I'm still trying to figure out how to get my xrp off exchange temporarily to a hot wallet until I can get a self custodial cold. The ones I've found don't provide a tag? I've tried putting in a placeholder (eg:0000) as the wallets suggest but the exchange is not allowing transfer without an actual tag. Any hot wallets that provide tags that you know of?
You don’t need a tag to send to self custodial wallets (hot and cold wallets) Only when sending back to a crypto exchange (and the exchange provides you with the tag when trying to receive XRP)
@@cyberscrillaThank you, i understand. However for me to transfer out of Robinhood to a wallet, Robinhood is REQUIRING a tag ( which a wallet doesn't need or provide - thus my dilemma). @@Dor_alien As long as you are not connecting your cold wallet to a site and signing a transaction approval, correct. So if you buy crypto on one wallet, then send it to your cold wallet you’re good.

Great info Scrilla! I’ve had the Tangem for awhile and have put several coins on it but when I tried to transfer XLM it said I “need to buy 1 XLM first to find the account “! Not sure how do do that, I have never sold anything as of yet. Also Tangem is not allowing me to see my Total Acct Balance anymore! On top 🔝.. only individual coins balances. Getting nervous customer support not answering… Thoughts appreciated! God bless you! 🙏❤️😇
Unfortunately, that’s the exchange’s choice. You would either need to send XLM to your wallet from an exchange that doesn’t require you to have one XLM on the external wallet or purchase XLM directly on the wallet before you’re able to transfer from your exchange. As for the account balance, is there a message saying you need to initialize the cards? If so tap the message and then scan one of your cards and that should fix it. Otherwise, see if the app or maybe even your phone needs an update.

On your first tip... Email addresses... Proton or keemail... You could use one or both of these encrypted email services for everything important... And if you make your email addresses very hard to guess, like a password itself then you're in even better shape Singular exclusive email addresses for each account and only used for that account
I bought the three-car tandem cold wallet. Can I use each card to put different amounts of crypto on it and have separate seed phrases for each card? I have krypto on the Robin Hood should I get another cold wallet just for that one? I'm going to get that metal seed phrase plate but I don't see your discount coupon on this video
You need at least 2 cards to setup one wallet, so no. If you want to use 2 seed phrases for example, you’d need at least 4 cards. And the link + discount code is in the description of this video. The discount code is CYBERSCRILLA You don’t need a separate wallet for your crypto on Robinhood. Just transfer your crypto from RH to Tangem and you’ll be all set.

I mean you could use wifi or Bluetooth to connect to your desktop or phone but I don't know how that helps. It a real question no troll . I am getting ready to buy a trezor and dollar cost avg BTC for my retirement. I really need to understand . Any help would be fantastic
Simply transferring your crypto to another wallet or exchanges to sell is NOT connecting to a site. By connecting I mean literally tapping the button on a websites that says connect wallet.
Thanks for your help! Not sure my reasons posted. I understand what your saying that a custodial hot or cold doesn't require a tag however apparently robinhood changed this a week before i signed up and you cannot move xrp AT ALL without a tag ( wallets dont need /or provide a tag- thus my dilemma) Do you know of any wallets hot or cold that provide a tag? Not sure how to get around this except open another exchange and transfer out
I see. If it still requires a tag, just put 000000 when sending to your cold wallet and it will work. You can pretty much put anything as self custodial wallets don’t require a tag. You can always do a small test transaction too if you’re more comfortable with that, but it should work. Lmk if you have any other questions. - Alex
@cyberscrilla ive tried multiple times using random numbers it won't allow anymore. I'm thinking my only option is to move to another exchange? Where else has a tag?

Oh yeah, never trust anything you read in the RUclips comments especially if you see a bunch of profiles promoting a certain coin or project as it’s guaranteed to be a scam That’s why I do my dang best to ensure my comments are free of all those dumb spam bots
Yes. Get a Tangem wallet. It’s the perfect wallet for digital nomads. Durable, discreet, and WAY MORE secure than an exchange. I’ve traveled to various countries with mine, I’ve never had an issue. The link to the wallet, my review, and tutorial are in the description of this video.
great video thank you for making this! one question in terms of contract approval, does this also pertain to swaps made with Tangem? have been wondering how safe those swaps are in terms of security? any feedback is super appreciated thanks again!
Swap permission will only be requested if you exchange a token that operates under smart contracts (for example, an ERC20 token). For native coins, such permission is not needed since they’re regulated by blockchain algorithms, not smart contracts You can choose to give unlimited access or just enough for the swap though. In general, I say it’s safe. But if you want to be extra cautious, you can do your swaps on a separate wallet.
@@cyberscrilla wow thank you for the fast response! do you recommend revoking contract approvals then? i have made swaps on tangem with erc-20 tokens, tangem has a support page with instructions but as you said etherscan is in beta and i would have to use walletconnect to revoke those contracts.

Hi Alex, another great video! My Question on #3 step regarding getting all our crypto off the exchanges, and I believe the examples given are all central exchanges. Is it safe to keep crypto on DEX’s like Uniswap?

6:00 i still haven’t found a solution to the dangers of downloading the wrong firmware update for cold wallets. Any recommendations or a whole video on that would be great! Every time I download it I feel I’m risking my whole life. It’s total angst!
Couple things: You can just use a cold wallet like Tangem (it doesn’t require a firmware update) you only ever have to update the app on your phone. That said, most reputable wallets have a firmware authentication step when you download a new version of the firmware, this way you know the firmware is legit
@@cyberscrilla oh Thank you. If we were talking for example about a Trezor, are the authentication steps something you do yourself of the wallet does it for you? Thank you
@@jonathanlivingston7358 you’re welcome. Be very careful when you take custody of your crypto. It is not risk free. If you are not on top of things it's easier to lose your assets than leaving it on a large trusted exchange. Many many sad stories out there involving ledgers and phrases and so on. Now YOU have the keys yes, but YOU are also responsible for them
100% But plenty of sad stories of people’s funds being frozen, locked accounts, and exchanges even shutting down as well. @@cyberscrilla I think it i depends on the person. A friend lost 37 ETH when he transferred it to his Ledger FROM Binance two years ago. Let me assure you he strongly wishes he had left it all right there. And I know so many such stories.
You don’t need a tag to send to self custodial wallets (hot and cold wallets)
Only when sending back to a crypto exchange (and the exchange provides you with the tag when trying to receive XRP)
@@cyberscrillaThank you, i understand. However for me to transfer out of Robinhood to a wallet, Robinhood is REQUIRING a tag ( which a wallet doesn't need or provide - thus my dilemma).

Singular exclusive email addresses for each account and only used for that account

The discount code is CYBERSCRILLA
You don’t need a separate wallet for your crypto on Robinhood. Just transfer your crypto from RH to Tangem and you’ll be all set.

Simply transferring your crypto to another wallet or exchanges to sell is NOT connecting to a site. By connecting I mean literally tapping the button on a websites that says connect wallet.
Is swapping tokens through the Tangem app like signing a contract with the used exchange ?
Good question I would like to know this too
Thanks for your help!

@cyberscrilla ive tried multiple times using random numbers it won't allow anymore. I'm thinking my only option is to move to another exchange? Where else has a tag?

great video thank you for making this! one question in terms of contract approval, does this also pertain to swaps made with Tangem? have been wondering how safe those swaps are in terms of security? any feedback is super appreciated thanks again!
Swap permission will only be requested if you exchange a token that operates under smart contracts (for example, an ERC20 token).
For native coins, such permission is not needed since they’re regulated by blockchain algorithms, not smart contracts
You can choose to give unlimited access or just enough for the swap though.

What would be your recommendation of a place/method to Trade if these were your requirements
1) Must be fully self custody
2) Must be good liquidity
3) Must be able to set Limit Orders (Stop Limit would be even better)
Uniswap seems the obvious choice but Limit orders only work on the ETH Mainnet.
I tried to transfer mine and it wouldn't let me I didn't understand
Hi Alex, another great video! My Question on #3 step regarding getting all our crypto off the exchanges, and I believe the examples given are all central exchanges. Is it safe to keep crypto on DEX’s like Uniswap?
DEXs like Uniswap don’t let you store crypto. They’re only for trading, there’s no wallet/portfolio
Who else is realizing they’ve probably signed WAY too many contract approvals? Revoke those permissions, people. Hackers are smarter than you think. 😬

Every time I download it I feel I’m risking my whole life. It’s total angst!
Couple things:
You can just use a cold wallet like Tangem (it doesn’t require a firmware update) you only ever have to update the app on your phone.
That said, most reputable wallets have a firmware authentication step when you download a new version of the firmware, this way you know the firmware is legit

If we were talking for example about a Trezor, are the authentication steps something you do yourself of the wallet does it for you?

@@jonathanlivingston7358 you’re welcome.
As for Trezor wallets, exactly, when updating the firmware on the Trezor Suite software performs an authenticity check to ensure the new firmware is genuine and not tampered with, alerting the you if any inconsistencies are detected with the official firmware signature; this is a security feature to protect against counterfeit or malicious firmware installations
Be very careful when you take custody of your crypto. It is not risk free. If you are not on top of things it's easier to lose your assets than leaving it on a large trusted exchange.
