    Amazing how large and powerful that drill is with metal gears and such, and it is only a 3/8" chuck. Older drills were built to last... Thumbs Up!

      @@AJRestoration Mine is my dad's old drill. I restored the electrics three years ago, but left the outside as I found it (just clean) - that way it will always be my dad's drill. I didn't need to replace the brushes even - they were perfect. Part of the collection is the stand, the saw, and the gearbox for drill speed reduction.

    Did you forget to varnish the stator winding and service the chuck? Or is it intended?

    • @AJRestoration
      @AJRestoration  3 года назад +3

      There is no need for varnish, the windings were all still perfectly coated, the old people knew what they were doing. If the windings ain't broke, don't fix it. I go by that motto and it's true, If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

      @@AJRestoration We Russians have such an expression - "to do double work". This means that it is better to do it once as it should, so that later it would not be redone again. Moreover, the device is over 70 years old. Best regards to the author.

    Great work!
    Nice job polishing all the screw heads, sandblasting everything and cleaning up the motor windings without breaking anything! Glad to see the efficient use of cleaner, too often folks waste way too much by soaking in a gallon of cleaner. I also liked the small bits of sand paper sized for each job.
    If you want to get rid of small surface scratches and casting lines, consider filling them with epoxy filler before you powdercoat. (E.g. filler www.alvinproducts.com/In-The-News/ID/8/Epoxy-Putty-for-Powder-Coating).
    You have the #1 required skill to get it done right, patience methodical persistence!

    • @AJRestoration
      @AJRestoration  3 года назад +2

      Thank you for the kind comment!
      You have NO idea how I have searched for that kind of filler. Sadly I am now in South Africa, and to import something like that is extremely expensive, and it will probably arrive in the year 2050. Our postal services is an absolute wreck.
      I have found a epoxy resin with metal particles and it seems to work okay for now, it's not great but it works.
      Thanks again for the comment, I have saved the link for future use.

    1)мало смазки в редукторе.
    2)не смазаны втулки.
    3)щётки туговато ходят в шахтах-подвиснут.

    дрель на втулках и без единого подшипника? Вы серьёзно? Ха-ха.. Вдобавок, автор ещё и смазку не заложил во втулки.. Ну а покраска алюминиевого корпуса серебрянкой "под алюминий" - это полный финиш. Нельзя было что ли его отшлифовать и отполировать? Короче, строго в соответствии с поговоркой "выкрасить и выбросить".

    • @AJRestoration
      @AJRestoration  3 года назад

      Вы не понимаете, о чем говорите. У дрели нет подшипников, есть втулки, втулки смазываются, не смазываются. Сверло не красилось, имело порошковое покрытие. Я не шлифовал и не полировал его, так как это убирает историю сверла. НО спасибо за ваш вклад, я ценю это.

    • @ShortCircuitRu
      @ShortCircuitRu 3 года назад

      @@AJRestoration Поясняю мысль: дрель на втулках, а не на подшипниках - это не серьёзно. Игрушка. Действующая модель инструмента. Дрель должна быть с шарикоподшипниками, везде: в двигателе, в редукторе, на выходе.

    I really like your work but would encourage you to be a little safer for your own sake (e.g. gloves when working with solvents & wire wheels). Thanks for the great work - no criticism intended.

    • @AJRestoration
      @AJRestoration  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for the kind comment! I have actually tried to use gloves for the wire wheel and its a total disaster, the wheel tends to grab the glove and I can't seem to hold or grip the small items. I have tried to use pliers to hold the small items like screws but as soon as I start the wheel grabs and shoots the item into the heavens never to be found again. So when I use the wire wheel I just do it REALLLLLLYYY carefully, and when it gives me a little brush by warning, I stay calm an just move back a little with no harm done. When you use the wire wheel you get used to it, but have respect for it its not your buddy haha, I do use eye protection ALL the time, no exceptions.
      The gloves with the chemicals is a good idea, yes. No excuse there, the only chemicals I use is gasoline and isopropyl alcohol and sometimes vinegar to clean and those are thankfully not corrosive. When I use an acidic chemical I do use gloves.
      Thank you for the comment, I hope I won your subscribe
