Watching This movie was all the birth control I needed
Sandra Gorail 😂😂😂 same
Your statement made me laugh sooo.. much.🤣🤣
Gurl 😂😂😂
😆😆
Sandra Gorail lmao legit same tho
this is one of those movies you think is gonna be funny and light and then when you actually watch it, it's too real and depressing.
Magic Mike anyone?
Kat yeah me and my mom cried
3wr w3r
Just like with Juno. I thought it was going to be a comedy.
@@tomsdottir first one is boring. Second one is the funner one.
I saw this movie when I was 12 and it made me make the decision to never ever ever become a parent when I was young/not ready. They need more content like this where it shows how having a baby can completely ruin your dreams, instead of Teen Mom where they're all rich now and not even portraying a message anymore. The trailer doesnt do it justice, but the mom ends up basically hating her life for 20 years and its very depressing, yet realistic.
Anna Holle i don't think it's right to say any child "ruins" someone's life. it may drastically change it and make things very difficult, but that's not the child's fault. they should never be made to feel like a burden or inconvenience. all the young parents i know wouldn't trade their babies for the world
She did not say the baby ruined her life, she said having a baby did. That does not mean the same thing.
It really is....
I found the moral of the story would be some things are better left unsaid. When he realized his own family would never talk to him again if he aired all the families dirty laundry for the world to see.
Yes this movie is why I was so scared to get pregnant by the wrong guy me and my husband dated 6 year and after we got married I still wanted to wait 5 years to have a baby got pregnant after 2 so happy I waited so long though.
I've had many up and downs in my life but being a wanted child, being the product of a planned pregnancy and having the love of both my parents, is my biggest treasure. Ive always believed that its because of this that Ive never been in an abusive relationship. Feeling unwanted is the shittiest feeling a child can experience.
I can vouch for this.
I was unwanted and my parents divorced and Im 31 and never been in a relationship PERIOD.
Well faq you 😂😂😂 jk good for you haha
i agree that it is true that the relationships you see and are a part of as a child shape you significantly as an adult.
suffice to say, i STAY single. 😂... 😔
Such a messed up movie... this is the best birth control !!!
that movie was so sad and frustrating to watch. the trailer makes it seem fun and happy... nope, not like that at all.
thanks for the warning !
Zina Eb i7
So true
LadyStarkgaryen I agree. I felt the same thing when I watched it for the first time. I got desperate, actually.
Ikr lol she hated that kid almost
Is it just me or does this look sooo much older than 2001
Yeah they kinda set the movie like in the 60's-70's
@@MA-yc7pz Still looks like an early to mid 90s movie. This doesn't look like it came a year after Charlie's Angels. It's not just cuz it was set in 60s to 80s. The camera and way it's filmed makes it look it was filmed in the 90s. It was probably made way earlier, but took very long to get released.
I remember when this film came out it already looked kind of old lol. So you’re not imagining things.
3wr3wr w3
It looks like it is from early 90s for some reason.
wow this trailer makes the movie look so uplifting and inspirational, it was so far from goals and it was literally what we watched in health class to ward us off from teen sex... so this shows how not goals it is. actually quite depressing.
"you look beautiful mommy " I gave out a big AWWWWWWW.. until i heard him cough on the hair spray - i bursted out laughing X'D
So sweet!
This was a sad movie and most people don't like it because it deals with the realities of life. I love it because it makes me hope that after the wrong choices that we make, we can always choose to make it right. :)
I really loved it. There were parts that were sad but they worked out. It was uplifting.
I agree... I love this movie for the same reason.🙂
aw britney Murphy! ♡♡♡
eddiebcha RIP.
RIP 😍😍
May she rest in peace, i will always remember her as Molly from Molly Smiles...
i love her in clueless and this movie
Tyler Buck, There’s some conspiracies saying that she and her husband were murdered by her mother.
I love how the trailer makes this movie seem uplifting. it's fucking depressing for anyone who came from a broken home. the kid is raised by a woman with a narcissistic personality disorder and a drunk dad and he grows up to hate them both
Camille Pango rite lol
I don't think he grew up to hate them both. and the mom was what you said, but she didn't have a lot of help, so I dont' really blame her being the way she was.
true
It's a movie I guess trying to show how she rose above all of her past as we all have pasts and they can either make us bitter 😠😣or better ☺️👍🏽
Camille Pango you have it wrong!!! She ending up doing what she wanted in the end and her Son did not follow in her footsteps. The only thing the mom was guilty of was starting to depend on her son as an adult he just wanted he freedom as any young adult!
This movie isn't a happy one it's honest and raw. How Jason doesn't end up resenting his mother is something I will never understand. She blamed him his whole life. For him being born. He didn't ask to be born to them. She's lucky he is forgiving towards her.
@J H wat
@J H Her parents didn´t allow it. They forced her to get married to the father, and stoped her from getting an education.
I wish i never read this but at the same time im glad i did
oh shut up lmao
She didn't blame him. At the end she says he was what saved her.
I could so see Drew and Brittney being friends in real life, they seem so alike.
Yes.. So sad for Britney 😞 RIP
*Brittany
I had a strange obsession with this movie at age 13 and would watch it over and over
Same and I'm now childless at 30
Me too
@@JulianneHannes I have a child at 30 and I gotta say as much as I love her... I kind of wish....
@@jessica33313 If you were going to be like this why'd you give birth to her...
Same.. 😂
I almost drop a tear while I was watching this movie. Especialy when the father quit his family and when he said to his full growned son that he will never see him again.
Me: Oh, this movie seems cool I’m gonna watch it.
Comments: This trailer is such a lie, the movie is depressing
Me: 👀
jordan bubbles! Watch it tho, it’s worth it
the acting is so GREAT AND The kid is so cute. its not depressing. Unless you are like most idiots who cant be inspired by EXCELLENCE. Drew gave her best performance and the kid was a natural.
I was thinking of watching it and same situation mine. Suggest me what to do! Whether to go for it or not!
To be honest, I can't understand at all why people label this movie as "depressing". It's not. It's funny, it's good, and it's slightly sad at the end, but not depressing.
this is one of the most underrated movie classic of all time
This is one of my all time favorites. For how depressing it is I still find a sense of comfort in it.
💯!!
I don't have kids and I see Young moms taking their kids to college and see how harder it is for them to even pay atention while taking care of a kid in class. Was so sad to see in the movie how much she wanted to go to college but couldn't then. Please use a rubber + contraceptive in case 1 fails.
This movie, jawbreaker and romy and Michele's hs reunion are My top 3 favs!!
I liked this movie much. I felt completely absorbed into the heroine's life - a life full of obstacles (which the heroine created herself for herself) and struggling with them - good story and very good acted. All the kids playing the heroine's son acted so adorably.
I love how it dosent show that classic happy ending with the happy couple and doesn't shy away from the realities of motherhood
I love this film one of my faves. Brittany Murphy and Drew Barrymore have great onscreen chemistry. Fabulous film!
I'm your mother so that means you're not allowed to stay mad at me . YUP that's how mothers work :)
More like abusive mothers...
I mean toxic mothers yeah
She was a horrible mother soooooo
i never heard of this movie before i watched it on a whim and it emotionally wrecked me
"I'm your mother so that means you are not allowed to be mad at me"
What children hears:
" I am not allowed to have feelings"
20 years later:
Child is badly sick for suppressing their feelings!
My story in life! I was not allowed to cry, to be mad, to have wishes, to have dreams, to be cared and loved .. I was only allowed to be a silent doll to fulfill their schedule and their selfish dreams that they never did it ! otherwise if I try to existed OMG !
Even after I got cancer they tried to suppress my feelings, but it is out of my life those who tried!
Yes, you are allowed to be mad because you are human with feelings!
i hope u feel better now
Panda vilaboas amen!!!!!
This comment just made me cry... I hope you feel better now, and even if it sounds shallow (what it actually isnt) but the fact that you made it thru shows how strong you are! Not many people are capable of this and I sincerely hope you can express yourself as freely as possible in the future
Apparently you got no problem expressing your feelings now I guess that's a good thing sad story but I'm betting your better now I bet you're a lot better now. Nice release.
Exactly. That kind of emotional blackmail and emotional abuse takes a toll on a child. I hated her character in the movie, she didn’t take accountability for any of her decisions and constantly told her son that he ruined their lives. And she blamed him for Faye leaving.
It’s amazing how despite having so many troubles and going through a portion of her life thinking she’s a bad person, Beverly makes a life that’s more than she imagined and ends up accomplishing what she has her heart set on in the end.
The woman Drew plays was my teacher in grad school. She's a very kind person. She had us do yoga.
I sure bet those jerks who all stopped casting Drew during her addiction they enticed were kicking themselves during the late 90’s / early 2000’s saying “why did we let little drew barrymore get away”
I cried when I first watched this movie. The toothbrush scene always gets me.
This movie was good, but it’s not an upbeat fun comedy the way the trailer makes it. It’s a serious drama about making bad choices in life, but even after hundreds of bad choices, there is still hope to break out of that and she does. It just takes her the long way around, which is pretty true to life for many.
People really dislike this movie because they think Beverly (Drew Barrymore) is a narcissist but I see this from the pov of Jason. He suffered just as much.
This is why I get so confused when I see other teenagers complain and get mad when parents are “overprotective” and strict about boys and going out late, drinking, etc.
literally my favourite movie of all time. they dont make them like this anymore :( this movie got me through the worst years of my teenage life. thank you
i was crying like a baby when the dad left
This little boy is a angel!!!!
Right?!
I don't care if this movie is hated, I still have plans to watch it because I absolutely love both Drew Barrymore and Brittany Murphy (may she rest in peace)!
This trailer sells this film like a "feel good comedy" when it is 100% not.
This movie changed my life, honestly
I was 13 when I saw this with my mom at the movies. Good mother/daughter time.
I was 13 when I first watched it too.
Having a baby when you arent ready no matter the age is stressful. This movie inspired me so much while I was pregnant
James Wood and Drew Barrymore united again after success on Cat's Eye. She was only 10 years old in that one.
nope this movie was depressing plz nope
yeah? Why?
it was great but sad reality of life sometimes
Damn I really miss Brittany Murphy RIP😢♥️
She's gloria from happy feet
Saw this movie with my mom, this is our story.
I love drew Barrymore
Movies
Wherever i get older i go go back to watch thèse movies they mâke me feel younger💜
I guess I don't really understand all the hate towards Bev. She had it really rough and she did the best she could. She did have some resentment towards how her life turned out, but I never saw it against her son, but rather (fairly) against the people who held her down. Having the baby didn't ruin her life, being forced to marry the baby's father did. How can she be blamed when she was the one who stayed? Now, I'm certainly not saying she was perfect, but I don't think yall are being fair.
One of my favourite movies!I'm surprised it wasn't at least nominated for an Oscar.
Riding In Cars With Boys is kind of like the real life Knocked Up. A freaky, unfunny version of Knocked Up, that lasts forever.
One of the best movies I´ve ever watched! I have kinda forgot that it even existed and now I really want to watch it again.
I remember when I first watch this movie and I fell in love with it and I was looking for this movie for months because I forgot the name and finally I found it now I’m finna go watch it
I watched this movie with my mom and loved it
This movie is extremely underrated
Honestly, this was one of the most *depressing* movies that I’ve ever seen... 😭
The movie was funny and slightly sad. A traumatic film is, for example, "Requiem for a Dream".
I can watch this trailer forever and ever because I love drew Barrymore so much specially when she becomes emotional 😭 that’s when I love her the best!!!!!!!!
I’m literally trying to figure out why I watched them a movie at age 9 honestly why did I like it. Why do I still like this movie. Haha
Saaamee
I was 17 when I watched it like a lot in just few months lol. This is one of my all time favorite movies😊❤
I’m so happy this movie doesn’t sugar coat anything. There’s no definitive happy ending, they leave you to assume their lives were decent but there’s also a good chance it didn’t get better. I wish they showed this movie in my parenting class. I think it would have really helped. Four of the girls from that class ended up getting pregnant two years later. All 19 or under. None of babies fathers seem involved or committed to raising a child. Harsh reality of teen pregnancy.
Just out of curiosity.. you had parenting class in high school. I graduated in 2010 and I feel like its definitely necessary.. just haven't heard of it in schools before!
As most people have commented, this movie really was depressing. BUT does anyone remember the sweet song played throughout the movie? "Dream" by the Everly Brothers, I think it was. Great song!
"Leave me alone!"
"I am your mother! You are not allowed to stay mad at me! "
What a great movie!! One of my favourites, for sure. I love it!! Ot makes you laugh and cry... Just amazing!!
I remember watching this movie as a kid and crying!!! Like absolute bawling
This movie is far better than what it seems like from the trailer.
Watched this movie in 2016 and I loved it. It was so refreshing to watch and it stuck with me. I don’t want a life I will regret. I don’t want to ‘end up’ in life and will work to create a life I love.
Drew & Brittany 😭❤️
They don’t make movies like this anymore. Every movie now is either super heroes or Pixar
Drew Barrymore is pure love.
this movie is my comfort movie...
This is the best movie i have ever seen.....love for drew barrymore ❤
Second favorite movie 🎥 🍿 😙😙👏🏽
My mom made me watch this movie as a kid and I swear it traumatized me
When people ask me what is your favourite movies i always answer the interstellar which everybody recognise and this movie, and everyone was like whaaaaat we've never heard of it,but honestly this movie is great
Yeah...
Damn, Hans Zimmer, you used to score some ordinary films.
xjames118 lol
lol, Hans Zimmer has been scoring movies since the 80s, this wasn't him getting his start.
Besides this movie is great. The "ordinary" is what makes it beautiful. It's real life. It's about people. True, the trailer makes it seem more upbeat than the movie was, but that's the fault of the trailer and the marketing. The movie is great.
RIP Britney Murphy. Such a great actress.
I've never watched this movie but the "Ooh Child" song makes me feel nostalgia and sad that my life has flown by so fast. 😢
Steve zahn is a harvard alumni, just let that sink in
This is so realistic I have to tell you as a mom ♡
Actually to all those people I was born in 2000 and now I m 17 years old and watching it now only after since 17 years of life
I spent my all Life driving on cars with boys 🎶
i watched this when i was like 9 or 10
it was actually a pretty good movie in my opinion since its relatable in some ways
ME and MY MOM'S FAVORITE MOVIE! I watch this with my Mom when I was in high school, one of the toughest and hardest times in my life.
Love from the Philippines ❤️
Man! My childhood were filled with so many amazing movies 💚
"fun uplifting movie abt the power of love and family!" haha nah its abt narcissistic parenting and cycles of emotional abuse
Very true. Verbal and emotional abuse and blackmail.
Top fave movie !! RIP Britney 😞🦋🖤🦋🖤
I loved when her husband said this to her: I MAY NOT BE THE PERFECT GUY, BUT NOBODY WILL LOVE YOU LIKE ME, BEV!!!!!!!
I actually liked the movie. The trailer makes it sound like a happily ever after life is perfect but the movie itself shows you no matter what your family and friends will always be there for you. I liked how it was eye opening. Not one of my all time favorites, but one of my favorites about real life. Makes me realize struggles can lead to better things and don't last forever.
Brittany was such a good actress, damn shame, wish she was still here
britney an drew the perfect best friends
How did Drew Barrymore not get an Oscar nomination for this?
My favorite stories were those of Tommy, Tina, respectively. It shows the realities of life; how it can change completely for people. The main character always thought life had something special in store for her for no other reason other that she was smart and naturally gifted, always looking down on others without realizing it ( Tina and Tommy) who each started our humble but grew up to accomplish great things and become great people..
Someone NEEDS to make this movie into a musical!!!!
I remember watched this when I was a little around elementry school I think. And i cried. I forgot the whole story but I knew I was crying before.
Steve was born in the Marshall Minnesota were i live .We were both born the same year in 1967. I was born just 1 town over from him in Redwood falls Minnesota.
My favorite movie
Drew Barrymore is just phenomenal 👌
One movie where you have love, hate relationship with this movie! 😭💔❤️
this movie es one of the best of Drew Barrymore, love it
the ending is perfect!
this movie makes me laugh & cry
