There are accounts from the Rodney’s crew that they feared they too could’ve suffered the same fate as the Hood if the Bismarck had hit them with a few well aimed shots.
It’s hard to say who would win here if this actually happened IRL. The Germans BB’s were very durable and could take more of a battering than that of the British BB’s. Not to say that the British BB’s weren’t well protected but still weren’t as good as the Germans protection. It could honestly go either way depending on who has the advantage like who crosses the others T first, who has more accurate fire, the weather , or even the position of the sun if it’s a day battle. It just depends on the circumstances. The Germans just happened to come out on top in this scenario.
