Dude that roll read from EVO 2019 makes me pop off a bit every time.
He knew EXACTLY what Tweek was gonna do. It’s nuts. He stood, waited, and perfectly punished the roll. So cold.
The sad thing is that Tweek read Leo's roll at the ledge and had the chance to finish it off, but hesitated and failed to punish. Then, Leo was like "lemme show you how it's done". Savage.

I love that he can make fun of himself/admit (for more... "Convinced" viewers) with the idea of plot armor and luck carrying him at times lol
You have to get a little lucky somewhere along the way to win tournaments, but a lot of these weren't even that heavily luck-based, it's just crazy nerves in a last-hit situation and the fact that Leo comes up on top more often means he's just better at dealing with really clutch situations.
@@shepardice3775 perfectly explained, his coolheadedness in high stress situations means the opponent usually cracks before MKLeo does, which is why it always feels like hes always lucky

@@shepardice3775 oh I realize that, but w the exception of bullshit trades and weird mechanics (players screwing themselves even) the luck is normally forced by the other top player. I prefer to call it chance, personally (don't believe in luck) which is honestly the same concept.

Zackary loosing it's definitely sad he wanted it so bad and you can tell he has so much passion for the game too 😭
Tweek too! I heard he suffers from depression or anxiety (forgot which), so it must be heartbreaking to always come second to Leo.

I hate how Leo got the most savage roll read of the century on tweek and the commentators completely failed to notice it.
Yeah, EVO 2019 have the best Grand Finals, but the comentary is shit and bias towards Tweek. I saw many people complain for that.

No matter where you go in the future leo, you have been an amazing force of competetiveness, sportsmanship, entertainment, hype, and an overall blessing the community should always be grateful for. You will never meet most of us, but know you have hundreds of thousands of fans who are cheering for you every tournament (or at least up until you eliminate their actual favorite in a classic losers run ;) ).

When you're at the top of the game playing in so many tournaments, you're bound to find yourself in situations where you may be "lucky" just from the sheer number of times you're in these high-profile situations. This is something for most top players and especially so from the #1 player who is the comeback KING and plays 2x more games doing runs through the losers bracket.
I do find it kind of funny now that Leo has won a major with Byleth, the meta has changed.... instead of saying he's carried by Joker, haters will say he's carried by luck now :P

This is actually absolute totally normal, when performing at such top level of anything, the least amount of luck can shift tides totally, just like the Usmash from Zero whiffing weirdly or a ball moving funny at a football game because of wind blowing in that moment
To beat Esam, he will have to go back to Joker. Byleth is too easy for Pikachu.
Even if he died in all of these scenarios, MKLeo is a living legend.
That set with Tea is probably my favorite set in Smash Ultimate, watching that live does crazy things to your heart rate

Revisiting the samsora sets feels weird now but I still think it was one of, if not the closest rivalry Leo's had
Yeah, they didn't put that here, but the Grand Finals of SmashCon against Samsora also was an amazing reverse 3-0. Similar level to the EVO one.

That tweek moment with charizard is always a heart breaker to watch. That roll read was insane. Probably the best roll read in smash history given the context.

It’s kinda interesting how when you’re at the top, you gain some kind of aura which causes most opponents to get nervous and choke more easily
Seeing Zackray cry after that Smash con set makes me sad every time… sucks to see people be so hard on themselves

This guy has spent countless hours and days and time refining his mentality, his gameplay, his skills, and when he breaks now because he lost a game after getting so close yet failing every time impresses me due to how long it took him to even break once.

I like how most of these games Leo gives some sort of "no fucking way" reaction as if saying that he really didn't deserve to win those games, but he did anyways.
people say kola got robbed but on 6:10, if u go frame by frame with pause and , . u can see leo is still on invincibility frames from the tech roll. besides being just a pinch behind the f smash too
leo is buffering shield, so leo is able to being hit a few frames before the shield animation starts to appears, but by the time leo is shielding roy's f smash already happened
Plus it's weird to think that Kola got "robbed" when he was trying to get the KO at 50% and had twice that much on himself.
Ya that one's on Kola, misspaced it by moving too fast during the getup so he went thru him.
Looking back on the clip after watching it like 10 times, kola hit the dtilt and had the tech chase but instead of pressing a button at the end of the first dash, he dashed twice and overshot the spacing. Unfortunate for sure that was a super hype set
