anti-seize on lug studs will create double the torque value if you rely on the torque wrench reading. This will tighten up to double the desired tightness.

Very thorough video. I've changed my tires for 45 years so I decided to listen to make sure my method was good. Sure enough I learned a few tricks like using anti-seize and rust proofing with the tire off and not having full weight on the tire when working the wheel nuts. Thank you.

Really good video. I've never changed a tire in my life but with this video and the information and great tips within, I feel pretty confident to swap my all seasons for winters (and back). Thank you!

Great video, may I suggest buying a can of silicone oil spray and applying that to all rubber bushes, steering rack rubber and suspension mounts, this will protect them as well.

Thanks for the extensive video. I've been doing a bunch of research before buying winter tires and changing them myself each season. Based on said research, I believe you have some incorrect information in this video. (1) On the back of the bottle of Permatex, it says specifically, "Not for use on wheel lug nut." (2) If you do use a lubricant on the bolt/nut, you must adjust your desired torque by at least -30%, because you're decreasing the friction of turning the lug nut. So you've been over-tightening your "accurately torqued" lug nuts by 30% or even more! I highly recommend you research that. (3) The recommended PSI on your vehicle (inside the door) is 30psi, not the 40psi you've been using. I don't know if that's a serious issue, but you may be sacrificing traction with a high psi. Just trying to be helpful and warn other people who watch your video.

I am glad I don't live in Canada where "seasonal tires" are necessary. Same tires all year round here baby.

Tire actually fell off on me during driving and just had to watch this to double-check my method of switching tires is good. Found out that I do exactly what you do so I think the technique is sound. However, wheel fell off after parking overnight in urban area parking lot so unfortunately someone might have tampered with the lug nuts overnight.

For the winter tires you removed you said to label where you want them to go next time (16:30). For the summer tires, you did the opposite - the tire was labelled driver rear and you said that's where it came FROM. (19:50) It would be best to stick with one method, and I think the norm is to label them where they came from. Other than that, good info. Thanks

Recommended tire pressure is inside the driver door on the frame. Supposedly that's the best balance of comfort and fuel economy for your car. I'm sure there is no safety issue with 10% below the max pressure, but why not use the recommended pressure from the manufacturer?

    • @danervin2530

@@timwintersoncntr max pressure is max pressure. Nothing is “grossly overinflated”, unless you are exceeding, yup, the max pressure.

@@timwintersoncntr So what do you do when approaching the maximum GVWR of the vehicle? The door placard psi is based on the median payload capacity of the vehicle, to statistically give the most driver’s the closest to “best” performance and handling. Not everyone weighs the same, carries the same amount of passengers, fills their tank the same, loads their vehicle the same, or even drives the same. Your original statement was very condemning, but I guarantee if you change your pressure from the recommended 33 (pretty sure that’s what the ES350 door placard says) to 36.3, you will not notice a difference, and it sure as heck isn’t going to compromise any of the vehicle components.

When I take my cars in to get the tires swapped out, they always ask me if I want the tire balanced. Both my summers and winters are on rims. Is it important to rebalance them each time? Or should they generally be ok since I'm not taking times on and the off rims each time?
