusing and hard to do, please help.
Within a composite shot create a text box for the first word. Set the layer length to how long you want that word to be visible. Once that layer has played create a new text layer, select the text tool and layer and type the new word. Set the timings again and repeat the process. why everytime i do a composite shot it doesn't take the full frame view (for example 1080p) and it create a smaller windows, when I cannot see how the shot look like in final result? I mean: import a text made in .png, make a composite shot but it's not 1080p as my timeling, it's smaller like the text, so I cannot do the right things.
When you right-click the media and select 'Make Composite Shot' a panel appears allowing you to adjust the canvas size (video dimensions) in the composite shot, there is even a button to 'Match Timeline' to automatically set the Composite Shot to the same dimensions as the Editor timeline :) - Oli (HitFilm Staff)
When I adjust the scale on the first frame, then move to one further on down the line, I click on the "Scale" radial button, but instead of activating it for that frame, it removes the old one. Something I'm missing here? Super new to video editing software.

btw i had an issue related to fomats, hitfilm couldnt read properly an avi video but i searched in forums and found that converting .avi to .mov solved the problem

Hi Oli. I created the composite shot first and set the duration, then imported a still picture into the shot-thinking it will stay on screen as long as the duration that I set.
You can convert any layer to 3D, including text layers, by clicking the Dimension icon next to the layer on the timeline, and changing it from 2d to 3D Plane. If you want to create Extruded 3D text, you can do that too, if you purchase the Starter Pack add-on for HitFilm, from our store: hitfilm.com/store/hitfilm-4-express#details-effects-starter

You'll likely need to drag the Title composite shot from the Media panel into the Editor timeline, where the edit is assembled.

Text boxes do not have a Fill color. You can create a new Plane and mask it out behind the text layer.

Don't click the Scale button again to add a keyframe. Just adjust the number and it will automatically create a keyframe.

Wildicon19 whenever you save a project you choose in which folder it will be saved. so just locate your old ones and delete them

Each composite shot appears as a new piece of media in your Media panel and can be dragged from there into your timeline.
