Wow I just came back from a university college study day (after thoroughly enjoying your cyber security talk) and I would have never expected you to be a RUclipsr. Glad to see a fellow youtuber😂❤
Hey Savannah! Thank you so much for making this video, it's really cool to hear about what you're doing. I'm currently applying for a job as an outreach officer at Oxford and was wondering if you have any tips?
Hi!! Yes! For the outreach jobs I applied for, you also had to do a written test, a PowerPoint presentation or both as well as the interview! The written tests are fine, it’s usually about reading a spreadsheet (nothing super tricky!) and writing a pretend email liaising with different people to put on an outreach event. Double check all your answers!! The presentations will usually be on an outreach related topic that you’ll have to give as though you’re giving it to school students, so make sure you explain everything really clearly! Finally, the interview is usually a pretty standard interview with a panel of around 3-4 people. I think it helped me that I had had experience in 1. Access 2. Oxbridge and 3. I had been doing some event planning for my department which had a lot of transferable skills (e.g. sorting out guest numbers, dietary requirements, accommodation, travel reimbursements) so if you’ve done anything similar to that be sure to mention it! Good luck 🤩
