The heartbreaking story of Uta Abe, a beautiful judo athlete from Japan, is worth discussing. The reigning judo champion suffered an embarrassing loss at the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Диёра Келдиёрова в мае 2023 года проиграла в финале чемпионата мира - японке Ута Абе, чемпионат мира в мае 2024 году снова серебро, проиграла итальянке Одетте Джуффриде ... никаких истерик не закатывала, не каталась в слезах ... а тут японка на тебе ... смерить надо гордыню ... узбечка во всех отношениях молодец !!! так держать УЗБЕКИ!!!
Диёора что бы стать чемпионом не только тебя и всех остальных соперников победил которые были не хуже тебя. Победа достанется самым сильным.

je suis passionné par le judo, c'est un sport qui véhicule toutes les valeurs que j'apprécie ! c'est un sport magnifique car il est dur, il est rude, c'est un sport sans compromis et il faut être convaincu que même les défaites sont belles car cela signifie que ton adversaire a été remarquable !!
She had a panic attack, I think. She said she couldn’t calm down. She was in shock that she got eliminated early and will have no chance for a medal, not even Bronze… She’s supposed to be composed and calm because she’s a long time martial artist. But something in her head must have snapped… Diyora is really good, ranked number one as per judo federation. But Uta was Olympics defending champion. It was such bad bracketing that they were pitted against each other during that elimination round when gold or silver could have gone to either of them had they been matched much later… But it wasn’t an embarrassing loss at all. Just because she was previously undefeated does not make her first loss embarrassing. Diyora was not a chicken opponent. She won the Gold medal after all.

C'est une très talentueuse judokate et j'espère qu'avec l'aide de son coach elle reviendra plus forte sur les tatamis. Quand on tombe il faut se relever et le plus rapidement possible.
I understand why it is a shameful act by Japanese standard. In judo or any sporting martial arts, the sporting spirit & respect are more important than a win/loss. Take note that the opponent is not a "nobody" with no.1 ranking in the world and she had trained as hard a any other judokas. Respect should be given to the opponent for not pumping fist at her win over Uta. Uta herself has been guilty of doing that act in her wins in the past.

First time seeing this young lady Uta Abe in action, her disgusting display of self entitlement was shocking. Japanese are famous for their stoicism, humility and abhorrence to shame. But this emotional outburst by Miss Abe is shameful. She has brought dishonor to her teammates, coaches, family and nation. Someone once told me, "Measure of a person is not how you fall, but how you get back up."

阿部詩選手は注目されていた選手なだけにフォーカスされていますが、試合に負けて泣き出した選手は他の国にも沢山いました。彼女は負けてしまった自分が情けなくて泣いています。それはウズベキスタンの選手を尊敬していないからではありません。
日本人選手は基本的に試合に勝ってもメダルをとっても冷静です。対戦相手を前に大袈裟に喜んだりしません。そのような行為は相手に対して礼儀がなっていないと考えるからです。しかし他の国の選手には負けた相手の目の前で派手に喜びパフォーマンスをする選手が多いです。その点、ウズベキスタンの選手は感情を抑え阿部詩に対して礼儀がありました。日本人はこのような選手が大好きでウズベキスタンの選手のことを素晴らしい選手だと言っています。
阿部詩の涙については日本でも意見が分かれています。しかし、泣くことを過剰に責めるのであれば派手に喜ぶ選手も礼儀がなっていないため責められて当然だと思います。

What a disgraceful reaction. Lose with dignity and honour the person who beat you. Think about how you would feel if EVERY opponent you beat reacted like that? It wouldn’t be your victory then, would it? It would always be their loss. And this is how they would disrespect you. Sickening. This is why the English have an expression. “Be magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat”. Perhaps Abe Uta can manage one of those but not the other?
