I for one I'm really happy about this. Just got my first MPC (X) I'm over the moon with it in standalone mode and now being able to control Ableton is a cherry on top of the cake as I will be able to use it in both situations. With the number of Ableton users out there I think this will be popular for many.
Does it allow you to finger drum within ableton and control any drum kits you might build within ableton using ableton's instruments and vsts loaded within ableton?
You should develop and redesign this format for MPC clip launch, Not my first option to use my MPC live with Ableton but would be nice to create “clip sets in Ableton then send them over to my MPC to use in standalone.

I adore my MPC, but building whole songs in standalone with various automations going on different tracks in different sequences is a nightmare. Bugs galore. I LOVE the Ableton integration, but damn, fix standalone first eh
Hey do you mean stream music from the hard drive like the 5000 and roland mv? cause that would be the bomb because right now everything seems to load into the ram which sucks steaming from the hard drive means it depends on the size of your drive and you would be able to jam for hours with the size of the drives today.
Is it possible to switch between Stanalon and Ableton Control modes, and changing the parameters in Ableton live, without stopping playback? For example: Start playing a scene in Ableton live (by Ableton Control mode), then switch to Stanalone mode, make a sketch in MPC, then switch back to Ableton Control mode and start another scene in Ableton live (by Ableton Control mode), or change any VST parameter, without stopping playback of the entire system?
I have the exact same question ... Or play notes with Pad Perform. That may benefit my current workflow, but I've become cautious about making assumptions. I bought the MPC Live a few years ago and later had to sell it again due to all sorts of features that were and still are missing as mentioned extensively in the comments.
Sooo... How do you set this up in Ableton? Just downloaded the version 10 trial to check it out. Computer and MPC are hooked up to the same wifi network.
The one thing I am confused about is what is the direction of the MPC. I for one thought the MPC Live would give me a totally different approach to creating music, from apps on a computer. I currently do not own Fl Studio, Ableton etc because I spent a ton of money to get that organic classic way of creating with the purchase of my stand alone MPC Live. So when I see updates that’s not really advancing the MPC in a MPC work flow it upsets me. I thought this was an MPC and not another PC computer. This is the problem with dealing with company’s that get big and start doing deals with other companies they forget what made them special and forget about the people on their forums. Sad and sucks and I am not happy. Can we please get more stand alone features that are new, fun, creative, mind blowing, outside of the box, organic MPC style of creating music. Not cross promoting old third party company’s, us MPC users are trying to get away from. For god sakes listen to the people who spent the $1200.00 plus bucks on your company.
I feel you bro....but to make a standalone machine with enough power akai would essentially be selling you a pc as well, that's what they're not trying to do besides, the cost would be ridiculous It seems that akai expects serious producers to have access to a PC for power.....with the dollar losing value standalone is becoming ancient from a business standpoint
Zo P I just charge my MPC as I use it, so the power is not the issue. I just plug it into the wall. But as for as the software, if they added this ableton software they can add something that is better for the MPC Live and X workflow. Forcing us back on to the computer with this type of addition is not what we saw coming to be honest. I have an ultra powerful Gaming Pc, I can use if I did want to create music on the computer. But like many other people in this community we wanted to move away from this type of work flow. Reason we took our hard earned money to get the MPC Live and X. I like the new update but also improve on that MPC or Force .Thanks
So as an MPC Studio Black user the latest update to the desktop app apparently offers.....nothing at all for anyone not using a Live or X? I see no reason to update my desktop software at all.

All the older MPC's had the option to change the count off bars, also in the MPC software update did you guys add a rewind and fast forward button on the transport section? , other than ableton LIVE control what other feature did you add with this update that's strictly MPC hardware and software related?
Is this feature ever coming to the Key 37 or 61? The Roland Fantom series has implemented Live control very well. Would love to see it on the Akai keyboards.
I really don’t get it. Wasn’t the term stand-alone once the biggest feature or selling point? Why investing so much time into making it a daw controller when there are a lot of features to be developed to make it a better stand-alone unit?
I agree, multi-timbral and general midi, because the protocol for transferring midi songs to other users in the midi game was general midi that way users would get a general idea of the song they received from another producer then you can assign your favorite sound to the whatever midi track.. when ever I try to use the mpc as a master to trigger general midi on my modules or keyboards the sounds on the tracks are all scrambled up because there is no general midi and general midi would not work without multi-timbral capability...

There are so many things to improve in your current system (MPC Live). You know it. Read through your communitys feedback. And then you integrate Ableton Control as a new Feature … it would be even better if you just made a huge update on your very bad Ableton export, or let us just rearange tracks, or wait … just give us an way better sample browser where i don't have to spend days to scroll … the list is long. Please add good user interface designers to your team and improve your basics. Show your community that your'e listening. Sorry for this bad review, but thats really disappointing, since I was waiting for you update. The MPC Live once was one of the most promising products for me. But the update-experience is one of the worst within my entire hardware.
Is there a updated driver to hook up my mpc to my new mac pro? Because i am not able to run the installer for the driver because it says not supported. My mpc software works but when i try to use it in controller mode it does not. Thank you
Ok, I know this isn't a support forum but I can't find an answer to this so maybe someone has a quick fix. When I go into Live Control Mode, all my oleds black out on my MPC X. I'm running the latest OS, 2.10.01. I'm running Ableton Live 11.0.11 on a Mac Mini M1. Ableton is working great otherwise and so is the MPC. Any ideas? Thanks.
Control mode works for a couple of seconds and then I get «Waiting for communication from Ableton Live». Every time :( Why? Big Sur M1. I thought the 2.10 update fixed the compatibility?
It would help a lot if you'd take the time to explain how to see this data (LIVE CONTROL) through what you have setup in Ableton. I am not sure what i need to change in Ableton to allow them to communicate together to see my set from Ableton. I am connected wirelessly too..
in the mixer view, i cant scroll further than the 8 displayed channels. it drives me crazy! the "hold-down-the-shift-button-until-smth-happens" -method doesent work for me. This is actually really awesome! I didn't even realize the ability to sync with ableton like this. I watch a lot of tutorials and the ableton inserts just sometimes sound and work better then the Mpc standalone in box ones. Is there a video that shows how I can start a production in MPC live and then "transfer" into ableton and still have everything line up? One thing that is kind if concerning about this is now I'm tethered to a computer again if I wanted to perform it live. Guess there is no way to take the finished ableton project (with inserts) and keep them in mpc in stand alone. Lastly, please tell me this also is a feature of the force (Have to go back and do my research)?
@akai it's impossible to find the network driver on your site! you could actually make things easier to find and also explain in the vid how to set it up because the info on this is scarce

Why cant I connect my wireless earbuds , to my MPC X bluetooth standalone . It works when connect to my laptop but not on my MPC X standalone , whats up with that .
It appears the MPC is nothing but a controller. Does this play along side MPC sequences? Can MPC or Ableton sequences be moved between the 2? I'm not getting this.
For my MPC Live, the only things I really want at this point are: 1. Hype synth in standalone mode, 2. Disc streaming for audio, and 3. the newer Akai Force GUI/UX.
@@AkaiProVideo why is that? Makes no sense really. I was considering switching out a very capable midi controller with the key 61 but now not so much 🤷🏼♂️
I saw online that the MPC Live shares the same the firmware as the new MPC One, but I can't seem to get Ableton integration to show up on the MPC One.. Am I missing something or will this come in an update?
@@JAVIER-rh7iq No. Only for the Live and X models I was told. I ended up returning mine in exchange for the Force. If you've ever worked with Ableton, the Force workflow makes 100x more sense. If you have a background with previous MPCs, obviously the MPC is the way to go. Essentially, they sound the same plugin and sampling wise, but the Force is a mini Ableton, and the MPC is a modern MPC that is meant to be paired with the MPC software on your computer, not really Ableton. I could see the MPC be used as a dedication drum machine / sampler along with Ableton though, but that didn't work out for me because that workflow adds steps when mixing down your projects.
This changes everything ! So happy that i found this function. Exactly what i needed. The question is now - could we control Abelton Live from MPC and Akai force at the same time ? I.e having for example 8 tracks controlled by mpc, and 8 by Force?
I suggest following the instructions for advice on using the MPC Live as a standalone instrument, you will find it is quite capable in this regard. If the integration with Ableton Live doesn't appeal to you, then you may wish to consider the hundreds of thousands of people to whom this does appeal, and bear in mind that the world doesn't revolve around one single person.
Why Remove this from MPC ONE? is there any actual reason other than product price tiers .

But the update-experience is one of the worst within my entire hardware.
for the browser in standalone just scroll with two fingers..rtfm^^
100 % true
@@wslbeats See, you're the problem bro. Akai's UI team is full of a bunch of you. lol
Just give us aranger tracks and linear editing for gawd sakes
Is there a updated driver to hook up my mpc to my new mac pro? Because i am not able to run the installer for the driver because it says not supported. My mpc software works but when i try to use it in controller mode it does not. Thank you
@Sebastian Bruckner yea problem is no way to roll back software unless you still have the old installer
I got it to work and the MPC X shows Ableton on screen, But I can't get the MPC X to control Ableton
Can you do this with the new MPC KEY 61? (which I just purchased!)
Hah Akai is getting Grilled on the burning fire here... wow
When I hit live control it goes to waiting for communication rom abelton live & never moves.
mpc one does not do this ? live control mode is on a network ..where is that video?
Can we get a UI update? 🤷🏾♂️
It would help a lot if you'd take the time to explain how to see this data (LIVE CONTROL) through what you have setup in Ableton. I am not sure what i need to change in Ableton to allow them to communicate together to see my set from Ableton. I am connected wirelessly too..
I can also record clips with the MPC right?
in the mixer view, i cant scroll further than the 8 displayed channels. it drives me crazy! the "hold-down-the-shift-button-until-smth-happens" -method doesent work for me. (btw, i think this is a complicated and unprecise way to have access to your individual tracks)
please, someone tell me how to scroll thru tracks in mixer view
ty in advance
What is the cable? Thunderbolt 3.0 X USB or Thunderbolt 2.0 X USB?
Is this working ok in MPC 3 for the mpc x ?
Akai Family, is there a new updated MPC 2.7.2 updater available? Mac OS 10.15 is not allowing me to run the current updater on the site HELP!!! Please do a video on this issue if possible
What else comes with 2.7? I dont care about ableton hahah
I'm afraid nothing special aside some minor bug fixes...
@@Strepite yea I checked out the akai page, I guess bug fixes are better than nothing, I thought they'd keep adding crazy stuff
Does this feature work with the mpc one? If not should I look to upgrade to the Live?
None of these features are on the Mpc Touch 2.7 update. Why?
I'm asking the same. Nonsense, this should be an update for MPC Touch
How would the Akai mpc X integrate the Reason 11 vst plugins?
anyone have MASSIVE issues with the midi driver? i have a grey screen when i open up the driver. any help????
When in Standalone mode with ableton link on (using MPC X) its not possible to have output without a dedicated audio interface?
As a Ableton Live and a MPC Live user I would like to say thank you for this update!!!!
@akai it's impossible to find the network driver on your site! you could actually make things easier to find and also explain in the vid how to set it up because the info on this is scarce
i need Help!!!
i see many videos of how sync Mpc Live on Ableton and doesnt work, for example, i installed the firmware and my update is the lastest version, in menu screen on mpc live, in live control show the message "waiting for communication from ableton live" is strange cause my mpc is update and connect wifi, if someone can help me i aprecciate so much, sorry my english im chilean, thanks by the way
anyone know how to sync using Link? It's not simply enabling Link in Ableton and on the Live in my case.
live control doesn't show up in my mpc menu, also i cant select akai force mpc as acontroller , in live's preferences..
Does anybody know if i can use this as a midi controller just like my MPD32?
In some ways this is even better than a push!
How can you run mpc live as the audio driver and use abelton link a the same time?
What about your own software??
Create MPC Program&Seqs>Explode Tracks>MPC Track=Clip in Ableton>Ableton Link>MPC Standalone Mode>Insert Scene>Repeat for all Seqs
Re-watched this video and im hoping my idea for this workflow works. I want to jam with my clips/scenes using Standalone Mode to take advantage of MPC features like swing humanize track mute note repeat etc
Yes, this is for Ableton Clip Launching and Macro control.
@@AkaiProVideo hopefully you all expand on the integration in the future.
For my MPC Live, the only things I really want at this point are: 1. Hype synth in standalone mode, 2. Disc streaming for audio, and 3. the newer Akai Force GUI/UX.
hey im using ableton live 9 and I dont see the akai force under my control surfaces is this only available with live 10?
Where do you download the network midi driver? It seems to be non-existant or poorly labeled on Korgs download page.
Is this the same for the AKAI MPC Key 61? Im assuming it would be......
MPC Key 61 does not feature Ableton Live Control Integration
@@AkaiProVideo why is that? Makes no sense really. I was considering switching out a very capable midi controller with the key 61 but now not so much 🤷🏼♂️
Too bad I don't use ablton, why r u forcing abelton on us, stick 2 the mpc work flow
momusic777 thank u
Ableton is pretty good though
Anything in it for those of us who don’t use Appleton ?
I saw online that the MPC Live shares the same the firmware as the new MPC One, but I can't seem to get Ableton integration to show up on the MPC One.. Am I missing something or will this come in an update?
does this work on your MPC One yet? I might be picking one up tomorrow.
What audio interface are you using for Ableton live? in standalone mode on the mpc we know its not being used
This changes everything ! So happy that i found this function. Exactly what i needed. The question is now - could we control Abelton Live from MPC and Akai force at the same time ? I.e having for example 8 tracks controlled by mpc, and 8 by Force?
Why is that Apple cable behind the unit?
Will this be supported in ten years?
Well, I guess that's why Akai named the standalone MPC "Live". Should have saw this coming a mile away. #dissappointed
Hahaha
Dam you are right.
