The Cenobites, flesh made art. The originality of these creatures alone cements their presence near the top of the monster totem, not just of 80's slashers but of any cinematic era. Seriously, they're so cool they don't even come after you. You've gotta come to them and BEG them to come after you. But I must admit, I really only like the original cenobites (Hellraiser, Hellbound). The ones that come after are walking gimmicks. Come on, CD man, camera guy?
My favorite is Chaterer. Pinhead or as he's known, the Lead Cenobite is my favorite. The ones from the first Hellraiser as a group where my favorite. Even Pinhead said it in Hellraiser 3; "a shadow of my former troops." :)
I know people use to ignore the Hellraiser movies after the fourth one but it would have been great that you include the cenobite twins and torso from Hellraiser 5
I love the Cenobites. One of the most recognizable brand of horror monsters ever. Following the first three, I'd have to say my favorites of the sequels were in Inferno. Particularly the torso that's obviously been designed by the Chatterer, that proceeds to climb up the stairs after the male lead.

Srsly, The only entries I LOVE are the 1, 2 & 4 (which I find rather underrated & suffered the same hatchet that shortened Alien III, a shame truly) The 3rd one is Too cheesy (come on CD ?), while the 4 th at least gave flesh art cenobites , say what you will but the way the twins were made ...pain indeed!

They soon found it that wasn't the case and were tortured and warped into cenobites and became part of Pinheads following. If you watch the second Hellraiser, it shows the Cenobites in their human form near the end, what they used to be etc. I remember Clive Barker talking in an interview about a deleted part of the script where he showed the Cenobites in hell waiting for a lost soul-to open the box.
They all were twisted by the box. Victims or gifteds by the shadows of it desire and darkness. It seens simple on the movies, but the puzzle box can only be solved by someone with a lot of desire inside the heart. So it seens like that the ones that can solve the box, are turned into cenobites, and all the cenobites were humans at some point of their existence.
Not from Hell in the biblical sense, but a dimensional realm where pain and pleasure are indescribable. I dare say, some of those cenobites actually love what they do, they were so twisted as human beings.
personally i dont like any of them cause they scare the living daylights out of me. i watch tons of horror movies but these are the guys that freak me out the most.
The movie Cenobites are great but there's a lot better ones in the Hellraiser lore. Pinhead was/is only one leader of one Gash (term used for a group or legion of Cenobites). Balberith is a good one, she Hell's Liberian and a member of Pinhead' Gash. You don't need a puzzle box to summon her either. As she is summoned via The Puzzle Dance. So be careful in the nightclubs lol.
