Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of mates playing exhibition games, we now play in the 7th tier of English football, the Isthmian League Premier Division. We won our league in our first season in non-league football and were looking good for a second promotion when the 2019/20 season was voided, but after the 2020/21 season went the same way with us top of the Essex Senior League, we were eventually awarded promotion based on PPG over the two part seasons. In 2023 we won the Isthmian League North and will now play in the Isthmian Premier!
We merged with AFC Basildon Women in summer 2020 and formed our women's team, Hashtag United FC Women, who play in the 3rd tier of women's football, the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division, after they also won their league in 2023. We also now have 40+ youth teams, reserve and development teams, an inclusive team and a walking football team...plus our esports team who play FIFA at the world's highest level. Subscribe on RUclips for our latest football content (and watch our journey so far), and follow our social channels for the latest club updates.

Great work by the editing team for grabbing together all the footage
Indeed.....Splendid stuff
agreed, top job!
It's funny that they've been awkward with the filming as it's forced some angles of a screamer that we might not have had if they'd been more amenable 😂
It’s embarrassing with the way they don’t want the cameras… got players who would have wanted to become professionals and how, would they fulfil that dream when they can’t even handle being recorded. Embarrassing
@HK10GOALSit’s because of the behaviour of the Chatham fans there are some awful videos on twitter of them fans
@HK10GOALS Do you really think this was a decision by the players lol?
That Wooldridge strike wow 😳 such an underrated player
Net ripper
what a great angle too from behind the goal. incredible
I liked the zoomed out angle from behind the goal. Maybe hashtag keep that for other games.
TBF I think it only worked so well because there was a proper stand behind the goal which meant the camera was at a good angle. Wouldn't really be possible at home games.
@@aryanjolly1990 yep, most other pitches only have a stand on the sidelines, this was a one off situation, but could keep the angle when the ground is suitable
I agree, it is a view many of us would witness week to week in any away end :)
You can see why they didn’t want you to film the dirty gits. Disgusting stamp from the opposition. Well done to the ref for seeing it.
Disgusting reaction rolling about like that 😂
Come one now, not a red
@@TheDanovicYT What card is it for stamping on someone my friend? Yellow? Or nothing at all in your books?
@@CallumWebb-x4g But stamping is fine eh?
@@xRedBull25 i would have given that a yellow, it didn’t look like he stamped but more so stepped on him, that was soft
That behind the goal angle of Matty’s strike is 🤌
big up Callum 🤳😂
A blessing in disguise for us there
Chatham's management letting down the firms that sponsor them by not allowing the cameras, the extra exposure that they get on youtube is possible new customers. I'd be on the phone in the morning if i was one of their sponsors
Great point! Maybe someone should send them an email to give Chatham management a talking to
Great point.
Wow! What exposure?
@@izibane9295Check the view counter...
@@izibane9295 hashtag have 650k subscribers, probably quite a few local to Essex as well. What are the odds that just one person sees an ad for a company and gives them a call? That's money they're losing because of this weird decision... more people will watch this game than every other Chatham game this season combined without a shadow of a doubt just because of the social media presence that Hashtag have
To be fair, if your team was going to stamp on people for no reason, and the fans were going to shout “weeeyyyyy” every time an opposition player tore them a new one, you probably wouldn’t want to be recorded either 😂
Josh Rusoke is genuinely one of the best players we've had playing for the club.
Young left footed left backs with a wand, tags have done well with them
Quality player wonder if they'll try him at left wing
Chatham Town fan here..
I don’t think not letting you guys film is a good reflection on the club, especially given it would allow more exposure.
Hashtag’s performance in the first half was one of the best i’ve seen of any team at our level all season and the goal was worthy of winning any game, I was behind the goal down the other end so right behind it and it looked even better from that angle.
Not sure about the sending off, only Cooper knows if he meant it or not but you can see why it was given, the theatrics after were not needed though.
Fair play Sam.
It’s a stomp on a player. Clear red. Reckless endangerment.
He clearly meant it. Not only did he purposely step on his calf but he then leaned back to put more pressure on it. Disgusting behaviour
He felt that he was stepping on something that isn't grass and instead of pulling away, he put his weight down. Either it's intentional or he's a reckless moron, both warrant a red
Theatrics like that are all too common at this level nowadays, might be an obvious thing to say but the referee gets no benefit of a replay, so if he sees a player go down like that, over-exaggerated or not, he is most likely going to introduce a more severe punishment
Its funny how the angles we got of the goal are maybe even better than the ones we would have gotten normally lol
remarkable production given the circumstances.
They want to take our cameras & GoPros away from us but they can’t take 3pts away from us! 🤩
Big up everyone in the filming crew from various angles to get the job done! 👏
The 🐐
The fact that wooldridge was EVER dropped for the team this season is absolutely obscene. He’s been so good for so long- absolutely needs to start every game
Worldie from wooldridge🤩
Yeah, what a strike that was😅😅😅😅
Lad you’re not Osude
@@yann1124 it’s a joke bro😭
Change your name to 'WishIWasOsude' or f*** offf
way to spoil it with making this top comment
Thank you Matty… and I enjoyed this different style of video! 🔥
Lewis my question for season update. Why stop untagged on hashtag extra channel? You were getting quite big views for it. The views were growing i think as well.
Manifesting Hashtag in League One in 2030! 👀🔮
I know you’re reading this arish
Overall the quality of the video was really good! I didn't feel like I lost anything, and loved all the angles of Mattys screamer, cmon boys!! With love from Texas
UP THE TAGS
i love the fifa 96 on the sega behind the goal angle, thanks for still recording this game
Love Osude and no doubt the stamp was painful but I thought he was going to roll all the way off the pitch 😂
Devs must be so happy the team has started to perform the way he knows they can. The turn around from the start of the season is insane
Goal of the season think it’s even batter with the difference angles
Question for both of you lot: preview and review of the cup fixtures this season that are yet to come and have already happened? How happy are you with cup performances and progression this season?
Keep up the good work, up the Tags!
Question to Devs: How do you manage players' expectations and desire to play? Is it mainly about having the right mindsets and personalities? For example, it was really surprising when someone like Matty was often on the bench at the start of the season and this has caused other players to want to leave a non league club
it's non league ppl want to play it's simple really
FairPlay to the media team or editors not sure how it works but i know that wasn’t an easy video to edit so thanks for giving us a great episode❤
Question: does it look as if there will be any of the youth players coming through the academy?
great question
Wilson and Ellis have been on the bench a couple of times this season.
Half the season over, what an adjustment from the poor start. Devs and the team made some great additions with Apat and LMP and Day. Giddens stepping up huge too after his slow start
It's exposure for both clubs! Why not allow filming!? Crazy
Cos it's called 'Thick'
of it everybody knows
I hope we go up
Hashtag is huge. I've been following you since the early days of 2016. Kinda left in Covid and then returned when we got promoted to this division. Love it from you lot
This was a massive 3 points, from what I saw absolutely despised the way Chatham played, makes sense why they didn't want you recording it just my opinion though. Was fantastic footage seeming you had to grab all of the phone footage. That goal from Matty though was actually insane! Keep it up now boys, we are playing super well! Up the Tags #💛💙
i'd love to hear about the state of the club behind the scenes - how all the teams are doing, how players loans turned out, mid season goals and any infrastructure changes etc.
What a beautiful feeling it is to win against these type of teams. Matty’s goal from the top of the box has been coming, he always delivers some rockets from there. A bit worried about the next 3 games without Mert though.
Josh looks so much more comfortable on the left, I feel it makes him a lot more unpredictable. What a win
Fair play to the camera crew and editors
Notice how ever since Quba Gordon has left Hashtag have started getting points and winning games
The editing on this video 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
It really is embarrassing from these clubs refusing to let them film. Not sure what, if anything, they gain from it other than negativity.
Well done Hashtag - great result!
Brilliant work getting all that footage together team 👏👏👏
Well done lads - Another turning point in the last 2 videos i've said that make this count.,,, don't let your heads drop the next 3 games are very important.. keep up the momentum guys. Go Tags
Teams not letting you film doesn't really work out for them😂😂
3/3 so far 👍
Seemless editing...top job lads UTT!
Beautiful camera angles
Edit : I imagine you had to have them like this because of how the ground is but man really is nice to watch especially when the ball is on the right hand side
Thank you Chatham for giving us that behind the goal crowd recording of Matty's strike😂
Joshua Osude has honestly improved his game so much since his return. I remembered from before that I was always amazed by his lighting speed but that he lacked certain aspects in his technical ability. However since his return you can really tell that he has improved on his technical ability and his overall decision making and he is still one of the fastest players I have ever watched. He has become a very dangerous player and I hope that he will be in hashtag for at least another full season.
"Please don't film us so we can stamp on your players" Chatham are so cringe man 🤣🤣
Did a great job with the limited footage and MASSIVE 3 points. UP THE TAGS
Matty is so so good. I hope he never leaves also🤣 madness what he’s done with the tags. Being so versatile and just an engine. He’s got class and vision, a great shot and some pace. He’s proper. Really takes you back to JWL days. Maybe even better.
Yeah what a player 👏🏽
Same with JWL
crazy to think a few weeks ago there were a bunch of keyboard warriors saying he’s “nowhere near this level”
matty with an absolute banger, chatham not realizing that we play better when they dont allow filming, a class defensive performance from the back line, great game all things considered lads!
I came here to say this 😂
Great result again, well done lads!
Question for Devs - first of all, well done on turning around the season so quickly, being in the relegation conversation and now fighting for the playoff sports. Great job! now question from me as from a fellow coach, obviously I have much less experience and your input would be really interesting. What do you think about "closing" the game, while being up 1 goal. As I saw your matches, you tend to play same formation with low block, with 4 at the back. I have tried both, playing the same formation with low block and also playing with 5 at the back and adding extra defender. Especially, since there are constant crosses in the box and extra defensive player might be really helpful. What do you think?
And just a note to Spencer, I have started watching Hashtag videos from 2022 and since then you have been a huge inspiration to me. I am from Tbilisi, Georgia and I have been in football for quite some time, had my license badges and your videos inspired me to go for it and last year I founded a team with my friends and your journey to this level from 7-aside team has been a great example for us and we learned a lot from you guys.
Proud Hashtag fan from Georgia!
What I like about the cameras in the stand is you get a good vibe of the game with the crowd aswell
Question for the update: What do Misha and Toby got to do to start regularly this season? They always seem to give it their all and score and assist so often. Is it fitness/their schedules? Or is it a selection choice? Thanks for picking them recently, it's been good to see the team playing better as we settle into the league. Up the Tags!
Let that be a lesson, don’t let Hashtag film the match, Wooldridge will absolutely twat one top bins 🔥
My questions for the devs update video -
1. Will you attempt to get young talent into the club like Ted again? It seems like they would benefit from the playing time and exposure… and of course you benefit from some fantastic young talent.
2. And on the flip side. Would you look to hire older talent? It seems some soon to retire pros might want to use the exposure to help with a career after football… and again you would benefit also.
Go well for the season lads 👏
Max and matty have been rock solid in the midfield putting in shift after shift such underrated players huge reason for this teams success
I said it months ago that once the defence got sorted we would fly up the league. Another great performance against a decent team
Karl from kenya...watched like every game a big supporter of Hashtag united since sunday leagues and the tours in USA , Dan Brown would have flourished in this team. Lets # it!!! Letsgoooo!!!
filming was better than normal actually because those angles behind the goal are pristine!!
My question is; where would you like to see Hashtag United in 2, 5 and 10 years from now. Both from a club and a managerial perspective.
Question for Devs : Is there any plans to introduce ellis into the first team more reguarly and what level do you think he could play at in the future?
Question for Spen: Could the club bring back a podcast fortnightly for members so they get more of a insight into the club as now with not many tuesdays left it would bring some extra content to us.
Also is there any plans to bring out any merch.
In regards to the upcoming video with Devs, slightly of on a tangent but I'd absolutely love to hear an update on what some of the old players are up to. Is Ross Gleed still playing? What's Jesse Waller Lassen up to these days (what a player by the way, would have still carved up at this level), tell us more about Lee Hursit and his brother wining that cup at Wembley last year etc etc
The club is great at bringing up names at the end of season awards nights but from someone who watches every youtube video I reckon we tend to forget about some of the legends that got us to this point a little bit. Do you have a past players annual game where maybe you could take the camera around and get some 10 second updates on some of the lads for example.
In truth I think this should be a video on its own but a brief update on some guys could be tied in with the update video with Devs.
Keep up the great work. From a Newport County supporter that lives in Perth, Australia with Hashtag as my second team. Loving the journey following you online.
Mid-season update questions
Obviously most people will want to know squad updates.
I wanted to know if anyone in the youth/reserves setup are looking like they might be ready to step up, whether for a few games later in the season, or maybe even a big role next season.
And finally, are we looking at setting up any kind of relationship with a club in a higher division, for some loans. Hearing about the league 1 players on loan every second game is terrifying
Cant remember if i said it at the start of this season or end of last season, but matty Wooldridge is definitely our greatest ever player. incredibly consistent, versatile, everpresent. Attacks, defends, plays every position (sometimes at once). Heart and soul player.
Wooldridge for January player of the month. Putting in the work!
Matty W is the best hashtag academy series player to not have actually won it.
Well improvised on filming. They are sods for stopping the cameras.
So glad you beat them. You are absolutely right. They cannot stop you. Public place so photos and videos are fine. Is even ok in youth football. Prob not worth the effort but I’d report them to the FA.
Question: Spencer and Davs, what's the plan over the next 3-5 years. Whatever timefame you have set for what you realistically want too accomplish. Thanks.
The multiple angles on Matty's goal was perfect
MY QUESTION - it is for JAY - when did you start cursing like a trooper at half time. (I suspect it was frustration at missing all those chances, as it stopped once we began to score them.) OTHERWISE, after a win like that, the play offs are in # sights. Matty - what a shot. Great camera work despite lights reflecting on pitch.
Since matty woolridge playing lcm he’s meet amazing. He been plying ever so better and affective there. #hashtag💙
Great rise up the league table after a mixed start to the season. Team is really coming together well.
Matty Wooldridge is so so good man, what a find he’s been
Question for the squad update video. Is Devs in control of his own future? I personally think he’s a great non League manager, if Hashtag were to break into the Conference South or higher do you (Spen) & Devs think he has the ability and desire to manage at that level? Cheers Tom (Norfolk)
I would like to know devs opinion on why Quba Gordon didn’t workout with the tags, and maybe the 3-5 year vision that you guys both see for the tags. UP THE TAGS!!! Love from Pennsylvania US
Been a fan for 2 years now, love the videos and seeing the other side of English football rather than the top leagues
Question for the mid season update: With club like Chatham Town stopping you from filming at the ground? Could you invest in something like a Veo or dartfish software for Performance analysis purposes and use the raw footage as the match day highlights? I have never seen clubs in our league have problem with the veo camera for example
Woodridge goal had every single camera angle🔥
It’s a shame that Matty STRIKE wasn’t captured normally but glad you guys got it what a beauty
been a fan of spen for years, and I love checking in with hashtag every few months or so to see how they are cracking on in the league, I don't have much context to this season because of that obviously, so my question for the mid season update is does devs and you think that the team are performing as expected this season? or are they going above and beyond what you thought you could achieve this season, much love guys
Amazing job by the editing crew for putting this together!!!! And great job but all the fans getting footage!!! #########
Glad you enjoyed it!
question for the mid-season vid - what jobs do the boys do for living, if not footy?
Goal of the season already
Josh osude is a special player wont be surprised to see him go to an even higher level soon everytime he touches the ball you expect magic
Any plans on another youth intake trial video? Really enjoyed the last one and is still great to see Matty Wooldridge doing it every week for the tags!
Won’t let you film, dirty stomp right in front of the ref, disgraceful on their end tbh. Great halftime talk by devs as well today telling the boys not to lose their heads
teams dont learn that making it difficult to film is letting us win every time😂💙
Not allowing to film is a dickhead move, filming these games brings exposure to both teams. I'm lebanese, I live in lebanon, I would have never cared for non league if hashtag had decided to stop filming once they became part of the league pyramid. Filming these games not only brought more exposure to Hashtag but to none league football as a hole and othe teams as well. #upthetags
The camera from behind the goal 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨keep it i reckon😅😂
100%
I didn’t know clubs were allowed to stop you from filming tbh. Makes their club look bad to 100’s of thousands of viewers.
Also when you sit down with Devs I’ve got two things maybe not to directly address but I’d like to know who all the back room staff are - would be nice to know what everyone does etc.
and finally will Hashtag look at building a community trust or charity foundation in the coming years? Would be great if you guys did 👏🏻
Doesn't make sense to me why a team would stop you from recording, it can only benefit them and give exposure to their brand and sponsors. Unless they are fudging the books with crowd numbers or the like and don't want footage of it.
Goal was a worldie, and worthy of winning any game, been a good few weeks and I think we have become harder to score against which was always the issue.
My Question would be for spencer and that would be what work is being done in terms of the pathway system and this can apply to both the mens and womens team, if you look at the reserves there aren't many players you can see progressing through to the first team and you would hope that you would get one or two a season who would be looking to be progressing through the ranks
I don't quite understand why a team wouldn't want you to film.. even just ask for a small fee? Like it increases the production value for your match as well. Amazing job by the editors to put it all together.. to by honest those camera angles were great! What a goal...
For Q&A : In Devs opinion who is the best player he has managed in his career.
Another great win up the tags 👏
For the Q&A : Squad building for next season should be get more physical in all areas of the squad, especially in midfield and defence.
Up the tagsssss, this run of form could take us up easily josh and sak again look electric, Matty speaks for himself reeks of quality!
Dont know why they would try to make it hard to film when these videos gives teams exposure they otherwise would not get, then wonder why teams with a social media following do so well while they never improve or fall off
Matty Has been brilliant recently and that strike was amazing
Matty Wooldridge take a bow! Looking like player of the season already, what a servant he's been for the club and some player too.
Matty son take a bow, wat a player
Question: Given the current finances of the club, what is the earliest possible date, and a realistic range of dates for a hashtag united stadium?
Currently being the 2nd lowest home attendance in the league seems to be a problem given the gap the home league table (16th) to the away league table (4th), so a stadium would do wonders to help with that, along with other things like food sales, ticket sales, etc for revenue
if the attendances arent that good, theres not a lot of point in building a stadium as they arent that likely to improve, the club was only founded in 2015 so having hundreds of people turn up week in week out is a success in itself, will need a few more years (10-15?) before plans of a stadium will pan out.
Its also important to note that the club havent properly settled in a division yet, once they do they will know how big they need to make it according to league restrictions and making sure they are realistic but aspirational with the capacity
We all hate Chatham, we do 🎶
Cheers for the cup final win last April😘
