Why give a “title” to how we live and care for our young… is there a prefix to the word Family..? Is the a prefix like “liberal or national” to the word life..?
The English word “individual” already means - not Divided.. consider the suffix of - dual .. not dual.. … I suggest we all be very careful with the language and it’s etymology, before we talk about what right I/you claim under that “title”. 👍🏻
I don't agree with the premise that just because liberalism is based on "individual rights" -- which assumes a priori rights -- that that means the focus of liberalism is on the individual as opposed to the society Just because one begins with a premise that assumes a priori rights doesn't mean that one denies that one is a social being foremost. I reject the distinction. Liberal welfare state nations all recognize a priori human rights while at the same time also assuming a social good (or goals) precisely because humans are social beings and we live, not as individuals but in societies. Contrasting this with the idea of nationalism is, frankly, a contradiction of the premises on which our system of government is founded. No one disputes we are born into a social group, tribe, whatever you want to call it, but that in itself is not nationalism, that is simply a rationale for xenophobia. All born in the US could be "nationalists" but the distinctions between us based on group identity is NOT a definition of nationalism.
