Great comparison. I owned a Mach E GT for a year and a 22 Model 3 Performance for a year. Tesla was significantly better of the two.
But I hated that everyone owns a model 3 and missed the sound and comfort. So I sold it and bought a 19 LC500 - WOW what a car! Iconic style, amazing comfort and build quality and that sound..

I’m that weird guy who went this car over a M3p. I test drove teslas several times, I loved them so much I almost got one. But after I did some calculations in detail, the savings on a Tesla was not as much as I thought due to higher insurance on teslas in my area, and I also don’t qualify for tax credits. Add a little bit and I’m in is500 range for long term cost of ownership. Plus the build quality and fun factor I went with the Lexus. I’m so happy with the car it makes me want to go to work everyday. I have very long commute and this thing never bored me, in a sea of teslas in my company garage I’ve never had trouble finding my car. Its not for everyone. A tesla is a way better product of solving your daily problems, the 500 is for those who appreciate a well done old tech.

@@Tigerex966 to provide some information to the ignorant. if an electric vehicle's battery drops below 70% within 10 years (tesla for instance) you'll get a new battery. On top of that, you don't HAVE to get a new battery if you're fine with the reduced range. And if your battery is damaged after an accident insurance covers the cost. Same if an ice vehicle's engine is damaged. Also, speaking about range from ICE vehicles, engine also become more inefficient over time. On top of that, the cost to maintain combustion engines is hand over foot more expensive over the course of ownership. So the real comparison here would be to compare the cost of the is500 to the model 3 over the course of 5-10 years. We know how that story pans out.

Personally, I see the convenience factor of an EV if you commute from your home to work everyday and NO where else. I think they are a perfectly acceptable option for those that think of a car as transportation, and not as entertainment. The model 3 is a car with no soul. Is it fun to gap people off stoplights? Sure! How many times can you do that before you get bored of it? Bombing a backroad and listening to that crisp V8 scream will never be dethroned by the brief thrill a tesla's acceleration can provide. Having been in a few model 3's, I can say that the interior is terrible! the seats are relatively comfortable but having to navigate multiple screens to open your glovebox? That's wild. There is nothing stimulating about the interior of that car, and it all feels "budget" quality at best. I rode in a 2022 that already had deteriorating/discolored window trim! I may be old school, but I prefer analog buttons, and a good ole' naturally aspirated engine. As of now, I don't view tesla's as cars, I view them as toys. It's a great vehicle to grab some groceries in, but you don't experience the same connection or age old reliability as a Lexus.

I see why tesla can cut cost so much😂 a single bulky ugly steering wheel without even a badge metal in the middle. A single iPad. Sure does look like the "future" in their 😂 doesn't seem like ur experiencing a sports car or a luxury car. Luxury sports car give u carbon fiber around the car, carbon bucket seats or luxury seats,HUD, full self driving and auto park, buttons that feel good to press not having to scroll and take ur eyes off the road, higher grade material sport steering wheel that feels cool too have ur hands on, and a unique dashboard across the front. U can make it feel like ur in pure luxury or a luxury sports car. Tesla is neither its just so blah. I'm mindblown thats ur entire dashboard still. 😂😂 people praise them for being a poor mans fast car and now I see why.

What happened to the day when one purchased a car to drive and not worry about self driving and having a wireless phone connection ? How many people have difficulty driving let alone dealing with a phone and texting as well? I like the instant torque of a Tesla as it reminds me of my slot cars in the 60s. But for a road trip, I can refill at a gas station in five minutes and be on my way. I would not relish the time wasted waiting for a car to recharge. Perhaps for a commuting vehicle around town, but not for a trip vehicle. I used to own a 1967 GT 500 Shelby back in the 70s and it was fun to drive and did not worry about phones or screens. I recently purchased an IS 500 for those reasons.

I'll take the IS500 over the Model 3. If you don't qualify for the Federal tax rebate, it's about a 15k difference (65k vs 50k'ish). If you do qualify, it's about 21k'ish difference. And certainly, given the price volatility of Tesla, can go even cheaper for a used one. I think the average person would opt for the Model 3. The IS500 is unique enough that it's in a class of it's own given a compact sports sedan.

Without regen braking, it could easily burn-up those expensive brake pads vs relatively low cost tires in case of M3P. Wish there was a selective on-demand regen (using a clutched generator + resistive load), without batteries, just to give that instantaneous decelleration, without burning up those high perf. brakes. It would make it more fun driving under normal road conditions. Just some 💭

Slower in a drag race but higher top speed smoother ride easy to modd

My stepson is a finance manager at the local Lexus finance manager. A customer brought his $90,000 year old Tesla to trade on a Lexus SUV. The dealership offered him $42,000 trade. The guy walked out. A week later he came back and bought the Lexus. He said $42,000 offer was the best he could get. Just sayin'.
