Got swept up in the first few hectic weeks of school immediately after filming this, so just now got around to editing and publishing it three weeks later. Oops! How's the first half of September treating you all?
I've felt uninspired making videos on my channel despite taking a trip to Seoul / Osaka in June. So I can relate to being bored with RUclips but I'm still here watching your channel and glad to see the update regardless of how inspired you feel at the moment. As much as I'd like to learn 3 languages at once it always burns me out when I try. I really respect anyone that does it. The swing dance group sounds fun. I'm surprised you're not the only foreigner.
Yeah, I was relieved to not be the only foreigner, just because I don't like standing out in a crowd 😅. I've learned that swing dance is quite more internationally popular than I had thought! That's kind of what I figured -- if people want to watch my videos, they'll watch, regardless of my inspiration level or if the content is a bit repetitive😂 But the downside is that my motivation for RUclips is closely linked to my motivation to study, so when I feel uninspired in my video content, I also often become uninspired to study at all 😅 And yeah, I'm very rarely *actually* studying 3 languages at once. I can't remember the last time I actively studied Japanese 😅😅😅 It only really happens when I do challenges from time to time that push me beyond my normal limits. I still claim that I'm learning 3 languages, but sadly, I've probably forgotten more Japanese than I've gained in the past year since doing that daily Satori Reader challenge in the summer/fall of 2023...
I totally get the doing the same thing in vlogs, it’s always like “mm yep still reading this book… still using this app” 😅 hope your semester is going well!
The semester has been busy, but things are going well! Yeah, exactly 😅 On the one hand, I don't want every video to look the same lol, but on the other hand, I guess it's a realistic view of what it's like to study a language 😂 it's not usually a bunch of new exciting activities, but more of finding a routine of a few activities that you enjoy for each language
I went to the Daiso in my town for the first time recently and wanted to clean them out on stickers. The only thing stopping me was the side eye from my sister. Hope to go back soon. That nail polish color is really sophisticated and pretty. It suits you
I'm so late commenting on this, but I really enjoyed the vibe of this vlog! I went to Korea for a week earlier this month and omg I love Daiso! I went shopping there twice during my stay and it would have been so easy to just lose my mind (and my bank account balance) in that store
I started out 14 years ago learning only Korean, and then I picked up Mandarin a few years later, and Japanese a few years after that. Korean has always been sort of my "one true love" as far as languages go, since I've been by far the most passionate about it throughout all these years, but I do find Mandarin and Japanese fun to learn (albeit much more slowly). But they are definitely more of side projects, and Korean has generally been my main focus throughout the years. As far as your other comment goes, although I try to respond to most comments, and I'm usually pretty quick to respond, I cannot guarantee that. This semester has been quite exhausting for me, which has led to fewer videos from me, and I've also just not been checking this channel as regularly to interact with my commenters as I would like. You are obviously free to subscribe or unsubscribe as you wish, though 😊
PS - I'm having a hard tme finding exams to measure my language levels in another language - how do I go about doing that? For example, I want to measure my level in Spanish or French to try and aim for a B1 or B2 level. How do I find the exam online to do this so I have that documentation? If you have an idea of it, please do let me know =) Thank you!
Unfortunately, I'm not sure I know enough to help with this. If you need official documentation to prove your proficiency in a certain language, I'm pretty much only familiar with the official tests for the languages I speak (JLPT, TOPIK, HSK), and as far as I know you'd have to pay and take the test at an official location to receive documentation. If I misunderstood your question and you're looking for just a casual test to check your level, what I've done is just google mock tests for whatever the official test is for that language (like mock HSK exams, for example), and just find a free one online to test myself with. Hope that helped! That's pretty much the extent of my expertise on that subject haha
hello dear Madison. are you still in Incheon? I've been truly so frustrated with my lack of progress having lived here in korea for 1 year =( I feel like the dumbest person ever, and the thing is, this did not happen in other countries where I taught. now, for sure I am still far from perfect or fluent in any of these other languages...but somehow the language just CAME more or better to me in these other countries. Korean has affected me on a psychological mental level like no other language has - believe it or not, i find Korean harder than Arabic! Anyhow, I am sorry I just needed to briefly vent here. Please do let me know if you'd like to meet up at some point.
Sorry for the late reply -- it's been a bit of a hectic semester. That's a bummer that you've been feeling down still about your lack of progress, especially compared to the other experiences you've had. I know that psychology can have a powerful effect on our brain/body... I wonder if your frustrations and struggles are making it even harder to learn the language, in some sort of terrible, brain-working-against-you kind of cycle?

Thanks! 💅🏻 Yeah, I was surprised at how many stickers I ended up buying 😅 I was only planning on getting a couple lol. Thankfully they're cheap!

And yes, Daiso is easy to get lost in 😂 the cutest dollar store ever! Hope you enjoyed your visit to Korea 😊
Subscribed. Why are you learning so many languages at once?

For French, you should look into the DELF. There are free exams online and samples of writing.
