K K Manan Speaks on Independence of the Judiciary: Implication for Democracy

  • One of the most well known criminal lawyers in the country, KK Manan has been elected as the Chairman of the Bar Council of Delhi not once but twice, from 2007 to 2008, and then from 2014 to 2016. Strongly influenced by socialist ideolog, Manan started out his law practice in 1980. He served as the Standing Counsel of Criminal Law at the Delhi High Court from 1990 to 1992. From 2011 to 2014, he served as the Additional Advocate General at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He has been elected as the secretary of the New Delhi Bar Association thrice and also as its president thrice.
