I saw this movie when I was 12 and it made me make the decision to never ever ever become a parent when I was young/not ready. They need more content like this where it shows how having a baby can completely ruin your dreams, instead of Teen Mom where they're all rich now and not even portraying a message anymore. The trailer doesnt do it justice, but the mom ends up basically hating her life for 20 years and its very depressing, yet realistic.

Anna Holle i don't think it's right to say any child "ruins" someone's life. it may drastically change it and make things very difficult, but that's not the child's fault. they should never be made to feel like a burden or inconvenience. all the young parents i know wouldn't trade their babies for the world

This movie was good, but it’s not an upbeat fun comedy the way the trailer makes it. It’s a serious drama about making bad choices in life, but even after hundreds of bad choices, there is still hope to break out of that and she does. It just takes her the long way around, which is pretty true to life for many.

"I'm your mother so that means you are not allowed to be mad at me"
    What children hears:
" I am not allowed to have feelings"
    20 years later:
Child is badly sick for suppressing their feelings!
My story in life! I was not allowed to cry, to be mad, to have wishes, to have dreams, to be cared and loved .. I was only allowed to be a silent doll to fulfill their schedule and their selfish dreams that they never did it ! otherwise if I try to existed OMG !
Even after I got cancer they tried to suppress my feelings, but it is out of my life those who tried!
Yes, you are allowed to be mad because you are human with feelings!

She did have some resentment towards how her life turned out, but I never saw it against her son, but rather (fairly) against the people who held her down. Having the baby didn't ruin her life, being forced to marry the baby's father did. How can she be blamed when she was the one who stayed? Now, I'm certainly not saying she was perfect, but I don't think yall are being fair.

I’m so happy this movie doesn’t sugar coat anything. There’s no definitive happy ending, they leave you to assume their lives were decent but there’s also a good chance it didn’t get better. I wish they showed this movie in my parenting class. I think it would have really helped. Four of the girls from that class ended up getting pregnant two years later. All 19 or under. None of babies fathers seem involved or committed to raising a child. Harsh reality of teen pregnancy.

As most people have commented, this movie really was depressing. BUT does anyone remember the sweet song played throughout the movie? "Dream" by the Everly Brothers, I think it was. Great song!

lol, Hans Zimmer has been scoring movies since the 80s, this wasn't him getting his start.
Besides this movie is great. The "ordinary" is what makes it beautiful. It's real life. It's about people. True, the trailer makes it seem more upbeat than the movie was, but that's the fault of the trailer and the marketing. The movie is great.

Watched this movie in 2016 and I loved it. It was so refreshing to watch and it stuck with me. I don’t want a life I will regret. I don’t want to ‘end up’ in life and will work to create a life I love.

I actually liked the movie. The trailer makes it sound like a happily ever after life is perfect but the movie itself shows you no matter what your family and friends will always be there for you. I liked how it was eye opening. Not one of my all time favorites, but one of my favorites about real life. Makes me realize struggles can lead to better things and don't last forever.

My favorite stories were those of Tommy, Tina, respectively. It shows the realities of life; how it can change completely for people. The main character always thought life had something special in store for her for no other reason other that she was smart and naturally gifted, always looking down on others without realizing it ( Tina and Tommy) who each started our humble but grew up to accomplish great things and become great people..
