If only you just read the manga and listen to this song and lyrics… anyway it’s a sad story wrapped in action, and the song fits it well. The sadness were never explicitly expressed in the story itself, but there were hints of it being strong just like in this song.

id usually agree but i recently rewatched zeta and there it was mentioned that at one point "newtypes will one day transcend time itself". so nt isnt as bs as it looks at first glance.
The mechs on gundam are real robots, what makes them op is the pilot or newtype which is a new breed of human you can see this on the 3dcg short of G reco where a phenex unit is defeated by G-Self due to the pilot not being a newtype
If you are talking solely about the theme music, then I suggest listening to Men of Destiny (0083 second opening) or some of the Seed openings. They could work for a super robot show no problem LOL

good thing they seal away. in future in gundam f91 they no longer hae psyco frame i believe. one way the keep the battle more realistic and keep the franchise going. rx-0 is the pinnacle of power.
