I quickly show you how the Hole feature works in FreeCAD 0.20.
I used FreeCAD 0.20, because i also want to show real modeled thread.
This was not possible in the stable FreeCAD 0.19 version i use.

Thanks! You're right, FreeCAD 0.20 is the first official version that has the thread modeling feature.
I am , as so many, creating threads for 3D-printing and the Fastener addon worked great for me with no need for tweaking settings to get a proper fit, but when I now need M12x1 thread I see that fasteners only goes to 10mm. This should make me happy, I have uninstalled the 0.19 and will try 0.20.

Thanks! One big disadvantage I had was saving a document in this 0.20 version. It showed an error after saving.
There's also the Fasteners workbench which is very good to create different threaded things

Nice clear tutorial, thanks. When I downloaded 19.2 the 'model thread' and 'update' boxes did not appear in the create a hole function - hence no thread was shown. Anybody got any ideas why.

When will FreeCad 0.2 be available as a stable release?
Good question, I don't know. Probably when it's finished enough, because it's a small team of developers. There's no specific interval between version releases I think.
you can't change the distance of the threads though. Like for a screw with threads really close together. anyone know how to do that?? it's like number of threads per inch or something I can't find it on here at all
You mean fine threads and threads that go halfway through?
how do you model a threaded rod that goes into threaded hole?

For screws you can dowbload the Fasteners workbench. It's shown in this video: ruclips.net/video/Q-9UVHfhfx8/видео.html.

I think you can move the complete folder to your program files and start it from there. In the Bin map is the file to start FreeCAD!

Hi, which FreeCAD version do you use? The threads showed in the video are not possible in 0.19 or older.

I want 4 shapes similar to the one shown in the video. 2 circles smaller.
You can draw two (smaller) circles and then add thread. After that you draw the other circles and also add another thread with the Hole feature.

How to delete a hole from an existing file ?
You can select the Hole feature in the tree on the left. The press Delete to remove it completely. The sketch with circles will not be removed then.

this software suite is shit. there is a learnign curve. fail. get 3d builder to have a thread function in stead. much better.
please go to 3d builder, menu, feedback. or feedback hub and upvote the smart things.
Is 3D Builder also a parametric design modeler?
Sucks ass making threads in freecad. Takes forever and you literally have to draw the shape of the thread itself, has a ton of steps and sucks. Too bad a feature like this does not exist for freecad unless you use this 100+version outdated package.
Hope the 0.20 version will be released soon!
