Every player should come with 3 decks like at hearthstone for example. Then each player one of the opponent deck, and then they are playing BO3, where player have to change deck if he win one game.
Great hosts, crazy synergy. Loved tht wittiness fight even more than the tournament.

This is really fun to watch 4 weeks later. You see so much more depth in the decks and watch decks that were bad before become meta. I also find that the commentary seems like they were just getting into the game which everyone was.
In the other card game broadcasts I watch they show both player’s hands and I kinda like that, obviously speculating is also fun but I think it’s better if we can think and talk about both player‘s hands & plays

no it is possible, hearthstone also does a multi stream layer, and thats the same they had to do..
its just not that easy because every player ran the game in another solution / Size etc.. maybe in the future
You can easily just have a small window in your broadcast where it shows the opponents cards, doesn’t have to be a full permanent view of the opponents gameplay
Loved the tournament it was cool to see, I am excited to see how the game evolves as new sets are released
Can someone explain to me why the person going first doesn’t get an energy? It doesn’t make sense to me why the person going second should get one but not whoever goes first. Am I missing something? Feels like person who goes second has a huge advantage
Bc whoever goes first is able to use supporter cards right away, and if youve ever seen a lapras/articuno deck that got lucky with a misty support on turn 1, youd understand why cards are more important than energy earlier on
There are several basic and evolved Pokémon that can do some pretty good damage for only one energy. And with player one being able to evolve their Pokémon first, it'll give an even BIGGER advantage to them than player two has right now if they were allowed to attach on their first turn.
It's a decent trade off.
Great tournament! Btw on that last game, Raven couldn't have played the Koga combo after he played Sabrina to bring Venusaur in. It's very easy to make that mistake cause in other card games there is no limit on how many cards you use from your hand.
The one supporter per turn limit makes this a bit more difficult to line up combos - seems balanced enough though.
I’m pretty sure that’s how supporters work in the 60-card game as well

Raven couldn't have used Koga the first time as he had already used Sabrina that turn.

@ every says subbing in wiggly early was a misplace but I don’t think so, they aren’t letting me knock out vena for free with Erika and x speed. I just wanted to confirm the knock out bc the match up is super unfavored for me

@@Violet_Erin every card/rng game also including magic and Warhammer all have luck built into the game. The complexity and skill comes in planning around the luck in order to win. This is how a deck can win against another deck that has a type advantage over it. Obviously a turn 0 7 heads Misty on Articuno EX just cheeses a win, but a majority of games aren’t actually like that, and as the game progresses more cards will be added and most likely less coin flips will be included in decks.

Thanks for streaming and commentating it, only thing I didn’t like was how many matches we missed/joined as it ended on the stream. Matches are short enough that more if not all could be shown particularly in later rounds

This was awesome! Makes me think though that they should put in the ability to watch other players matches. Like maybe you can watch your friends if they are in a match. Also, maybe setting up clan type feature. They could call it a "gym". :)
It’s pretty dope seeing Paul rudd do casting for a small event like this. He and dex have great chemistry.
I would have preferred to see the full match of each battle but this video was great I love it and wanna see more tournaments.

Because we played the soft launch, and all of that progress got carried over to the global launch.
People moved to new zealand and played for a whole month before leaving to their home country

The Red card wouldve helped Raven as he was able to stay around 2 cards however, he did have both Sabrinas in his hand for most that. Without knowing that, its hard to red card there.

It's probably just my experience but Misty doesn't flip tails like 10% of the time (both for me and my opponents). Idk why people hate it so much.

Misty is so broken and everyone knows it, but at the same time its so funny when its tails first and does nothing 😂
I think on the last match with koffing, going first is pretty good because you can evolve first.
I hope TCG pocket will release an „OG“ mode with the original ruleset, 6 price points, 60 card decks, 5-bench etc..
2:26:33 instead of conceding couldnt jeff use sabrina, water shuriken the weezing, retreat into frogadier and attack weezing for 30hp. Next round the now 80hp weezing gas leaks and attacks the frogadier for a combined 40hp leaving 40hp. Finally, to win the match jeff evolves into greninja, shurikens the 80hp weezing and attacks to knock it out, winning the match. Am i missing something?

The backwards packs has been an EX for me every time that I can remember.
That misplay on eggs turn misty-ing the wounded lapras is so painful to look at should've gone to dragonite instead. Great tournament btw, I love seeing some new variants on staple decks.
You can only Misty water pokemon, it couldn't go on Dragonite anyway. She was probably hoping for a highroll as a last resort

Posting before I watched any of the matches... but I run not-EX Lapras in a Dragonite build because Misty is inconsistent and 2 Energy Retreat makes 1 energy Lapras viable to soften up the active poke slightly while still being reasonable to switch out. AND it's only one Point if knocked out instead of two.
Great tourney guys, awesome casting. Would be cool to see a Swiss stage or double elim in future tournaments - always sad to see someone go out first round on a brick or some rough draws or coin flips and not have a chance to recover.

@@jprec5174 yaps. 5-10 minutes for this type of games, i think thats enough. It can do rounds like "Best Of (BO)" to make the match longer. like Best of 3 etc
you're right and wrong.
There are a few overturned cards (namely the basic ex cards and misty) that make the game go too quick. It makes the game reliant on coin flips, how good you're opening hand is, and if you go 2nd.
If you remove those overturned cards then it actually has pretty good gameplay that rewards good resource management and positioning.
I want to see the basic ex cards nerfed and misty should be water brock. The game becomes A LOT better with those changes
@@Joeybanananas pretty much every water pokemon is tuned around misty. By brock do you mean limiting the pokes she can buff or just 1 guaranteed energy? Because if thats the case then brock needs to be buffed too as well as lt surge
@@jprec5174 The mons she buffs. Specifically I was thinking mons associated with her like brock.
But I can also accept brock and surge getting buffed to be equal to her. Either option is fine by me.
I feel the basic ex cards are the cards that are REALLY overturned. Like how can you look at pikachu and genegar and decide that they're equally strong and balanced.....
As more cards come in I hope it changes the game to be a little more like the original. Cuz right now it’s all about going 2nd with the right hand. Mainly just being lucky

Idk why everyone is doomposting about the games complexity. We're still in the first set. They have time to guage power and balance. They can also add more support for multityped decks and even create direct counters to the meta. We are in the first meta, maybe next set will have a focus on status or bench damage, we will just have to wait and see.
Also, personal opinion. Yu-Gi-Oh is not superior. MTG is.
I totally do respect your opinion but all I’d like to say is my cyber dragon infinity is gonna have words with your Atraxa. Most of theirs are gonna be ouch.

Besides it’s not like cyber dragon is even a good deck either it was a rogue option in like 2019 so I’m probably dusted either way.
@a-lex578 Haha, I'm a total MTG junkie. I don't know much about the other card games. All I know is that MTG is fun as hell to play, and I have made WAY too many EDH and 60 card decks, too.
Tournament was pretty fun to watch. But i do think its way too early for a tournament. Not enough variety of decks and basically a free for all. It was mostly like if you get a good hand gg. For the next tournament there definitely need to be some bans for certain teams.

Run Giovanni in a lighting deck and when you get those chances when you go second have out a voltorb and all they have out is a staryu gives you that one hit kill and ends the game it's rare and alot has to come together but it's baptized a few times for me was great
If he just waited to heal the venu for 50 instead of 40 that would've made a difference too

I think this game desperately need a mulligan in the start of the game. Too many times you don't get anything in your starting hand even if you run 2 profs 2 pokeballs in a deck

I keep hearing RUclipsrs mispronounce OG pokemon names and it's upsetting that they may only be doing this because of how big it is currently
Biggest gripe with the game is the total advantage Pika and Mewtwo have, they are so far ahead in power level it's bad. And I really think in general the should have avoided ex mons in general. for a casual game the just feel bad.
the worst part about mewtwo ex decks w gardevoir support are how they aren't creative, interesting, or fun to play against/with at all. I feel like I try to make fun decks that leverage cool mechanics and every time I find a battle my opponent's opening board is either two mewtwo ex cards or two articuno ex cards IN THEIR WHOLE DECK. what's even the point of playing?

Hey man I just want to express again how sorry I am for my rude intrusion toward the end of your fun and lighthearted stream tonight. To be honest watching you battle live feels like how a football game must feel to a sports fan. It was totally uncalled for but it came from a place of passion an the intent wasn't malicious. Anyway, I hope you don't ban me or something. Been watching your videos since worldwide release and you've been very helpful. I made a real fool of myself, but I hope you can forgive me.

To me its crazy , gameplay on this game its so simple, its basically a callective card game with a small game in it. How can you talk about competetive play???

Not enough cards,at the moment it seems psychic decks are taking the lead with not enough good dark types to counter,the set up gardevoir and their pokeability,plus mewtwo ex,and that's basically it.
Kind of ironically, a dark deck won...

the thing is, you can allways play meta, but thats what makes you predictable, most decks run the same trainer cards, if you play the same mewtwo/pikachu deck that everyone else, no one is gonna be surprised at all.
besides the game its in its initial stages, you can win with a lot of decks, been having lots of fun with a venosaur and a marowak deck, have fun, the meta is more open than it seems at first stages.(this tournament proves it)

Phil yummus shouldn't of healed right away, wasted 10 over-healing and he should've retreated at the end. That venasaur deck is strong. I use a similar one, he had the game if he didn't blunder.

Electross also paralyzes. Although its a good card nobody considers using it because tynamo has 30 HP.
I'd try but i somehow have 3 electross but none of his basic or stage 1 forms lol. I've been running gyarados which means 30 hp magikarp. If you go first and all you have is magickarp yes you can lose turn 1. So you have to make sure you have more basics to than karps to even out the odds. So 2 karp means 3-4 other basic pokemon. I probably wouldnt play it in a tournament.
30:53 I honestly believe this interaction especially perfectly showcases why Yu-Gi-Oh always was ahead of Pokémon TCG: At the end of the day it all comes down to coinflips which is kind of sad from a player-skill perspective. Still a fun game tho, just limited by the luck factor in my honest opinion since the human brain always strives to optimize and control all aspects of a game which it can never do here
I’m not sure how the actually TCG is and if it’s a lot of coin flips… but Duel Links (mobile yugioh) is very similar to this with it being quick. Luck based.
I do wonder if things change a little bit more with more sets? I hate basing my damage and wins off of coin flips so I tend to use different cards
And what happens in "skill based" card games? Everyone runs the same meta and it comes down to who draws what first and who does or doesn't get a bad hand.
@jprec5174 and yet in Pokemon you can play skillfully on a regular basis and still get shafted by luck
@@LilBigSnipe The point is that the luck of the draw affects your start but from then on out your success is skill based. In Pokemon you have the necessary luck of the draw PAIRED with the knowledge no matter how good you play, you or your enemy are 2 coinflips away from getting completely dismantled

Gameplay is rather basic but good commentary made it fun to watch
the fact that this game doesnt have a ranked mode or competetive mode ie beyond crazy to me and a big turn off

54:00 you keep saying pika doesn’t need anything and that is plainly a lie. It NEEDS electric benched Pokemon. Which means no excessive knocking out early game taking out ur basics and ur whole team essentially has to be electric or you run the risk of having something like a normal type being stuck on the bench hindering the damage. Pika is definitely worse than starmie in every way shape and form other than the fact the best decks in game ie Starmie and Moltres decks are weak to lightning. Giving it that pseudo champion deck.
And electric pokes have the lowest hp values. But that's why zapdos is important to take the sabrina and retreat with just 1 energy cost. Honestly zapdos doesnt need anything other than 1 energy as an open and sabrina retreater. His coin flip is a last resort against something like venusaur. It's fair to say the pika deck works because of zapdos a lot like moltres for charizard and arti for a few water decks.
Brwo he literally lost the match bcuz he used Erika too early for 40hp if he waited for full 50hp he would've won
