Hey Meadow! Here in Indonesia, only fondant is available for all cake decorations. On baking forums, fondant is often referred to as sugar paste, but many cake makers/cake artists also use modelling paste to make figures. I read their testimony that modeling paste is easier to shape than soft fondant. so I think you can use modeling paste, you might even find it easier to use than fondant. And usually to make fondant firmer, I add cmc powder or tylose (thickener) 😊

Hi Veren! Bisa pakai cmc, bisa tidak.. kalau gak pakai cmc, bikinnya dipisah2 dulu (kaki dipisah dengan badannya) dikeringkan dulu di kamar ac, setelah keras baru disatukan. Dulu saya begitu pas jualan kue, karna dulu ga tau pake cmc. Kalo pake cmc uleni sama fondant biar rata bgt, biar kalo kering engga ketara bintik2 putihnya. Untuk pewarna fondant saya pakai merek Trans atau Hakiki

Hi hi Van Morata 😊 For good quality of fondant toppers, better keep them in 1 week. I dry my fondant toppers in an AC room. If the ac is turned off, the room remains closed. If the fondant has been dry and hard, you can store them in a tightly closed container 😊

Hi Emma W 😊 I added a little bit of tylose powder/cmc so the body hardened quicker.. When I was selling cake, I didnt use CMC and yes, I dried the body and the head separately, after they hardened then I sticked them together 😊

Hi hi Van Morata 😊 For good quality of fondant toppers, better keep them in 1 week. I dry my fondant toppers in an AC room. If the ac is turned off, the room remains closed. If the fondant has been dry and hard, you can store them in a tightly closed container 😊

Do you let the bodies dry a little before putting on the heads, as I always have to problem that the head compresses the neck or causes it to droop forwards? Any tips?
Hi Emma W 😊 I added a little bit of tylose powder/cmc so the body hardened quicker.. When I was selling cake, I didnt use CMC and yes, I dried the body and the head separately, after they hardened then I sticked them together 😊

Halo kak Beta Tamiya, supaya ga lengket pas bikin tangannya dikasi maizena sedikit.. untuk lebih cepat keras fondantnya bisa ditambah sedikit bubuk CMC.. jika tidak pakai CMC juga bisa, dikeringin dulu (kalo saya di ruang AC) terpisah pisah bagiannya setelah keras baru dipasangkan.
