FLY TYING-CDC FLYING ANT - THE DEADLIEST FLIES with Chris Walklet

- Late summer into early Fall the dry fly action begins to wind down with the exception of several fantastic hatches. The flying ant hatch is one of them and these ants are like candy on Halloween for eager trout. Each ant is filled with juicy acids that make them a great food source for even the most reluctant fish. This is a great pattern sizes 10 up depending on the size of the ant that is hatching. Having an effective flying ant pattern in your box at the right time can be magic on the river. (Just a note in describing the life cycle of the ant I mentioned worker bees by mistake. I meant worker ants. They share a similar exodus when creating new hives colonies)

Love the no nonsense approach. It's like meditation watching a fly being tied accompanied by soothing music.
Hi Chris. Great tying, this fly will work here on the lochs in Scotland fishing the margins where bugs are blown onto the water. Heading off to tie some, perhaps rust colour as well as the black that we have hatching here. Tight lines. Derick.
@@derickhannant9253 Glad you like it. Looks like food. All the best, good luck. Thanks.
The rainbows were smashing these at roche lake today. Of course, I didn't have any. Next time I will though thanks to this video. Looks like an exact replica of what I saw on the water today!
Nice explanation, comparation to real bug and nice music. Thanks for sharing!! Regards from Chilean rivers.
Hi Chris I tie a similar pattern with a red and black body and as you said it works really well dry especially in early September. Nice video.
Different ants all over the place. Match what you know is around. Its that time. All the best.
Superb👍
Who’s interesting.
Tying ants for friend and going to try that. Thanks
Saw one just like this today.
Cred că trebuie apropiată puțin imaginea ca filmarea să fie mai din prim plan 🤔
Love the Blue Talon shirt.
That was home. Grew up Williamsburg va.
Funny I just did this video!
Still sore from yesterday. We still can scramble. Thats a good thing. I liked that little BWO pattern you showed me. It should be illegal LOL. Your the best. Thanks
Somebody get that man some hackle pliers!
@@paulobainz1210 Lol.... each of us can perservere eating our peas with chop sticks if we choose to......but is using a spoon instead, a sign of ineptitude?
