  • Teaching our keiki that we need to keep our oceans clean is very important. Although we are diligent in keeping our oceans clean and picking up our ʻōpala, not everyone can say the same. Make these easy Sand Sifters with Aunty Kana from our Tūtū and Me team, and sift through the sand during your next beach adventure. Your children will have fun shoveling in the sand and feeling good about keeping our ʻāina clean.
To create a sand sifter, you will need:
    1 10"x10" piece of screen
    4 1/2" PVC elbow connectors
    20 zip ties
    1 rubber mallet
    Scissors
4 1/2" PVC pipes cut into 12" pieces
2 8" (or smaller) pieces of pool noodle
Disclaimer: Please assist your child while creating these sand sifters (use of scissors, mallot, etc.). When cleaning the beach, be sure to use gloves and be careful of the trash you collect.
Happy sifting! Mahalo for doing your part in keeping our beaches clean for future generations.
