To those asking: no, it didn't actually come with MRE coffee. It is a joke in reference to this lovely channel :)
ruclips.net/video/u_sY-nJ179U/видео.html
oh, you had me there for a second
Beautifully played, sir, beautifully played.
I had a good laugh. Nicely done Clint.
Was the coffee any good?
The coffee was not great, haha
As a person whom watches both of you on a regular basis, that genuinely made me think I was slowly losing my mind.
I thought I crossed channels for a second.
Yeah, I was like when did you start reviewing an MRE and then ... nice.
Same here Valve, same here..
Jesus, is this a crossover episode? We have LGR referencing Steve1989, with Valve News Network in the comments and This Does Not Compute just below him. Infinite War just got overplayed by those fellas.
Hello, VNN.
Dude I was half asleep then heard "coffee, instant type 2" in your voice then snapped awake because that was confusing as hell
Mmmm... 20 year old instant coffee
Glad I wasn't the only one.
@@adrianquintanar5696 Same here 😂
What im pissed about is how are you gonna taste test 20 year old coffee and not tell us how it tastes lol.
I watch RUclips while lying in bed, and I genuine thought I’d fallen asleep.
I fucking LOST it with the Steve1989 reference. Though it needed to go onto a tray.
Nice.
No hisss?
Even included the speed shifted stirring. That right there is a real tribute.
And the random change in pitch when hitting the side of the cup. Don't forget.
Nice.
*Nice*
We all just watch the same videos dont we. Crazy, I never thought these worlds would collide.
Where is the hiss when you opened it!
How many references to Steve1989 are we going to get on this channel? Because I refuse to let them stop.
This is honestly the best crossover I've ever seen.
That bit made my day almost as much as the self aware "this is looking pretty..." *jumpcut* "Nice!" thing that Steve did.
Nice! This chocolate is sooo goooood.
Now let's get this out onto a tray...
*NICE!*
I love it though everyone gets some type 2 spray dried coffee! I know that Guy!!
Great, now I want Steve1989 to do some retro tech reviews. Nice, mkay.
Mmkay Mr Mackey. Mmkay.
@@Phenom98 mmmmkay
No hiss
lmaaoo
let's get all these components out on a tray.. NICE 😂
This would have been some eye candy back in the early 2000s when LAN parties/events.
6:15 "Let's get this out onto a tray! Nice!"
Love that MREinfo easter egg :D
I thought I'd accidentally switched videos for a second
Nice okay. Allright
I did too! I was like... wait, when did he start opening an MRE?
Man, they used to put everything you needed in the box. Asus always had the best coffee pack-ins
I had to rewind when the beverage care package came out, thought I was losing it. . . y'know, when you completely fail to recall something you were watching and find your self several videos away, alas I hadn't absentmindedly found my self watching Steve1989MRE, no, I'm a new subscriber and this novelty probably happens all the time, and I'll stay, because I have just decided I like this channel.
I lost it with the Steve's channel reference. That was awesome xD
Let's get this out onto a tray.... NICE
I'm picking up notes of... onion... garlic... MIDI... green peppers...
A really satisfying, savory oddware.
Totally saw him putting that stuff into a tray lol
Sweet! Let's smoke the cigarette!
right of the bed
musoforlyf YESSSSSSSSSS
Haha, love the LGR does SteveMre part. Nice!
Alright... Cool!
LGR owns approximately 500 old machines with that older white color. Chooses green giant case to F with us.
His lazy green giant is his project box he built it specifically for the purposes of hardware just like the newq, imagine trying to get it working in his wood-grain 486 the aesthetic would have been even worse a wood-grain computer with a modern VFD it just wouldn't have worked.
OMG I love the Steve1989 tribute! Im subscribed to both of you and you don't know how thrilled I was when I noticed!
You're trying to tell us one of your computers doesn't have Duke Nukem 3D installed.
Wiseman I smell something fishy here
Well he does like jazz more than duke soooooo
Remember playing Unreal Tournament on the college network (class = lan party). Shame it brought the network to it's knees as we couldn't install it locally. Fun times!
I expect he has it installed on his fridge.
I loved the Steve1989MREInfo reference
When I saw that accessory packet, all I could think was....
NICE!
It made me so happy
I knew it was a Steve1989 reference when you said “nice”
Ive been binging Steves videos all day, and wandered onto this, I genuinely thought I was having a psychotic episode there for a moment when I saw the Accessory packet! that was amazing :D
Oh man I remember that the computer store I worked at back then carried these. We didn't sell many, but the people who did buy them really only cared about the spectrum analyzer. We also carried the more basic Future Power-branded ones, which really only had the graphic EQ and not the fancy screen. (Come to think of it, we sold some complete Future Power systems too, though the higher-end Pentium 3 systems were ones we built in-house.)
Hi Colin it's everyone how's it goin?
That´s interesting.
hey, it's you! i love your vids, man
Haha the MRE part. Nice.
why did part of a mre come with the device ?
Very good question... Why in seven hells? Ware they thinking "How to make our buyers feel better while installing our device? Oh I know! Give them MRE coffee pack!"
I think it’s a joke referring to Steve from a popular MRE channel.
Edit: See LGR comment under.
Then I take it back since I was blind like bat...
I hope its a hint of upcoming mre video :D
*_Love the Steve1989 reference at _**_6:15_**_ Perfect lol;)_*
Steve1989's channel is awesome been watching him for awhile. Ya know if he did a Vintage tech review and you did a MRE review that be kinda cool.
Let's get this oddware out onto a tray.
Nice.
I watch most of your videos while eating.
Probably because LGR is the comfiest corner of the damn internet in my humble opinion.
Dear LGR.
I want to say thanks and express how i appreciate the stuff that you are doing.
I'm having constant nostalgie moments, even though i've never had a chance to hold any pieces of these equipment.
And voice, man. C'mon, you are one of the best.
As a computer enthusiast and new sub, I just love stuff like this Mr LGR!
I remember owning two Sound Blaster sound cards in my older PCs of the late 90's and early 2000's. I still must have one of them laying around somewhere. But I really would love it if stuff like this sound augmentation drive unit was being done today. I would totally get one!
Keep up the great work. Love your videos!
You're officially a winner if you had 2 Sound Blasters in the same PC.
Stop making me want to buy more junk to put in my pc! Love the vids!
I would love to have this in my PC... however... current case has no place for it, as it is I use an external drive just to use my DVD drive :(
Every time one of these comes out, interest in my vintage computers increases ;)
Computers from Windows XP and back, are the most interesting, and most awesome. There were so many changes, so fast that today, computers are kind of boring to a point.
Well, it took them a while but they realised at the end that those gimmicks don't really boost sales. You can add whatever coo silly thing you want, but at the end of the day what 95% of the user base cares about is a normal issue free desktop PC and a monitor.
He puts it into a black Windows 85 PC ? Where did that come from, at that Time most Machines were beige or grey. Nontheless if i find something like this i think i have an ols Machine with fitting Color where i can put it in. Having the Volume Control in Reach is a neat Thing instead of searching the Applet with your Mouse.
Alright! Let's get this out on a tray!
_Nice!_
The random moment of pulling out items from an MRE: priceless
Love the format of your videos, little bit of history of the product, specs and then review. Cheers
I want to live in that 5 1/4" floppy drive.
I hear the rents pretty cheap. ;)
Well, Palin, we were joking about living in that floppy drive, but yeah I know. I had a job offer in SF and turned it down because it was not going to cover living expenses there. Even at the $25/hr they were offering. It also was not a full time gig either.
sprybug I'm pretty sure he was joking too.
If you listen carefully, the capacitors produce a nice hiss.
which is why my hifi is all valves :D
I guess that tube / valves systems don't use capacitors LMAO.
@@LionWithTheLamb lol I confused transistors and capacitors, just a layman here :P
Nice.
I had one of these! I loved it!
Thanks for the !Nostalgia trip!
Thank you for doing a review on this! I had one of those in 1999, and had those same Altec Lansing speakers too! Thanks for the 20yo memories.
I actually would by a modern version of this for my PC.
cahdoge yeah this is dope
Same here would be legendary
RGB crap sux, unless it is a bargraph. I tried both streaming levels from WinAmp via COM and doing the whole FFT on an external MCU (found some FFT code available for ATMega, I suck at that FFT math, which I upgraded for running with an RGB bargraph instead of a stock mono LCD, and no, the retArduino noobs should leave as the the whole FFT code and the RGB framebuffer/dynamic coloring thingie I did for it is in ASM, will never do any good if written otherwise - especially with Ardu's crapware) and it looked pretty fun - though those LED strings are huge and are no match for a neat VFD.
I recommend the iMON Ultrabay(Veris Premiere) manufactured by Soundgraph Inc. Works perfect with modern Windows 10 PC, and displays song title from iTunes and WinAmp. it was released in 2007 and discontinued years ago so it's hard to find new unit in a box though.
Doesn't Ultrabay have LCD? F it then - VFD's only!
Love the Steve MRE plug, nicely executed, almost was expecting to hear "let's get this on to a tray" :D
I just about chocked on my coffee when you started the rations review steve mre style. Very subtle transition so really caught me off guard
I bought one way back then! Loved it, running through my pioneer system. Thanks LGR dude
"CLINT!" ....Barbie says hi.
Brandon Redmond LOL!
hahaha
Clint: AAAH! D:!
He bought the sequel of it, btw:
twitter.com/lazygamereviews/status/1011432431520534529
Same name list, so confirmed has "Clint" on the list, lol
+AlphaCore Barbie must be excited for her second date with CLINT!
Omg a steve1989 reference I love it!
Kathryn Radonich *in duke nukem voice* hey baby wanna lgr and chill
Faze Testicle let me just ask my husband if that’s ok. In other words no not a chance
LGR, you are SUCH a nerd. Please don't EVER change.
I am a new viewer and subscriber, and I love the way you talk, and how you get so excited about all different types of "retro" tech.
Oh man, the hommage to Steve made me so happy! :D You nailed that, "Nice."
haha that MRE reference. I almost expected you to whip out a pack of Camels. Nice.
Lmao I lost it when he did the steveMRE1989 tribute. But he forgot to mention the all important hiss! Now I'm waiting for Steve to do a LGR tribute!!
Not sure if Steve has the right aesthetic for it.
As usual, I was doing chores with your videos as comforting audio. And then I had to sit down and carefully watch from the beginning to make sure the cleaning fumes hadn’t gone to my head.
I love seeing references to some of my favorite RUclipsrs from some of my favorite youtubers. Nice!
In case you're wondering, the reason you got the version from California is simple but kind of messed up. Until the 2000s there wasn't any direct tech trade between South Korea and Japan. so any trade between the two required an intermediary company in another country, like the US. The embargo is also why South Korea never got the Famicom officially. Mostly due to South Korea breaking tech security agreements they had with Japan. It's a small snap shot of South Korea's passive-aggressive way of dealing with Japan, while maintaining their grudge from WWII and prior.
haha yeah, korea had that "no japanese culture in media" rule that caused a character from soul calibur to change from a japanese samurai to a, er, western samurai. makes no sense.
"It's a small snap shot of South Korea's passive-aggressive way of dealing with Japan, while maintaining their grudge from WWII and prior".
Perhaps if you stop being a weeaboo for a second and educate yourself on how Japan acted towards Korea from WWII and prior, you will discover why "South Korea's passive-aggressive way of dealing with Japan".
@@iaincowell9747 I dont think he said anything about it being warranted or not. He just mentioned the passive-aggresive thing. But yeah, Japan was no- good to neighbors back in the day.....
@@iaincowell9747 To be fair, that it's still conflating personal histories with business. It's not necessary other than to stretch out bad feelings (although I suppose back in that era maybe the people in the business may have been old enough to remember the actual history as it unfolded).
@@iaincowell9747 Actually you're missing out on history yourself. From the end of WWII until 1987, South Korea was under control of a series of military-backed dictatorships. The nationalistic view you state was a product of these dictators trying to stay in power by creating a Japanese threat. You may find North Korea's views on outside nations absurd today, but South Korea wasn't that much different until the end of the Cold War. Besides, with your logic, the entire EU would never exist.
That computer went from "lazy green giant" to "Super Sexy Hulk" with that awesome little piece of hardware. Graphic equalizers always make stuff so much sexier!
Did you just.... 😂 thank you for the MRE reference, that really made my day. Now all we need is for Steve1989 to do an homage to LGRoddware....
Yeah, the MRE accessory packet threw me. I was like "...uhh, what..." but when I heard "Nice!" I busted out laughing as I understood the homage.
That Steve MRE reference, brilliant! :D
I looked down for a minute and when I looked back up, I was suddenly watching Steve1989MREInfo
Godamn it, that Steve1989 reference was unexpected, very well played sir. Even added the musical notes with the spoon, dayum.
Man I love VFDs. Our microwave that we got when we last had our kitchen done in 2000 has a VFD and it's such a great aesthetic :)
LGR foods and Steve 1989 should do a collab
Alex .Allen add Crazy Russian Hacker in too
The Steve1989MREinfo moment was spot on, nice work sir!
Just found your Channel you do awesome videos Man we'll be watching your videos from now on keep up the good work
Thank you!
hi, i'm 69, the newq-gold owned for 21 years. use it again after many years, thanks to your movie I see modes I didn't know. still very good asset. greetings from the Netherlands - Ben
Its eye candy that would impressed everyone at the Lan Party. 20+ years later it still looks cool. I've seen car stereos that have a similar display. btw I would have ran the audio out of the headphone jack into your camera or edited it into the video so we could hear what the effects and EQ do.
Nice VFD bay! Still got myself a Japanese Scythe Kaze Master KM01-BK VFD fan controller on my Q9650 build. The name and the box art of the thing has the original '80s He-Man music accompanying it in my head even today.
Top quality in this channel!
Keep up man!
I actually had one of those back when I was in High School. I bought mine at Comdex in Las Vegas for 40 bucks on the last day of the show. It really didn't do much for my audio, but it did make your computer look cool. Anyone who saw it would always ask about it.
8:21 I had an Aureal sound card like that. It was great for recording. The wavetable synthesis made MIDI files sound amazing.
The "Lazy Green Giant" PC needs a green monitor, keyboard, and mouse. This in green would be cool as well.
That hits hard! My cousin had one back in the day. I remember staring it for minutes.
Wow, that accessory pack part really threw me for a loop. Good one.
Just wanted to say thank you for always having captions. It adds a lot of value for me!
I loved that reference to MRESteve, you and him are two of my favourite channels! You've made my day in the UK! Cheers mate. :)
I thought I had accidentally clicked on a Steve1989MRE video in the middle of this one...
Oh my god, the MRE part actually made me check that I hadn't somehow clicked on another link by mistake. Nice one. :)
I get why this would of been popular in Japan, the Karaoke capabilities. Karaoke had always been massively popular in Japan and for serious audio people or just the guy belting out Freebird to his PC in the 90's...sweet 🤘
This is so trippy, I just started watching steve1989 this week, and now my favorite RUclipsr is doing a parody of him! This is crazy!! Good job man. You should have gotten everything out onto a tray first ( nice )
Let's get this out on a tray
*nice*
These are great. Always wanted one, even for my PC now.
OK, I'm over a year late to this party, but for me you still won the Internet today with your Steve-style MRE review. lol Instantly recognized it and it made me giggle. Then then I just outright laughed out loud when you added the "nice".
Well played, good sir. Well played.
6:40
i see what you did there... Steve would be proud.
I had one with VU meters and the EQ under that. Used to be a big PC modder in that golden time lol. Awesome video indeed!!!
I just recently started watched Steve’s channel so when I saw you do the coffee thing, I was pretty sure I was having a stroke or something. Well played sir.
I totally did not expect that MRE part. Nice!
Techmoan is so jelly right now!
Clint, I wish I knew you were looking for one of these. I bought one in the early 2000's from a traveling computer show, solely for the "rice" factor (the flashy blinkenlights, essentially). It looked so cool to my eye back then. Sometime later, when I rebuilt my PC, I threw this in a drawer and forgot about it. I do, however, know exactly where it is, and I have all the pieces, though not the box nor the documentation. I'd have been happy to send it to you so you wouldn't have had to import one from Japan. Thanks for the great video and nostalgia trip! Maybe I'll throw mine into my current desktop just for the fun factor!
Do you still have it? I'am intrested.. collector too. Maybe have to start my own channel january 2021 If I have ewerything what i need before that. I think itse not "compiter only" channel..
If u still have this id love to buy it!
Watching you take apart a PC is a borderline supernatural experience
My car is from the era and the radio in it also has a SRS 3D sound option... it just makes the sound hollow with weird bass.
I remember my aunt's old ford escort that came with it ... nuf said
Tom Jacobs
😅
I did not expect to see a Steve1989 parody on LGR XD
I found your channel and the MRE channel today and then I see this. I was so confused for a second! What are the odds
This reminds me of the Plusdeck 2 cassette player I had in my pc at that time. The Plusdeck also had a pass through setup to the sound card as well. It was a handy thing at the time to record my tape into my pc. you should find one and try it out. great video love your retro stuff.
Got one still in box I plan to cover!
Let’s get this out onto a tray. Nice!
Lmao that MRE reference threw me for a loop! Wow. “Got ‘em!”
That display is amazing, took me straight back to my childhood in the U.K. in the 90's looking at electronics in the store. Ahhh those graphics.
I bought one of these back in 99-2000. I have had it in every one of my main PCs/cases I've built/upgraded since then. I even painted the face black to match my new cases a few years back. I loved this thing. It sounded great, looked super cool, and I loved the front controls and jacks. It finally crapped out on me about a year ago, and I had to toss it.
Let's get this out onto a tray, nice
Ahh LGR vids are so relaxing.
NotTheWheel and an LGR vid with some MRE Steve thrown in? I was in a comfort coma for hours
I always wondered what the heck this was,had it in my dad's pc way back when..Under a different company. Thank you for the nostalgia.. Weirdly I didn't know what it did but I loved to watch it haha.
Loved it Clint! Keep it up
Loved the Steve1989 bit!
"Nuke You" what an unfortunate name
Real1Gaming Imported from Japan
Ironic
Björn van der Sluis yea super ironic
It was an awesome name
Made in Korea (even more ironic, although not the same Korea)
Now that would have been a wonderful addition to my Plusdeck 2c Computer tape deck. A deck that fits nicely into a 5,25 bay to play audio tapes or feed them into the computer to digitize them. Priceless looks from my friends included
I parted out a PC I built in 2001 and salvaged one of these. I loved the lights haha. On eBay now!
I LOVED the SteveMRE reference!!
