This video is about a useful App for gold detecting in all states of Australia and the Northern Territory (as well as Canada & New Zealand).
I have provided information on how to use the App as well as footage of its use ‘live’ in Clermont, Queensland where I spent time gold detecting. I apologise for the quality of a small portion of the live footage due to rough track and sun reflection.
The developer sources data from state/provincial geological surveys and Geoscience Australia. Field data can be exported to Google Earth and your personal marked locations or tracks are private. Google Earth tracks can also be imported into the App as kml files.
I was not paid for this review or have any financial interest in the product.

I just downloaded it and your video came up. Thank you very much for putting that up and explaining it to me. Very much appreciate it❤
Well done young lady great video explained very well all the best Terry
Just a little tip - if you don't have a GPS receiver in your device i.e. iPAD Wifi, you can receive a GPS location with a Apple compatible GPS receiver :)
Thanks, Robert. 👍
Thanks, Robert. Can you give an example of an Apple compatible GPS receiver. That would be very useful
I believe that if you hold down the "Center to Location" button for Longer than half a second, it will turn the Blue (dot) position indicator in the Center of the screen will go Green and your Position will stay Centralized but the Map will move.
Thanks Tony. I’ll try it next time. 😀⛏⛏
Hi Annie, have you managed to find gold with the app?
Hi John, yes I have in a sense. I think the thing with the app is it has the locations of diggings/gold mines and in that sense puts you in locations of known gold occurrences. I look at the geology as well which may point to fault lines etc to prospect.
The other thing it shows are active leases so you don’t stray onto someone’s lease (using GPS to show where you are in a location). It also has a tracking feature you can activate to show where you have already been, follow back to your car or camp. It’s updated monthly, I think, so in my opinion worth the cost.
@@GoldNuggetDetecting Thanks for your reply. Do you use the detailed geological map and if so do you use the blue fault lines as an indicator?
Yes. 😀⛏⛏
@@GoldNuggetDetecting Great thank you, happy diggings!
I try tp enter gps coordinates from google earth and end up in a different part of the country
GPS co-ordinates can be in Northern & Easting or Degrees, Minutes, Seconds or Decimal Degrees. One needs to choose the type of setting in the options on Google Earth 🌎 to match that being input by you. Hope this helps.
How do I change colour off my trail each day
I can’t help you with that Glenn. Here is a link to the Troubleshooting section for Trilobite. There is a form at the foot of the page you can fill in for help with the app -

What if you have no internet coverage...will it still work..cheers
Yes, Rod it works off GPS. Your device (phone, table, iPad )must have inbuilt GPS.
Thanks for letting me know..
what kind of apps
This one is Trilobite… used in Australia. 😀⛏⛏
Is there a compass in the app
You must have a phone/tablet that has gps. 😀⛏️⛏️
@annlynch9768 yes I have all those I just like to know again is there compass I have had this app for 5 years
Compass - only appears when the
map is rotated
You can rotate the map by placing your thumb and index finger on the map, and rotating them. Click the compass icon to remove the rotation.
docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1-5LBlzFKNBZWn7LLi3sgr_TBM7J4emL-_-9nIp42d28/mobilebasic
It's not a true compass. The compass icon is only relative to the map on screen, it has no reference to the direction you are physically facing.
Cant even download it for android tablet .
