So many hobbies I want to work on, and so little time and energy 😣 Anybody else ever struggled with this?

Yes and sadly I get into some horrible times where I ignore one for the other. Well at least we aren't alone haha

@@janelle.loves.languages If only there were more hours in a day to accomplish it all! 🤣 Definitely glad to get validation from others struggling with the same issue

I have sooo many hobbies but never at the same time. I let them rotate and try not to be bothered by it.

@@TempestPhaedra yeah, I've definitely rotated through a lot of phases in my life, but I wish I could juggle a few at the same time a bit better. I don't want to have to put languages aside!

This is definitely something I struggle with a lot, as I have chronic fatigue. What usually ends up happening is that depending on the period, one hobby will be more prevalent, and I'll cycle my main hobby from month to month. A way of being able to do more hobbies at once is to combine them. My main three are reading, language learning and genealogy. I can usually avoid completely dropping one of those hobbies by combining them. I'll read in other languages a lot, focus on the part of my family that's from Italy and therefore study Italian genealogy related vocab, etc.

Welcome back!! Yes 100% I always have struggled with this immensely, mine is languages, reading, and fitness - pick 2 only lol. Not to mention things like drawing that I’m trying to add back in.

Yeah the "pick only two" meme is really spot on for this scenario... and I feel like in addition to just fun hobbies, there are also just boring life things on the list of options, like laundry or decluttering, that also fight for the same time/energy slots 😂 It's impossible!

I have been in such a slump. I still WANT to study Korean and love it but my motivation has been low for some reason. I did go to Korea for a week in October because I won a speech contest with my country's KCC and all the Sejong Institute winners got to go to Korea, so it was super exciting. However, as a very borderline lower intermediate learner, I found myself struggling to keep up. So many other students there were more advanced than me and it really made me want to study harder and get better. I just need to carve out more time (less doomscrolling would help lol).
As for multiple hobbies, it IS hard when you already work full time. I love playing The Sims but if I do that it takes up all my time. It's tough to balance!
Maybe I just need to borrow one of your challenges or create my own and get moving on Korean learning.
Here's to both of us staying motivated!

Wow, that's super cool, but it's a bummer that it was a bit overwhelming. Being surrounding by people who are better than you is such a double-edged sword -- inspirational, but a bit stressful as well lol
Yeah, my language learning has become really tied to my video making, so after swing dance replaced my typical editing day my language learning basically came to a grinding halt. I need to figure out a different video schedule so I can get back to my challenges/weekly vlogs and inspire myself to study again 😂 -- they're so helpful for getting back in the studying groove!

Maybe try a change of environment to get back into it. I was in a study slump for weeks here and now I’m forcing myself to go to the library a couple times a week to get anything done. It’s been productive, I feel much better off now. I’ve always admired that you could study so consistently at home. I get distracted and fall asleep.

I'm the opposite -- I can't relate to people who study outside their home 😂 There's a couple reasons why:
1 - I like to read out loud (or just literally talk to myself) while studying, which is obviously easier to do at home without appearing like a crazy person haha
2 - when I'm at home, I can study in PJs and unbrushed hair -- a huge advantage
3 - the biggest reason -- For me, I'm such a homebody that leaving the house for basically any reason feels like a chore. That means that when I've tried linking my language learning to going out to a cafe or library, I just end up dreading the trip out or putting it off endlessly, so it ends up just making me even MORE unlikely to study by making it feel more burdensome.

everything you said is SO real!! 🥲 like, as the year has gone on i’ve been wanting to get into other things (exercising, coding as well!, etc.) and i noticed as i took those on, my language learning time fell expontentially 😅 and its been hard to keep them all up, between work and then sometimes just needing a brain break!!

At the time it always seems like there should be enough time to do all the things you want to do, but it never seems to work out that way, does it?
