கருவறையில் சிவலிங்கத்தின் பின்புறத்தில் சிவனும் பார்வதியும் திருமணக் கோலத்தில் காட்சி தருகிறார்கள். அதனால் இங்கு அதிக அளவில் அறுபதாம் கல்யாணம், கல்யாணம் நடைபெறுகிறது. திருமணம் ஆகதோர் இங்கு வந்து வேண்டினால் விரைவில் திருமணம் ஆகும் என்பது ஐதீகம். இத்தலத்து அம்பிகையையும், திருவலிதாயம் பாலாம்பிகையையும், திருவொற்றியூர் வடிவுடையாம்பிகையையும், ஒரே நாளில் சென்று வழிபடுவோர், இம்மை மறுமை நலன்களைப் பெறுவர் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.மூலவரின் கருவறை விமானம் யானையின் பின்புறத் தோற்றம் (கஜபிருஷ்டம்) கொண்டது.மூர்க்க நாயனார் அவதரித்த தலம். இவருக்கு இங்கு சந்நிதி உள்ளது. குருபூசை நாள் : கார்த்திகை - மூலம்.
Vedapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, located in Thiruverkadu, a Municipality in Tiruvallur district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Shiva is worshipped as Vedapureeswarar, and is represented by the lingam. His consort Parvati is depicted as Balambigai.The vimanam (roof tower) of the sanctum sanctorum has been constructed according to the Gaja Brishtam style of architecture.
This is the birth place of Saint Moorka Nayanar, one of the 63 Nayanmars.
It is believed that this is one of the temples where Sage Agasthiar was blessed with the wedding darshan of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. In the sanctum sanctorum, behind the main deity, there is a relief that depicts the lord and goddess in their wedding posture.It is significant to note that in this temple the Navagraham is placed on “Padma Pedam” and is in the shape of an octagon. This temple is also famous as a parihara sthalam for Navagraha dosham.
Saint Arunagirinadhar has sang songs in praise of Lord Murugan of this temple in his revered Thirupugazh. Since Lord Shiva of this temple is in his wedding form, devotees believe that worshiping the lord here will remove obstacles from their marriage proposals.
Devotees prefer to conduct their 81st birth day (“Sadabishekam”) in this temple.
