  • This jump, which goes by many different names, is difficult because of its preparation of 'tombé-pas de bourrée, glissade...'. The pas de bourrée is more a scissor than a bourrée.
    For the flic jeté (or whichever name you learned it by), you want to jump straight up whilst the front leg aims for a passé (or retiré) before the extension (developpé) whilst the back leg does a grand battement back and finishes in front (failli).

    I am glad you explained the part about the pas du bourree being a lie. I have always tried to do what I thought was a pas du bourree, but it never looked like what I see other dancers doing.

    We call it grand pas de chat.
    Next week we tried this very jump. I found that I have a limitation in my split becouse I used to put weight in front leg😣 😣😣

      Let's see how it feels when you keep the weight on your back leg.

    I still have hard time changing directions. For example, last night we finished with an assamble and a demi turn with a passe (we went backwards towards where we started).... QUESTIONS:
    (1) All looks efface. Am I correct?
    (2) Is the port de bras 2-nd to 3rd? I tend to turn my head towards the hand of the bent elbow
    Regardless, your video is so useful. I'm watching it again after a million times.
    :-)

      emirashier thank you for your question. I have trouble understanding what exactly you mean. There are different ways of changing direction, in this video I show the easier version. Another version would be a contretemps that I show in a different video.
      The arms move over first to second position and during the flic jete to fifth position (third pos. in Vaganova).
      Everything is in efface, yes. I hope this helps.

      @@frosenzweig OMG this is mega helpful. You're very nice! THANK YOU... I need to practice at home those changes in directions, using your "easy version". ... I think I got the arms correct... I can't wait to try your class and have more fun across the floor....For example, yesterday we changed directions 8 times (long combo).... I only did the 2nd half in the back of the studio....
      QUESTION No. 3:
      - What would you recommend to regain strength on high releve at the center? My left leg simply doesn't want to go there. All seems OK at the barre (it's easier to cheat too).

    • @HolisticBallet
      @HolisticBallet  4 года назад

      @@emirashier I always recommend to practise: 1) the weak side, 2) the strong side, 3) the weak side again.
      You can practise relevés on a cushion.
      Using the barre with a very light touch, relevé in the range from low relevé to high relevé. After 2 weeks training, let me know what happened.

    How do you get the back leg so straight

    • @HolisticBallet
      @HolisticBallet  4 года назад +2

      Before taking off, you want to have your weight on the back leg so that you can push powerfully off the ground. This engages the muscles. Often, people have their weight to far front and try to lift/ pull the back leg up. Does this make sense?
