The Marching 100 is a different beast this year! As a FAMU alum who has been watching the 100 for years and seen many different (and great) versions of this band, this year's band has some power and fire behind it. I love it...and I know that sound is going to continue to mature as the season progresses.
Honestly, the power of this Marching 100 reminds me of some of the early 2000s bands. I always think back to the FAMU/A&T battle of 2002...the 100 brought some heat that night.
It’s been a trend to hate on FAMU lately but truly this battle has no winner. Just two bands showcasing great musicianship in their own respective styles. W for both bands and HBCU culture 💪🏾
It gave what it was supposed to give and that was MEAC/MEAC. Both did a great job. If I had to choose it would be NSU they had a better sound and arrangements.
One of the better bands battles I have seen in awhile. As a fan of the 100 from afar, I can tell that they shifted some from the arrangement driven songs that they are known for; to basically being able to throw more “crunk” music back at the opposing band. I think because they are now in the SWAC, that’s a requirement. And I say that with due respect to the arrangements that Dr. Foster or Dr. White arranged. On the other hand, Norfolk St. came to play no games at all. Their arrangements were crisp and delivered with accuracy. The “Across 110th St” by Bobby Womack was definitely my favorite. All in all, I would say both bands represented their universities well and their respective band alumnus.
This will be one of the top 3 5th Quarters of the entire season right here. The level of musicality played here is top notch!!!! I salute both bands!!!!!!
Famu is pushing some serious serious sound….. I lowkey wish we be less SWAC-ish but I know Chipman isn’t going to stand up there and let these other bands blow at us without giving it right back to them
I would agree that both bands performed well. However, I would give a slight edge to The Green & Gold due to musical arrangements. Overall, it's great to hear two excellent bands displaying a high level of musicianship.
FAMU toyed with their arrangements and still showed some power. The song book hasn’t even been opened yet. Y’all will see the 100 get nasty when they travel to ASU. As always, they open the book heavy for them
@@TjevdevsNo idea. This started a few years ago when they both came for each other’s necks and played the best they’ve played all season. I can see that matchup becoming a classic in the near future.
Famu sounds crispy but needs to tighten up especially on Coming To America, Norfolk had better arrangements and were a little tighter as far as playing in unison
I'm a Rattler and I wish we played less conservative music! I wish we would have had different songs in the arsenal. I did enjoy both but sadly I enjoyed Norfolk a little better. FAMU played predictable 70's music and has for many many years. I think its time to add some other songs to the list!!!!
Really didn’t like the song choices, but not bad for it being so early. Edit…Norfolk clearly gets the dub imo. Famu lacks soul and just kinda boring imho. Atleast on video. I know they sound excellent in person though
Coming from an alumni marching 100 rattler, I loved that first tune from NSU. I thought their rendition of Get away was lacking. But overall they sound really good. Great musicianship.
ok from this angle the famu band sound a lot louder then on the @showtimeweb video, maybe he was actually closer to norfolk on @showtimeweb video. I thought people was lying.

That's what I want to know, they killed that joint, as only they could. After the first tune by NSU, it was all down hill, they weren't bad, just that first song I thought was their best.

The energy during the game and the halftimes was great though
FAMU had more than a couple of mess ups in Coming to America and certainly in Fantasy. Not a bad performance at all but both of these bands had a little ring rust.
@deemanDavid Honestly wasn't feeling anything either band played until about round 3 for FAM and round 5 for Norfolk tbh. I know that selections will be a lot better as the year progresses though

A&T isn’t in the MEAC anymore (they are in a PWI conference along with Hampton). NSU is literally the only good band left. They have to face the likes of Howard, Morgan, Delaware St. and NCCU. Don’t look them up on RUclips, just trust me, they stink
😂😂😂😂 This battle was boring af!! Them arrangement was Kids bop Korean karaoke sounding af. Nsu reminds me of them corp hs with a nice black population so they play a few pop songs..
When I heard the 100 playing EWF I knew it would be a snooze fest. Not suppose to tie with NSU. Got to improve the selection if you want to compete with the other SWAC bands. Was this a warm up?
Definitely a warm up I think. FAMU did the same when they played in the Celebration Bowl last year. They just play to the MEAC’s level. They always get nasty when they meet up with ASU though. That needs to become a classic already
