Who knew I would ever be pleased by the fact that i randomly bought a pack of those little disposable cups about 2 years ago and haven't used them...until now!
I made this today and I loved them! They weren't as fluffy because my meringue peaks were firm instead of stiff (my arm hurt so much DX lol). But they were still pretty fluffy and soft. I will definitely be trying these again! Thank you!
Looks wonderful, think I might try to make some myself. Oh and I just thought to look it up, 70ml is about 2.4 fluid ounces. You can get the 0.4 of an oz with about 2.5 teaspoons. Meaning that the flour is about 14.5 teaspoons or 4 tablespoons, 2 teaspoons, and slightly less than a half teaspoon. Sugar is about 7.25 teaspoons or 2 tablespoons, 1 teaspoon, and slightly less than a quarter teaspoon. Milk is .8 of an oz, which is a pain to measure in oz.s but is probably most quickly measured in oz.s.

Just another tip to make sure they turn out fluffy, make sure when mixing the egg whites with the other mixture you do so softly so that the air bubbles are still kept in the mixture. And if you cook them in a pan with the lid, add a bit of water (a few drops) so that they are kept moist :))
australianbeanz Yeahh the really end is what got me. I got as far as having pretty stiff peaks but they entirely flattened and got too wet once I mixed it in with the yolk mixture
@@JenAyuni yea the technique of mixing is very important... Fold it gently with the whisk or spatula to make sure that the air bubbles are retained.. 😊
People should be aware that these start to shrink as soon as they stop cooking and begin to cool. @@BeefWagon If you mix the eggwhites well they don't become flat even after cooling. But don't overmix them either because it will have the same effect. The eggwhites should have "tops" in it like it did in the video. They might still shrink slightly but they won't flatten if you do it correctly.

@@souadk.4933 If you have ever touched it, it feels like tendon or ligament. It's neither egg white or yolk, and for some reason I don't want it there, to keep the ingredient "pure". The closest analogy might be when people make stock from meat and bones, usually they skim off the fat and scum. No one ever taught me this, I just started doing it after I started cooking myself. If someone else made the food (with eggs in it) I will still eat it.
Interestingly, the other video I saw where I saw the chef removed it, the chef is Japanese (this one is Korean), maybe it's an East Asian thing to do (I was born in Taiwan.) Pure speculation though.
I majored culinary in Tokyo and I was taught to remove it in baking particularly in pastry. When that “string” is cooked in the batter, it makes a cooked egg white lump and that is not ideal in delicate pastry. Won’t matter much in general cooking, bread or doughy baked goods, but in fluffy cakes and crumbly meringue, the lump won’t feel so elegant so we remove it. Also, the string makes whipping(foaming) egg difficult, that’s another reason.

I agree with you!
70ml is 4.734 us tablespoons. That isn't very helpful though, as tablespoons don't usually come in decimals
I just used a 1/3 cup, but with a bit less. You could do a heaping quarter cup or a scant 1/3 cup.

The only thing is you need to eat it asap because if you wait, it shrinks.
I definitely replace this with my pancake recipe.

2:03 I always remove it.. of all the baking videos I've watched, this is only the second one where the chef removed it.
May I ask why? :)
Thank you so much for the replies! I'll remove it from now on then haha
Am I the only one who got anxiety from the maple syrup almost running off the edge of the plate? 😂
Me too!! Haha
@@hiraeth103 me too 😅😅😅
i wanna try this recipe but everyone is saying theirs turned out flat so 😭
They messed up
@@sloth1021 i know i'm worried it's too advanced for my amateur skills.
Melody Munoz-Ortiz mine got burnt. The egg white wasnt whipped that good
Its actually pretty hard to get it right but still the flat ones were good.
try putting a drop of vinegar in the egg whites before whipping (it wont affect the taste). it helps make it stable
